Reviews on Seafood food in Plattsburgh, New York, United States. Sitting only 18 miles South of the US border with Quebec, Plattsburgh was once a major hub in the fur trade with Montreal. The city is made for walking, full of beautiful turn of the century buildings and manicured parks. A River Walk follows the Saranac River as it cuts through town, ending at the shores of Lake Champlain, home to Champy, the American cousin of the Loch Ness Monster. The surrounding area is part of Adirondack Park, America's largest wilderness preserve outside of Alaska.

We had a department Holiday party before Christmas and the decision was made to get it catered by this establishment. On the nose! I can't comment on eating in but the office delivery of the food was awesome as far as my lunch was concerned. I got the Asian Tuna Salad which was sesame crusted tuna, seared rare, mixed greens, spicy wasabi peas, mandarins, almonds and sesame-ginger vinaigrette for 15.99. It was awesome and gluten free if you NEED that requirement. Apparently MOST of the Signature Salads here are gluten Free SO that's a selling point. Someone got the Warm Salmon Salad which ALSO went over well. Some got a soup and a sandwich and I heard ZERO complaints. I would definitely go and have a sit-down lunch or even dinner for that matter based on the offerings.

Mainely Lobster & Seafood

I "discovered" Mainely Lobster and Seafood four years ago, upon the recommendation of a motel clerk.Amazingly I forgot about it for my first night in town on this trip. Then looking for more restaurants on TripAdvisor I was reminded of it.In town for 4-nights, I ate here for three of them. The food is wonderful, the service superb, and your meals come quickly. They have great nightly specials, and this place is very popular with locals. While visiting I had Mother's Plattah one night: haddock, scallops, shrimp and "real" clams (full bellied, not strips), with a huge baked potato and slaw. The two remaining nights, I had haddock with clams, then haddock with scallops. Again with huge baked potato and slaw. The meals are big (you can get a smaller version) and you will NOT leave hungry. And everything is cooked to perfection, even the baked potatoes: not microwaved, actually baked, and cooked perfectly. They also have a wide variety of desserts, and I had to try the Coconut Cream Pie (as takeout). Absolutely delicious, and made on the premises, with real whipped cream, not the soybean/lard stuff they use in commercially made pies.HIGHLY recommended.

Dana's Rusty Anchor

Dined here with a party of six on a Wednesday night in August. We have a summer place in Willsboro, and restaurants close to our camp are few and far between. Drove a 1/2 hour to get to Dana's and it was well worth the drive! Some highlights of our meal were the fried calamari, pork osso bucco, broiled haddock, fried haddock, fried scallops, and flat bread pizza. All entrees were very good and served with satisfying sides. The fresh green beans were perfectly cooked. Pork osso bucco was excellent. It was fall off the bone tender, and the papparadelle pasta was a perfect pairing. All of the seafood dishes were fresh and cooked well. Add to this the great view, and it was a very satisfying dining experience. We chose to pay cash, which landed us a 10% discount on our bill. Dinner for six, with a bottle of wine, a beer, two appetizers, and six entrees came to about $220 with tax and a generous tip for our friendly and attentive waitress.
