Top 10 Villas in Ohio, United States

April 19, 2023 Jacquiline Darosa

If you are looking for an active place to stay with world-class attractions, Ohio’s major cities can satisfy any vacation desire. Each offers its own distinct flavor of fun, from professional sports – Bengals (Cincinnati), Cavaliers (Cleveland) and Indians (Cleveland again) – to museums, outdoor activities and more. One of the most famous is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. If football is your thing, don’t miss the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. For the science-minded, visit the meat eaters at the Carnivore Conservation Center in the Wilds near Cambridge, dedicated to the breeding and scientific study of endangered mid-sized carnivores. Kids will also love Planet Snoopy in Sandusky or the Columbus Zoo’s Zoombezi Bay Waterpark and Jack’s Landing rides.

Welcome! Harriet's House was built around 1878 by John and Edna Esselbach becoming one of the first residences on the Island. The house still stands today in remodeled form. Nice Getaway!

We stayed overnight in a Villa and really enjoyed the Italian décor. We really felt like we were in Italy! The venues were closer together than I expected and easily walked. the Piazza has not opened for the summer, or we would have liked to eat on the patio. We enjoyed the patio at the Stills for an afternoon snack of biscotti and cappuccino. The live entertainment(Eric Brooke) that night was good also. The dinner at the Crush house was excellent! Our breakfast was delivered in about 10 minutes and eaten on our patio, which was very European, overlooking the pond. Beautiful weather! The amenities in the villa were nice: towel warmer, working fireplace, great shower. The common area is nicely decorated and comfy. It would be fun to go with other couples and share the whole Villa, so you have a private area to gather, especially in bad weather. Fridge there to hold personal food/beverages.

Beautiful Estate Lovely Experience

This is a true hidden gem of a little hotel. We made reservations just a few days before our get away weekend to the Cleveland area. We selected the Burke room with a king sized bed. The room was beautifully appointed very spacious with a delightfully comfortable bed. The grounds are lovely. There's a walkway to the tennis courts and the pool and what looked like walking paths in the woods. It was quite chilly when we were there so we didn't walk too long. There's a living room and a library in the public areas as well as a bar area. Because this is a private club they are a bottle only bar. As a guest you're welcome to bring your own. We had dinner in the dining room which was delicious. We split the beet salad with goat cheese and a citrus dressing. My husband ordered the sirloin steak with mushrooms and blue cheese, it was perfectly cooked and served with fries and steamed broccoli. The portions are generous. I ordered the skate puttanesca and it was delicious. It was served with fresh steamed asparagus and spaghetti squash which was well prepared and tasty. They also brought some delicious rolls with an herbed butter. They were not busy so there was no breakfast available at the club. If you make a reservation you might want to pick up some pastries in town to enjoy with your morning coffee.

Amazing Experience in Conneaut

Reviewed By Redhawk_Marine

We booked the Stevens suite but the poolhouse was available when we arrived. It was perfect for our family of 4. The kids loved being next to the large pool, which Dale made sure was cleaned and heated before we planned to use. The adults loved the space (lots of it!), including a living space with a kitchen, 2 toilet rooms, a rain shower room, a dry sauna, and (in the upstairs loft bedroom) a huge antique tub for soaking. Dale and Sheila were gracious hosts and gave us a tour of the rooms in the main house. All were lovely, but we were still glad they had the poolhouse available.

Great setting!

Reviewed By buckeyenut3

Really a nice place to gather with friends just make sure to set your expectations. We were able to sit outside on the porch and it was really nice. Service was fine, everything seemed clean and presentation was good. Meal was however not good. When looking at the menu prices seemed really reasonable so when we decided to order surf and turf at market prices we really didn't have a concern. Filet and lobster tail was 4 oz filet (probably closer to 3) and 1/2 of a tail. Steak was dry (ordered med rare) and lobster tail was the size of an average shrimp. Herbs on steak were really bitter. Added a baked potato that was good. Shocked when I saw that we paid $52 for the surf and turf. We will be back but for a flat bread and burger.

Bad value, terrible management

Reviewed By Mikhail Alterman

This is not a hotel. It's a regular apartment building. The high resident turnover may make it seem like a hotel. The building has short term and month to month leases. Flooding is horrible. Picture thunderstorms and strong winds, which are common in Cleveland, plus a certain wind direction and the building is going to get a lot of water inside. I'm on the north side facing the lake. See the attached pictures. There are serious structural problems that will take years to correct, literally. This is why I'm able to break the lease. I've started looking for another place. The management is terrible. They treat residents not as paying customers but as short term dirt who they can nickel and dime on everything from water charges to parking card replacements. Read your contract before moving in, try to modify before signing if necessary. The owner was considering replacing the management but hasn't done so. The cars get broken into often. The so-called secure garage is not very secure at all. The cameras are not working as they should, they are a total joke. My car got broken into four times. After the first two times there was nothing to steal - it's best to keep nothing in your car here. The management doesn't want to hear about it: not their problem, read the contract, the garage is a different company, etc. Sporadic elevator and laundry drier outages aren't pleasant. Hallway carpets hardly ever get cleaned. The great location and fantastic views draw people to the building, but like me they don't stay.

Best fishing trip ever

Our rental home was very spacious to accommodate us and some extended family. The home was very well furnished and clean. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen had plenty of pots pans and dinnerware. Appreciated the washer and dryer. We hired a superb charter, captain Terence Smith. We caught big walleye and limited out each day. Just a few steps away we had a fish cleaning station which was very convenient. We also were able to rent our golf carts from right behind our house. We thoroughly enjoyed the home and all the conveniences this rental provided. Will be going back next year. Island club rentals are very accommodating.

5 day Stay AMAZING

Reviewed By anitabW6272KO

First time staying here came for Kings Royal and absolutely LOVED IT!!!! The rooms were spacious, everything was clean, the view out the back patio door of pond was beautiful. Enjoyed setting out there in mornings drinking coffee. Pool was close, the staff were very friendly and we had no problems. Loved walking along Grand Lake and so much to do so close before races started. I will definitely be back for Kings Royal in 2022 and be staying here. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay with lots of things to do close and beautiful views. Thanks for making our stay AMAZING and see you again in 2022 for next Kings Royal.
