Vila Germanica is known by its Oktoberfest that happens during 2 weeks of October. I went there once and spent some of the best parties I've been in my life. People are so happy and are dancing and singing in German all the time. Even if you don't have German roots, the fun is guaranteed. One problem? Crowded and lines and more lines to the restrooms.

As any self-respective party venue this place has all the works. Well placed bathrooms, first aid stations, open food court, tables all around for your chill time. It even has a couple of tiny shopping streets in case you forgot that last minute souvenir, it's great. The music is what you would expect, but it growns on you faster than you would expect. DO go in costume if possible, it just add to the whole experience!

The Cathedral is lovely. The overall town is lovely. A small little town situated in Santa Catarina is filled with the German culture. Come October and it is Oktoberfest here.
The town itself consists of old German flavored houses and buildings while the Cathedral is somewhat a modern structure with the statue of Jesus with some doves surrounding Him. Around the Cathedral are all sorts of shopping malls, shops, and there is a river not too far away. If you would enjoy a walk down a quiet street with a Deutsch feeling in Brazil, Blumenau is the place.

This privately owned natural area is opened to the public on Weekends and holidays only. The very friendly couple welcomed me on this rainy holiday.
There are two short hikes that lead you to Waterfalls, each approx a kilometer in length. There is a long hike all the way to the top (pico) of the Spitzkopf, the highes mountain in the region overlooking Blumenau and the area. A lovely nature experience, with lots of tropic plantlife to observe
The owner with excellent English language skills guided me on a tour to one of the Waterfalls and welcomed me in his home for conversation and coffee. Overall a warmhearted experience.

Not so interesting as almost all brazillian museums. Three floors of old stuff like clothes, toys, etc.All thing are not so old, less 200 years.

Amazing experience watching the glass being blown. Friendly place, with the most beautiful things to buy! I couldn´t make a decision as there were so many gorgeous things - and not marked up at the normal high tourist prices. A bit of a drive out of town, but worth the effort. Situated in a business park. parking. Recommend a visit.

Although its far away from downtown, it's worth the trip. They don't open the factory anymore for visiting, but you can still see something from inside the bar. And speaking about the bar, looks like a genuine pub. Small, dark and lots of beer. Great place for buy beer, glasses and apparel so you can take home.

Heart of the German city Blumenau. That's the main street and first baptized as Sausage Street. Because lots of butcheries were located there and you could find always fresh smoked sausages. But when Brazil proclaimed republic, the locals were forced to change the name by Rua XV de Novembro.
