Purdy's Farmer & The Fish

After hearing and reading many positive reviews about this establishment, we stopped while driving home. The parking is very limited, but we managed to find a spot. We planned on just eating at the bar, but upon entering found that there were no empty seats at the bar, so we opted to stand in the small bar area to wait for a placed at the bar to open. The young hostess completely ignored us despite our standing right in front of her; she appeared as other reviewers mentioned more concerned about her own appearance than the flow of customers she ignored-but while one might contribute her attitude to her age, the real problem was the manager/owner? This person, a man in his sixties very casually attires, appeared at her station and could not have been more rude to many customers including myself. While walking past customers in the crowded bar he would not bother with the courtesy of an “excuse me” but simply rudely pushed his way past. However when a customer known to him appeared he went out of his way to accommodate them. I witnessed the same behavior numerous times and was amazed at his rude and pretentious behavior. We were able to find seating at the bar and found the service and food subpar at best-no silverware or napkins came with our dinner until we asked (multiple times). If you want a pretentious atmosphere with rude and unprofessional staff added to food that was below average at best, then this be a place to try. Personally I will never return.

We had heard of Rick's for a few years, and decided to visit. Three of us. First, let me say that the staff was certainly willing and anxious to please, but they were understaffed and the kitchen was slow. Service suffered. My stuffed lemon sole was dried out, although the veggies accompanying it were good and fresh. Bread for the table was hard and cold, and we did say something about it, but the waitress told us it was hard because it was toasted. My friend's trout was good, but not exceptional. My husband's pasta was soggy. Time between courses was dragging - as I said, they are understaffed and simply cannot handle a full restaurant. As the evening progressed, waitstaff showed the stress. Too bad. The area can use a good seafood restaurant.

Prime 957 Steakhouse , located in the space formerly occupied by the Chophouse , is a fresh new restaurant in Mahopac. The first thing you notice upon entering is the transformation of the dining room from it’s formerly dark and dingy feeling to a bright, airy , and modern space . The mood that the new decor inspired , was just the beginning of a great dining experience. The service was very attentive without being overbearing . We had the house salad , and Cowboy steak (ribeye ) , accompanied by hot, crispy French fries, and al dente broccoli .Delicious. The wine list was adequate, and we had a moderately priced Cab Sav that was excellent. A full bar is also available. The coffee at the end of our meal was fresh , hot , and not an afterthought , which is also the hallmark of a great dining experience. My only recommendation to enhance the dining experience , would be to have a more hearty bread accompanying the meal, rather than a generic soft roll . I definitely recommend 957 for a great dining experience .The transformation of this dining spot is truly exceptional !
