Centro Historico De Cusco

The Spaniards sadly destroyed Inca temples and built their churches over them. The buildings around have u inquest wooden balconies to survive the earthquakes. There are so many picture opportunities, there is a green park with benches and the security watches so people do not walk on the green grass. There is a nice water Fountain also. The downside is they charge a fee to enter the churches

Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu

Reviewed By ceebee51 - Chicago, Illinois

Everyone knows about Machu Pichu and it does not disappoint. One of the world's most spectacular archeological sites, reflecting one of the world's most fascinating civilizations. You can never get enough time to hike around the site and you pray that the weather will be good (we had both good and bad weather over a 24 hour period). A hike to the Sun Gate is challenging but doable for older folks. The llamas are Darling. A good guide will enhance the experience if you are the studious type but everyone will be in awe of the place.

Museo Larco

MUSEO LARCO OPENS FROM 9AM TO 10PM, DAILY. The Museo Larco is housed in an exquisite 18th century vice-royal mansion, built over a 7th century pre-Columbian pyramid and surrounded by beautiful Gardens. The museum’s galleries exhibit the finest and most magnificent gold and jewelry treasures from Ancient Peru and the renowned erotic collection, one of Peru’s most celebrated attractions. Founded in 1926 and located in Lima, the Museo Larco holds the largest and most important archaeological collection of Ancient Peru in the world. Peru is known worldwide thanks to the legendary Inca Empire on the Andes Mountains; however few are aware that this society existed only for the last 100 years before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadores. The Museo Larco portrays to the visitor an engaging narrative, recounting 5000 years in the development of Peru’s pre-Columbian history; thus becoming the ideal means to understand and enjoy Ancient Peru. On the Museum’s terraces overlooking its vibrant and stunning Gardens, find Museo Larco´s Café restaurant, where one can savour the best of Peruvian and International cuisine. All in all, it’s accurate to say that to become fascinated by Peruvian history, the journey begins at Museo Larco!

The museum displays many artifacts that illustrate Peru ancient history. It’s amazing and it will take a few hours there. The courtyard garden is colourful and lovely. We had lunch in the restaurant inside the museum and the atmosphere and food was great.

Laguna 69

Reviewed By rapha_y_nici - Canton of Zurich, Switzerland

This seems to be the most famous on day hike around Huaraz and it's worth it to get a feeling for the altitude (nice landscapes as well). On top you can try to swim in the lagoon :-). This day trip was a good and cheap option for acclimatization. The price of about 30-35soles is for the transportation. Transport one way takes about 3 hours. In the morning you do a stop for breakfast after about 2 hours. You get picket up at the hostel at approx 5am.
For the hike up it takes about 2-3 hours. The altitude is no to underestimate but at a slow pace it's possible for almost everyone. There are two steeper sections which are a bit challenging but it's doable!
They say you should start the descent at approx 1pm to be back at the bus at around 3pm. Our bus could leave a bit later than 3pm what seems to be normal. At around 6 your back in Huaraz.
Definitely recommended to do it, nice lagoon and landscapes, convenient and cheap. Nice experience, also to see how you feel on this altitude.

It is worth the climb to the top to see the amazing views of the valley! Take your time if you are not acclimated to the altitude, it's pretty steep and high. Go with a guide to really get the most out of your visit, take your time and appreciate the history all around you. There is a great area for shopping and restaurants at the base of the mountain as well.

My friend and I joined Yojan for a day hike to the Salinas and Moray. Yojan was a wonderful guide with a wealth of knowledgable about the beautiful Peruvian Paso horses, and the area. The horses were well looked after, and well trained. Yojan adapted our ride so we could spend longer on the horses which was great!
This was a really unique way the see the countryside with panoramic views of the Mountains. I would highly recommend this experience! Thank you :)

This is a really beautiful location. Turquoise Lake surrounded by high mountain scenery. Great, flat walk align the south side. Well worth the 1 and 1/2 dirt road ride from Caraz. We hired a private taxi for 100 soles, roundtrip including two hours of waiting. Have lived in Alaska for 40 years. Have seen a lot of beautiful lakes. This one is up there. Don't miss.

Luckily the artefacts were not looted and are on display showing the exquisite workmanship of potters and metal workers! No one should miss this museum. Kuelap Fortress

Reviewed By Jas_5555555 - Vancouver, BC, Canada

Kuélap is not actually a fortress, the community of some 3000 people was built on on top of a solid rock mountain. the 'walls' are actually the foundation of the town, constructed to level off the top on the mountain in two levels for the houses and ceremonial centers. A marvelous and educational trip. Take warm clothing, and rain gear. Weather changes quickly.
