La Grimpette

I had a dinner here on Tuesday (6-11-2013), on the recommendation of the kind hostess, we ordered a bottle of Givry, and local ham/sausage, tasted really good. It is a small restaurant, but a good one, anyone come to Le Creusot should try it.

Le Restaurant du Chateau

Reviewed By Gordon W

We had a Friday lunch at Le Restaurant du Chateau. The restaurant is situated in a former priory of indeterminate age and has lovely vaulted ceilings. The decor is simple but very stylish and there is ample natural light. Our table had a lovely view of the lake. There was no carte but a choice of 3 menus - 15, 26 or 34 Euros. We had one menu at 26 Euros and one at 34 Euros. The entrees were intriguing. In the 26E menu, "finger d'epoisses" blocks of local cheese wrapped in pastry and fried with a garnish of salad (including flowers). In the 34E menu, "etuve de morilles" a creamy sauce of poached quail eggs with mushrooms accompanied by rice paper like wafers. In the 26E menu, the main course was "croustille de caille" - pieces of quail with citron. The quail had been deboned, seasoned and reassembled. In the 34E menu, the poisson was St Pierre with orange. Tender morsels of St Pierre with an engaging orange/citron sauce.4E plat de fromage offered a selection of at least 12 cheeses (including a particularly nice camembert with calvados).Desserts continued to enchant with fresh zesty flavours - as you will see from the photos they looked so good that we had started to eat them before we thought to take a picture.Great value at 103 Euros in total including apperitifs and a bottle of cremant.Verdict - very fresh, very inventive, lovely location, good but unobtrusive service - we'll be back with friends.
