Top 10 Specialty lodgings in Castile-La Mancha, Spain

April 26, 2023 Randal Brittian

Castile-La Mancha, a Spanish land of craggy cliffs, golden fields and red soil, produces savory Manchego cheese, olives, saffron and more than its share of mystery. Chase the enduring legend of Don Quixote among the windmills of Campo de Criptana. Pass through the Bisagra Gate to experience the walled city of Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage site that pays stylistic tribute to the Christian, Jewish and Islamic cultures. In Guadalajara, palaces and Baroque churches capture the imagination.

Hospederia Seminario Conciliar de San Julian

The Hospedería del Seminario offers the comfort and charm of staying in an 18th century building on the gorge of the Júcar River. The Hospedería is located in the Conciliar Seminary of San Julián, exactly in the central square of La Merced, one of the most charming places of the historical town of Cuenca, both for its monumentality and for its location within the upper city. It has two interior courtyards, around which the rooms are arranged. Some of them give to the mentioned courtyards; others have a beautiful view to the gorge of Júcar, while others overlook Santa María street, which separates the Seminary from the Castilla-La Mancha Science Museum.

Nice, centrally located hotel

The overall experience was nice. The hotel itself is a town relic, embellished with relics, which attributed to a solemn, but warm atmosphere. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was exceptionally clean and the breakfast was nice. But,as there were two of us,we needed some extra surfaces to place our personal items. Lastly, we happened to stay there during a rather cold period and we felt that the room was insufficiently heated.

Beautifully restored house in the middle of toledos old town - in a very quiet street. Rooms are huge and spectacular. Service and management very friendly and comfortably non intrusive. We rented the apparent as a family with our nanny. Everyone enjoyed the space, the comfort and quietness of the place. Highly recommended.

Clean, Beautiful, and Comfortable Hotel

Reviewed By mimicalarcon

We stayed at Hotel Hierbaluisa for 2 nights; we booked one night, then extended one more night. When we arrived the hotel, no receptionist was there, and a paper notice on the front door said to call to Carmen with her whatsapp number, but our phones signal did not have service in the village, so a previous guest who was waiting for his driver helped us and called the owners' daughter, Carmen. Carmen came immediately and explained the property, and she left. The room was beautifully decorated, the bed was very comfortable, and bathroom was spacious. Carmen served breakfast, and it was very delicious. Her mother's homemade cake and jam were so delicious. We met the owners on the second morning, and they were very sweet and helpful. I highly recommend this beautiful boutique hotel if you stay in Alarcón, Spain. Alarcón is a very beautiful and lovely village.

Horrible Room 101

Reviewed By T7029PMrichardk

My husband and I stayed two nights at this hotel and we have a room 101 at left sides of the entrance, the room was not clean at all, and shower was fine, but many noses outside windows, we do not sleep, because of noses, the two windows is looking over the street, we do not recommend this room for everyone who want to stay at this hotel, before to book ask for good room on the second floor instead of N 101 at down stairs.

Meraviglioso

Reviewed By Simone P

Great find cannot recommend highly enough

We wound up in Valdepeñas drunk and unable to drive home to Madrid. Weather freezing. Asked a local barman to recommend a hotel and ended up here. Lovely clean rooms, warm on arrival (which in the circumstances was awesome), comfortable bed, honesty bar in the summer, and fabulous owner who let us check out at 5pm for zero additional charge because he wasn't expecting anyone else. Great base to explore the wine producing area it sits at the centre of and very close to wonderful local restaurants. If you're doing Spanish wine country, stay here.
