il Monte Della Croce

Reviewed By FlamboShambo - Westport, Ireland

The start of the climb to Cross Mountain is a €5 fare from the centre of Međugorje. You can walk to start the climb. It will take you 20-30mins.
The climb itself is a challenge for most. Good footwear is advisable unless you decide to be brave enough and climb barefooted! Ensure you take water with you especially if it is warm and sunny. Wearing a cap to protect from strong summer Sunshine is advisable.
There is an opportunity to pray at the various ‘Stations of the Cross’ along the climb. This provides for multiple rest opportunities along the climb. You will have to deal with many other climbers as individual or groups and these will impact your climb. Take time as you find your best footing.
Reaching the top one has a feeling of achievement. There are good views to be taken in as you take a well earned rest from the climb. You have time to reflect on life and your own personal journey. There is plenty of space to sit and take in the views. This is a very spiritual place and a peaceful part of our sometimes mad world.
Enjoy this experience.

Beautiful countryside and falling water of the Una River. Visiting the two major Waterfalls here in the park and the drive in-between was the best part of our holiday. The scenery was beautiful. Few people except the ocassional farmer or bee keeper. The roads were dirt but not terrible. You need a car to explore the area. If you like Plitvace Lakes, you'll love Una National Park. Well worth the effort to get there.

Mehmed Pasa Sokolovic Bridge

If you are visiting Bosnia, you have to see Mehmed Pasha Bridge in Visegrad!
It became worldwide known thanks to Ivo Andric, a Bosnian novelist, who has written the novel „Bridge over Drina“ and got a Nobel prize for it.
Ivo Andric and his book remains the most translated book and author in general from these parts of the world.
The bridge over Drina is a magnificent work of art spanning the river with 11 large arch and several smaller ones. It is one out of the total number of three UNESCO heritage bridge monuments around the world - of which two are in Bosnia and Herzegovina!
Take a drive with the old Steam engine train - popularly called Čiro, and enjoy some of the breathtaking views!
On your way to Visegrad be sure to make a photo stop in one of the most serene places in the country – the Romanija mt plateau.
If we are lucky we might see some of Bosnian mountain wild horses on the way to and back from Visegrad.

This is why you ventured this deep into Herzegovina. The architecture is spectacular and its recent history sad. It’s beautiful from whichever side is approached, but most impressive from below at the banks of the Neretva River. Dusk being my favourite time of the day to descent down there.

Loved this place. Great views, free parking and an interesting church complete with nearby giftshop and a cool restuarant with childrens play ground attached. The best sight in the area with great sweeping views over Trebinje and surrounding areas.

The most spectacular waterfall in Europe! Imagine having almost Niagara Waterfalls in the middle of medieval town, the ancient Bosnian royal capital. Access to the platform from which one may watch the waterfall from under costs 2 KM - but it is worth paying. Go to the view point on the hill opposite it too.

The historic urban site of Pocitelj

Reviewed By 424tarikd - Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The old Bosnian town Pocitelj was formed as a border post of the ottoman Empire towards Venetian Dalmatia. Such posts were held by so-called captains, and this one went traditionally to the family Gavrankapetanovic (raven captain). so the tower and rich Bosnian house where is the artist colony based are all called after this noble family.

This new museum is a must. Dedicated to showing how children survive during wartime, the exhibit contains toys, clothing, and written memories from children who lived through the Bosnian conflict of the 1990's. Although there are some happy memories, be prepared to be heartbroken.

Kravice Falls

Reviewed By Branko B

Kravice Falls is situated in between Ljubuški, Međugorje and Mostar. The beauty and serenity of the place is so surprising as it lays hidden close to major motorways. There is a small village house type of restaurant next to the lake that the falls supply water to. A must see place!
