Chris got us on board and under way quickly as he knew dolphins were in the bay. He found them for us and it was an amazing experience, particularly for the children aboard. Then on to searching for fish which again chris found for us. We all caught some and took a few back to the campsite to bbq. This was one of the best trips we've ever done. 9 & 12 year old loved it. Felt very safe and chris is a great teacher with patience of a saint! Would do it again if in the area.

Caerhays Castle is one of the very few Nash built Castles still left standing, and is situated within approximately 120 acres of informal woodland Gardens created by J C Williams, who sponsored plant hunting expeditions to China at the turn of the century. As well as guided tours of the house from March to June, visitors will see some of the magnificent selection of plants brought back by the intrepid plant hunters of the early 1900s - these include not only the collection of magnolias but a wide range of rhododendrons and the camellias which Caerhays and the Williams family are associated with worldwide.

Some of the land of this estate came from the Trewollas of Trewolla Farm, who were some of my ancestors. Too bad they let it go. This farm is still alive and well today and is nearby.Dear Julia Thank you for taking the time to review Caerhays Castle. It is always interesting when people make a historical reference to Caerhays, it helps us and others understand how the estate was formed.

A large selection of well-maintained bikes, and friendly and knowledgable staff who had no problem in instantly selecting bike sizes suitable for our four-person party. The premises are right on NCR 3, with good non-traffic cycle paths to St Austell, Heligan Gardens and Mevagissey. The hill down from Heligan is awesome to cycle down. For £10 per bike (plus £1 for helmet) this was a good-value half-day activity. Locks can also be provided free-of-charge.
Following the cycling, Pentewan Beach is an excellent place to cool off, and the village contains a couple of good cafes. Ice cream and coffee can also be bought from the cycle hire base.

I attempted to visit - followed all the directions, of which there were many, thanks for that. I arrived in good time for the opening hours, but it was a case of 'Sorry, we're closed'. How about putting up a sign a bit earlier than the front door, to save me wasting time travelling down winding lanes to get to you? Very unfriendly and unhelpful.

First time foot-golfer dad with a 8 and 15 year old had a great couple if hours at this well kept imaginative course. A busy half term day but plenty of space and no waiting. Professional engaging staff and friendly mowing man make this a must-do trip for families and adult groups. Really good value as well

How you can review some ones lifestyle and village is difficult apart from being jealous!! This village is a classic Cornwall fishing harbour which is still being used for what it was designed for. Boats are there because they are being used aswell as the lobster and crab pots. How long this will last I don't know and fear it all might explode with the second home owners but at the moment it is a beautiful place to visit and to explore the rugged coastline either side. The people are very friendly and must be very patient with the tourists in season.
There are no street lights apart from security lighting on some properties so the night sky is beautiful when clear. The village has two sides - the old original side with some lovely fisherman's cottages and sail lofts - the other is scattered with newer builds. There is a fairly regular bus service.
A perfect spot.

Unfortunately as the weather was unsuitable for the ferry to operate safely for several days whilst we were in Mevagissey we were only able to use this service once, however it was well worth the wait, there's a very jolly "on board" atmosphere for the short 50 minutes (each way) journey which drops you off within a reasonable walking distance of either town centre.

There appears to be only one path down to the beach which is accessed either from the National Trust Car Park near Lamledra House or by walking the South West Coastal Path - from the south via Dodman Point or from the north via Gorran Haven.
The beach is currently very sandy but, in places, has blown over the seaweed which can cause you to have a sinking feeling when walked across. Generally quiet and sheltered, it has some interesting rock pools to explore.
