Ellicott City is an unincorporated community and census-designated place, along with being the county seat of local government in Howard County, Maryland, United States. It is part of the Baltimore Metropolitan Area. The population was 65,834 at the 2010 census. Founded in 1772, the town contains the B. & O. Railroad Museum's branch at the Ellicott City Station, built in 1830 as the first terminus of the initial line. The downtown historic district is located in the valley of the small Tiber River, with its east end abutting the Patapsco River, which forms the Baltimore County line. As of the 2000 census, Ellicott City surpassed Towson (county seat of neighboring Baltimore County) for the first time, as the largest unincorporated county seat in the country.

This restaurant is half way between our friends and us and it was a great place to meet. It took each of us about 45 minutes to get there and it was worth it. Our friend is in a wheelchair and has minimal use of his hands. He loved his food and we all thought all our entries were terrific. The staff was very accommodating and took excellent care of us. We arrived at 6:00 which was a great time for the four of us but when we left, the noise level increased significantly. Since we are all in our 70's, hearing is important and the acoustics were not that great. However, we all agreed that we would meet there again. Thank you for this great review. We dined at the Catonsville Gourmet on a Friday evening in July. The restaurant offers a nice selection seafood including soft shelled crabs, when in season. The dining is attractive, bright and comfortable. They apparently don't serve liquor (BYOB) since my friend brought his own wine ... I'm not sure if there was a corkage charge. The seafood was good but not exceptional. My wife's soft shelled crabs were too oily and my sea bass was not rare as I ordered. Neither of us finished our entrees. They weren't bad, just not good enough to elimate the need for a travel box. All in all a solid restaurant but not particularly memorable. .

We'd been hearing about Mad Chef for about six months and finally had a chance to visit. Glad we did. Although located in a main street feeling strip center, it is a vibrant and lively restaurant with a very creative menu. My scallops on black rice were amazing and my husband's tuna was great as well. Our server, Mario, was friendly and knowledgeable. The thing that really sold me was that they actually had caipirinhas on the drink menu...and they were good!Thank you for your review, we appreciate your feedback! We are glad you enjoyed!! On Thursdays we have $6 caipirinhas, see you there!

Five stars all the way around for Xenia's décor, service and food. Couldn't believe we were dining in Columbia in such an upscale restaurant. Our table for four in the bar area overlooking the kitchen and the wonderful fish display (pick your own fish for dinner) was perfect and a low decibel level - great for conversation. Lucky for us we were there for happy hour with all appetizer choices at $7 (large enough to share) and wine by the glass (nice pours) also $7. Among our selections were Kalamarkia, Sliders, Souvlaki, Dolmadakia and not to mention the complimentary pita and olives provided when you're seated. As an after dinner surprise, a complimentary bowl of Greek donuts (Louukoumades) - filled with liquid honey - AMAZING! Xenia should be on everybody's list in Howard County.
