We enjoyed a splendid lunch here on a Saturday - tasty amuses-bouche of local carpaccio, fork-tender osso bucco with a crunchy veggie gremolata and al dente saffron risotto, and a homemade curacao zabaione over vanilla ice cream. Thank you chef Antonio! The service was warm and friendly and all wines on offer have been tasted by the staff. We live here so we can confirm that this is one of the best eateries in town.

A friend took me to this friendly small restaurant which is tucked away high up overlooking Magadino Plain and Locarno. We had a simple dish of the day comprising of grilled meats and sausages, polenta and vegetables which was served with a smile and was excellent.Well recommended.

Difficult to get in - phone answering is not one of their specialties! The ambiance is nice but not great, service is good but not great, and passion is missing from both service and owner. Overpriced for what people say it is.

We had our marriage reception at the Ristorante San Bernardo and were delighted under every account. Charlotte and her team put together an "Apero Riche" that was amazing for variety, quality and quantity. All our guests were very happy and the day was a complete success also thanks to the fantastic people at San Bernardo. We have visited several other times for drinks and/or dinner and San Bernardo delivers consistent high quality at (very) affordable prices. Many thanks Charlotte & team and keep up the excellent work.

Tripadvisor's advice proved more than right. A typical ticinese atmosphere with outstanding food. We were pampered with excellent food in the next door five star hotel restaurant of the albergo Orselina and wanted something more local. This was the right choice: I had a tasty sepia dish of highest standard as a starter, my companion chose a pasta dish with tomato vodka sauce, also outstanding. The main course was less extraordinary, a good portion of roastbeef with an excellent tartar sauce and a typical beef stew with port sauce and a remarkable polenta. The portions were so genereous that we could not eat a dessert, unfortunately, because the home-made caramel flan looked so tempting. A good Merlot from the region accompanied this sarisfying local meal. The lady who served us spoke fluent German and English and was ever so polite. The price was moderate. Good value for money. We will defintitely be back.

I love good wine and this place really hit the spot for me. My italian is horrible, and their english bad, but we made it work (thank you google translate). Not very busy on a rainy Friday night, so I sat at a table looking over the wine collection - just beautiful - wished my wife and friends who are enophiles could have joined me. I had the local merlot (house wine) and it was great! and reasonable. They had quite the wine selection and you could spend big bucks for the really expensive stuff they had.I had the steak frittes (steak with french fries), can't remember the italian name. Steak was sliced and placed on a warming tray at my table, simmering in garlic butter sauce. I dipped the bread in the sauce when they weren't looking - awesome!!!Really good steak (which I have a hard time finding in Europe) cooked to perfection (rare to medium rare) and great flavor on the sauce. Served with an absolute mountain of thin cut french fries.Grumpy old guy rating: Two thumbs WAY UP!

A very basic, rural, authentic and lovely Osteria with a cozy courtyard and open kitchen! One can smell the delicious bbq from far away and you won't be disappointed! Don't expect anything fancy, back to the basics, amazingly well done! We'll be back for sure!
