I have been to Umami several different occasions already. Before I used to order Hibachi stuff and I like the steak fries calamari. My daughter always ordered their JungbongSoup and some of their tempuras. It’s good but it’s not something super special. Their fried rice is on a bit salty side. I hope they’ll put more into it like more onions, carrots, peas and egg. Those weren’t there. They need to tone down the saltiness. However, these past few weeks me and my family go there and enjoyed their sushi more. And it’s our first time to go there on a Wednesday and waitress told us it’s sushi night meaning if you order 2 sushi from their Umami Signature Rolls you’ll pay for the price of one instead of two! So it’s a sushi party for us! Me and my daughter enjoyed their yumi yumi roll and I also liked the lobster roll and key west. My husband always have different sushi and he really enjoys them. So that’s really a good thing. However, there are also certain things I guess that has to improve there. First of all, their high chairs need to be cleaned and sanitized. It’s always greasy whenever we asked for one. I had to wipe it twice with wipes and clean it for our baby. Not really hygienic and even booster chair isn’t that clean. I hope they’ll also take pride on those. I am not being OCD here but really it has to change. In the sushi serving, they’re kinda a bit stingy on giving ginger. So I hope they’ll put more on the side. My husband is gluten free. So every time we go there we gotta have his own gluten free soy sauce. Because before when he asks for some GF soy sauce they said they ran out of it then there was two occasions where that Asian dude told us that they don’t give those much because they’re like saving it for dishes blah blah.. I mean my husband didn’t ask for a bottle of it you know. So from then on we have to have our own. But that’s a hassle because there were plenty of times we wanted to eat there but when hubby doesn’t have his gf soy sauce with him we cancel our food trip there. So I hope they’ll stop being stingy on that gf soy sauce. Cleanliness wise, they have to step it up. I noticed floors weren’t that cleaned and even some utensils seemed like it wasn’t washed well. Oh yeah and the hibachi cooks there... they need to put more energy and entertainment value in it so people will enjoy more being seated on the hibachi area.We stopped seating there because it’s boring. Unlike some other hibachi restos we’ve been to where there was a lot of enthusiasm from the hibachi master and customers were really enjoying it like we got a good show going while waiting for our food. Umami needs that really bad. Overall experience there, was good. But again, there’s always room for improvement.

Fuji Japanese Steakhouse

Took my granddaughter, daughter and husband here and thoroughly enjoyed our evening out. As always, we had delicious steak, shrimp and chicken grilled on the Hibachi. Our chef was funny, experienced and made special arrangements to cook mine before the others, as I have a shellfish allergy. He was entertaining and playfully interacted with his guests. It is quite noisy, but otherwise the food was amazing and I would definitely rate this as one of the best restaurants in Conway.

Looked forward to eating here since they recently opened. I can eat any sort of Far East food so no problem, but menu is very limited if there are picky eaters. Service was good and friendly. Place was redecorated from the previous restaurant and is nice. Food is very good. Would have rated it higher with more menu choices.
