This place is amazing. Be prepared to eat because you want to and get very full because it is fantastic food. They only do set menus but there are a range, the cheapest being 19 euros in the evening. A great choice of courses and whatever menu you are on there is unlimited cheese, a choice of at least 6 desserts plus a huge bowl of fruit. The family who run this place are absolutely lovely... Could not fault at all their attention to service but at the same time making you feel very welcome. Lovely people and fantastic food. I only ate half of my dessert and they were genuinely worried I could not eat it as didn't like it. I loved it, just could not eat it as don't really eat desserts and had eaten far too much cheese!! I also left some of a complimentary amuse bouche only because it had cucumber in it which I cannot eat. Was given the most amazing chilled carrot and ginger soup in it's place without even asking! Will definitely be back next time am staying in the neighbourhood with my friend who has a place about 15 minutes drive away. Thank you so much for making my second experience as good as the first one Hotel de la Poste! A la prochaine!

We were looking for somewhere to eat and everywhere was full; a couple stopped us and spontaneously recommended Le Campagnard; it is signposted but not as central as some others. The gentleman said it was the best beef he'd tasted but we had the plat de jour - at just â¬12 it was a three course meal set menu with more wine than a driver could safely drink included. A lovely local atmosphere with good quality food at a bargain price. Little English and no English menu but a big smile and genial hospitality.

Perfect place with simple and extremely delicious dishes.Good wine choice, the owner who is welcoming his guests with a warm smile and a glass of excellent porto-this was what we've found after a two hours of walk in Brioude.Shall you be in Auvergne don't forget to visit a cozy old town of Brioude and la Cave gourmande.P.S. If you are not hungry just pass by to have a look at a little grocery situated right in the entrance to the restaurant ;)
