On March 18, 2010, Hamme had a total population of 24,026. The total area is 40.21 km² which gives a population density of 578 inhabitants per km². The current mayor of Hamme is Herman Vijt, from the CD&V (Christian Democratic) party.

Always busy in 'taverne oud gemeentehuis' and the customers + rumours were right..good service & nice price setting. Menu with focus on grill but plenty of other things (pasta/wok/fish etc) are available. I came to this restaurant completely by accident: had gone to the Waasland Shopping Center (just around the corner) and happened to pass there.When you enter, you immediately see that this is a "better" Chinese restaurant. The menu - thankfully - is not as extended as most other Chinese, but again, you see that this is out of the ordinary. Prices, of course, are also somewhat higher.Imagine my suprise when I discovered that they had a luncheon menu for ... EUR 15,00! You have the choice of 15 or so soups/first courses, and 20 or so main courses. You also get an appetizer (delicious!) and an ice cream or coffee afterwards.The only reason I give a "very good' instead of an "excellent" rating is that I was not too keen on the tomato soup; otherwise it was all splendid.I'll certainly be back here and I wholeheartedly recommend this place for lovers of good Chinese food.

I adore these little restaurants who know what they want you to experience. You want great meat, wonderfully cooked on a wood stove, great service? Come here. End of line. I had a succulent entrecôte steak with baked potatoes. Great flavor!But here's my big surprise: we had a very good carpaccio with Puglia Burrata. The burrata was soft, creamy, a little bit chewy, with massive flavours, lightly drizzled with great olive oil and some pepper. Hmmm ... took me back to the little village in Italy where I had this for the first time. Now I need to go back to try their slow-cooked option. Kudos guys!
