La Bamba II Mexican and Spanish Restaurant serves good Mexican food with lunch specials under $10.00. The restaurant is located in strip mall, and has classic Mexican restaurant décor with high tables, regular tables, booths and a bar. One of us and family members had a late lunch here on a Monday around 1:30 PM. We were seated and provided drinks quickly. Our server was friendly and helpful. One of our family members is a local and has been coming here for many years. The chips and salsa were very good. They furnish two kinds of salsa and the hot salsa has a bit of a kick (always appreciated). Among the lunch specials we ordered were a Beef Taco with Rice and Beans, and a Cheese Quesadilla (photos are attached). The portions were very large and the meals were both tasty. Coming from the Southwest, we are spoiled when it comes to imaginative Mexican cooking hence our 4 out of 5 rating for this establishment – very good but not excellent. The restaurant was quiet after the main lunch hour so we had no problems conversing. We also had nice seats by a large window and appreciated the sunlight. Bottom line, if you are looking for a good affordable Mexican meal in Margate, La Bamba is worth a try. This is one of the few authentic Mexican taquerias in Southeast Florida. Being small businesses they tend not to make it to the normal "Mexican restaurant" searches on the major mapping websitea. I found Taqueria Michoacana simply by noticing it as I drove by.When we entered we could see the usual horchata (one of my favorites) and juices and the jukebox was playing. Even though it was mid-afternoon on a Saturday there were a number of apparently Hispanic patrons eating lunch. So far so good. The menus were a bit tattered but the selection was good. We ordered carnitas, one tamal verde, chiles rellenos and the usual chicken nuggets and french fries for my son.The horchata was good; I enjoy the variation between restaurants (thank goodness it doesn't taste exactly the same everywhere). The tamal, ordered a la carte, came next. It was plain (not a lot of green sauce) but spicy. The carnitas were tender and delicious and the portion was large. The chiles rellenos was good, but the deep fried coating on the peppers got soggy in the tomato sauce. The dish was tasty if not my favorite chile relleno presentation. The refried beans and rice were also very good; the rice was on the yellow side, presumably from saffron. My son's chicken nuggets seemed to be the Tyson dinosaur-shaped variety; just fine for his very unadventurous spirit. As we were already "stuffed" by the end of the meal we took our "to go" boxes and left without trying any desert.Taqueria Michoacana is a straight-up neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Expect a simple restaurant with a good selection and good food and you won't be disappointed.

Zona Fresca- Coral Springs

If you want fast, inexpensive, and healthy Mexican food than look no further than Zona Fresca. They serve up tacos, quesadillas, and burritos filled with your choice of protein which can be steak, chicken, or fish. This is also a good choice for vegetarians because all of the options can have the meat replaced with beans. I was offered a plate of fresh chips to snack on while I waited for my food. They have a salsa bar with a variety to choose from including hot and mild, pico de gallo, and tomatillo. They also include fresh lime slices which I like to squeeze over my food. My go to meal is usually the Cali Wrap. It includes chicken, cheese, avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro and lettuce, tossed in lemony dressing. Everything is made fresh to order. I found the staff to be very friendly and the restaurant was clean. This is a solid location to dine in.
