Their sign out front says they have the best lobster rolls. I disagree with that statement but they were pretty good. I have had much better but they were decent. A little tough and not all that tasty but ok. A little better than just average but a little less than very good. Sorry we tried! Thank you for trying Andy's Old Port Pub. And thank you for the four stars even though we didn't live up to your expectations. Andy's uses only the most tender knuckle and claw meat - and only Maine lobster - on real butter-grilled rolls. Ours are traditional Maine lobster rolls - so don't compare us to the restaurants using fancy buns and herbs. The fancy buns and herbs are lobster creations - and the are also delicious - but they're not the traditional Maine lobster roll. Thank you again for stopping in.

Had an outstanding culinary experience, while experience was a great value. I had the 4 course dinner menu which included Oysters, Demi Chirasi, Toro, and Uni (sea urchin) with sake, one of the freshest and beautifully prepared I hade. The service was outstanding, with each course wonderfully described. Others at the table had the Omakase which after seeing made me want to come back and try. While a wonderful Japanese dining experience, it was an outstanding meal for any cuisine.

Just opened and is owned by Hugo's next door. Excellent "tapas" small plate seafood. Oysters from Maine and away. Incredible cured Artic Char.

Since I don't do the raw bar thing, I'm relying on my wife who reports that Eventide serves the best oysters she's had. Many local varieties on the menu. Unique accoutrement of Tabasco Ice.The ceviche is excellent, light & flavorful. Some dishes have a slight Asian slant. The other attraction is their brown butter lobster roll; although a smaller portion, it's dripping with flavor & is outstanding.Usually busy, but wait, if any, isn't log..

Warm and welcoming, crowed and congenial, this is the place for buckets of steamers and a platter of lobster. Try not to come during prime time when the wait could be lengthy. We joined the convivial diners at 5:20 pm and were seated about 10 minutes later. Server was delightful. Huge bucket of steamers (and that was the medium size), 1.25 lobster with corn and more steamers, piping hot and plentiful. Just the type of destination you will find mid Maine but you don't need to drive. Wonderful meal in a perfect setting. Hidden from the tourist crowd, you will need to hunt for this find.

My wife and I dined at DiMillo's prior to her taking a flight from Portland Jetport. First we love Portland. It is a vastly underrated city. We stopped in at Dimillos. They were very busy. The courteous folks at the front desk told us it would be about 45 minutes. OK by us. They gave us one of the paging gizmos and we headed for the bar. The bar folk were very friendly, efficient and knew theri business. Our Gizmo went off after about 10 minutes and we were directed to the main dining room. The room is huge, darkish and crowded. Our server, however, was right on top of things and was attending us within a few minutes. My wife had the Chicken Parmesan and I hade the Prime rib. Both dinners were perfection as was the bread, wine and salads. The price was reasonable too! All around a great experience.

David's Restaurant

My wife and I visited the last Friday night in September, never having visited this area before. We were seated promptly, outside as requested. It took ten minutes for the server, Alicia, to pay a visit, take our drink, dinner and appetizer order. When she did, she seemed distracted like she'd rather be elsewhere. After another ten minutes, she appeared with my wife's lobster dinner accoutrements, and our appetizer, calamari, which was ice cold. She seemed perplexed that our drinks had not been served.....she then brought them a few minutes later. The entrees arrived soon after and were hot, but visits to us to periodically check for drinks or water were few and far between. It seems like the kitchen produces good food, but there is a logistical issue getting it to the table at peak quality, and, server attention to detail is lacking. For a meal that will run $100 with drinks, there are likely better options.

Scallops are the one seafood I try wherever I go and this restaurant had probably the best preparation of them I have ever had. Cooked perfectly with just the right amount of light sauce and accompanied by a tasty dark bulgar side (usually I hate bulgar but this was very good). Scallops were atop al dente asparagus accompanied by Standard Baking’s rustic bread. Perfect service and tasteful but fun decor. Can’t wait to return

Just recently was in Maine for a family getaway traveling through Portland and we decided to eat at Scales. We saw good reviews and were excited to have dinner there. We definitely were glad we did. All around excellent experience. We made reservations and were seated right away. Staff were great. Very prompt and took care of us from beginning to end of our meal. The atmosphere and decor is very modern and very welcoming. Had a partial view of the pier. We had clam chowder and the corn bread. Highly recommend those as starters. For our meals we had the pan roasted lobster, lobster roll and the Arctic Char. They were all excellent! With our meal we had the Portland Pale Ale and Oxbow local ales. Really good! For desert we the Baked Alaska and Chocolate cream pie. Both good but the Baked Alaska is one of the best desserts we have had in awhile. Definitely recommend Scales if you are in Portland looking for a great experience and meal. We definitely will stop back if we are in Portland again. Enjoy!!

My wife and I had dinner here last week while visiting the Portland area. We really liked everything about this place, from the warm welcome, to the excellent and relaxed service, to the outstanding and refined version of Greek food that is on offer here. We are already wanting a return engagement. Everything was terrific, but I especially recommend the scallop appetizer and their take on cheesecake for desert. Do not miss this place. It stood head and shoulders above the other "fine dining" option we tried while in town.

This is one of the 'old-school' restaurants in the greater Portland area. Ate there for the first time and had the fried oysters, with fries and cole slaw. The oysters were delicious -- very fresh and cooked in a light batter. The fries and cole slaw were also good. Impressive menu, with lots of blackboard specials; nice wine list, some intriguing craft cocktails, and a limited draft beer selection -- the Portuguese vinho verde wine was refreshing. Cozy ambiance and tasteful decor, with a little bar in the corner and a screened-in deck out back. I found the prices reasonable, especially since the restaurant's in exclusive Cape Elizabeth. Friendly service.
