This was my 7th time at the restaurant and as usual it was amazing. I order the Lamb Shank and the pepper steak. We had dinner with the owner who very entertaining and fun to chat with. Visited as friends based on the high rating here and in guide books. With a number of allergies I was limited to a veggie rice dish which was tasty and well cooked, but not quite what I wanted, and felt like for such a well liked place they maybe could have been more accomodating! My friend had the potato with lo mo in which was enjoyed. Lemonades lovely also. Expensive even for Ollantaytambo, but well presented. Probably would return.

We stopped here for the buffet style lunch on a private customized tour and were pleasantly surprised. The grounds are beautiful and most of the food served here is grown on the grounds. Lots of tasty options in both cold and hot dishes. Separate dessert table. There are lots of big tour groups that stop here and that is the only drawback.

Eat here twice, the food was good, the service pleasant and efficient but ...
Well the second time I eat here I had a very good Lomo Saltardo, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but I had clearly ordered a different alpaca dish which I had been assured was available. Perhaps they didn't want to scare me away or worse still did not expect me to notice that the dish I had ordered was composed of very different ingredients to the one I got. OK with a saltardo sauce it is effin difficult to distinguish between alpaca and beef ... but the alpaca dish came with a whole different chorus of ingredients.
They could have said ...oops sorry the cat nicked the alpaca when we left the fridge door open for a second or two or sorry my daughter was too embarrassed to deal with the butcher saying that the alpaca was a bit off but he offered her a really nice bit of beef fillet at a bargain price 'cos that would give the punter a better deal.
The first time I eat here the food was very good and I got what I ordered. My wife also got what she ordered and insisted we go back because it was bl**dy good food.
She also got a lomo saltardo and as she too had ordered the alpaca dish was most angry ... OK perhaps I should have said something, but its a small place, low season and run by nice people.

This lovely hacienda had a beautiful setting with botanical Gardens overlooking the river. The food was mainly Peruvian with great soups, cold and hot appetizers, main dishes including alpaca and a wide array of desserts. We were on a tour bus but the line moved quickly and we had time to explore the grounds and they have a nice gift shop on the premises as well. Service was very good and attentive.

Alhambra Hacienda Restaurant

Reviewed By JayL17 - London, United Kingdom

The restaurant is located in Urubamba in the sacred valley and is situated in the most beautiful Gardens, behind which there is a small llama and alpaca farm. There are also macaws, but having come from the Amazon and learned how sociable these birds are, and how different colour macaws stick to their own, I was upset to see birds of different colours put together. It might be aesthetically pleasing, but not natural for the birds.
The restaurant specialises in Peruvian dishes, served as a buffet. There was food for every type of diet, including several purely vegetable dishes suitable for vegans and numerous salads. The food was excellent, in particular the king fish, which although spicy, was not too hot. The tuna and spinach roll was also delicious.
The meat dishes both looked and smelled goods, and my companions said they were very tasty.
The desserts were made with Peruvian fruits, and I tried both the passion fruit mousse and the lime mousse, both of which were excellent.
The restaurant is off the main road and it is a lovely place in which to have a meal and escape from a hectic sightseeing schedule.
I cannot judge the price because my lunch was included in a guided tour.
