Great location, Buildings nothing special on the outside but once you get into the restaurant the place is warm, cozy and welcoming. We had carrot soup, very good, salad wasnt comparable to ultrafresh organic but good enough, some cold cuts a pot of tea ( assam) not the best ive ever had sadly, and a slice of very good cake. I appreciate the fact that tea is served in china, you get a big pot, old rugs add colour on bare floorboards, old comfy chairs invite you to stay, there are rose patterns on everything and unlike the more utilitarian style of swiss or german cafe this place is like visiting your aunt betty for tea ( only being in germany, unlike your aunt bettys its really warm inside) - a fireplace in every room, friendly waitstaff, a bit harried, not fast but that s fine. Easily spent 3 hours relaxing. One complaint - if you pay with a credit card and the bill is less than 40 euros they charge you 2 euros on top - they tell you when you want to pay which is fine, but for 2 people without alcohol 40 euros is a high bar (afternoon snacks not lunch) - still 5 stars because whats in the box is whats on the box and i know of no other place this charming serving scones and clotted cream in the basel areaDear Polianthusthank you so much for your warm feedback. I am glad that you appreciated our house. We always try to create a nice atmosphere for our guests. You mentioned thatthe vegis could be improved which I totally agree. Winter is a bit difficult, but our chef has already worked out a contract with a local biofarmer for all our vegetables and our gardeners are about to sow all kinds of herb- and vegetable seeds in the greenhouses.( We mostly get seeds from Sarah Raven ).So from spring onwards everything will be fresh as a daisy, so I hope.We are looking forward to seeing you again some time when the gardens are at their best.With kindest regardsGisela Seidel

Wonderful, old country guest house with a traditional beer garden. Regional, hearty dishes, reasonably priced. Child-friendly.

While it isnât true like somebody suggested here on TA that this remote village restaurant wonât see any (Asian) tourists (the table next to us was occupied by a bunch of Taiwanese males, another table by a German fellow with his exotic Latin wife), I consider this remote local Gasthaus as one of the most unique village Gasthauses I have ever experienced. We ate way too much here, the Schwabian delicacies were simply hard to pass. So good! Some English is spoken, our fabulous young waitress was a great help in translating the âAlemanianâ menu. Donât overlook the splendid mechanical music machines inside the dining area. Donât miss this opportunity! Outside beer garden seating available when weather permits. We had reservations, however at the particular evening they were not necessary. After dinner take a stroll through the fabulous scenic village, see the house with the witch (50 cents introduced into a slot makes her come out and talk!), and first and foremost the stork refuge and breeding sanctuary. So beautiful! Worth a detour!

Avons passé une agréable soirée.Nous étions en début de service nous avons diné dans un temps normal. Des gens arrivés en fin de service avaient un temps dâattente assez long.Etablissement accueillant dans un décor contemporain, chaises très confortables.Tous les plats étaient bons. Les soupions de la suggestion du jours extras.Pour un gastro la carte est variée avec un bon choixAccueil disponibilité et gentillesse de lâensemble de lâéquipe.Nous y retournons en semaine pour déjeuner.
