Welcome to our cozy a la carte restaurant. Here we serve delicious locally inspired dishes, exquisite gourmet experiences and a host of delightful desserts, accompanied by choice coffees. Our lovely Terrace overlooking the sea is open for service during the summer.
A nice and newly renovated hotel. The hotel is in a very small town - some cosy small houses and few shops - otherwise not much to do. But close to Knuthenborg and beautiful nature.
Staff was very friendly and we had a large aparment in the building next door - so don't know how the rooms in main building look. One minus is that there's no real bar og area for just hanging out/having a pre-dinner drink. Only a couple of couches in the reception. Food was nice and a little "retro" - but well prepared.

Sailed to Femø recently and ate both lunch and dinner at Femø Kro. The inn, which dates from the 1600s, is beautifully located at the top of a small rise looking out to the sea. There is a small grass strip runway next to the restaurant and if you are lucky you may see planes land or take off. Despite its location the food was only average, with "new" potatoes that did not appear to be new, and poor salad which appeared to be mostly iceberg, tasteless lettuce. Lunch was better than dinner. The restaurant does serve some excellent, but overpriced European beers. The dark Begian was great but cost 80 DKK. The inn offers some excellent weekend or overnight packages which may be better value considering all included. They do have a van that will pick you up at the Harbour.

I would probably rate this place with 4 stars only somewhere else, but after spending one week in Maribo and getting disappointed with all the other places I have been this one clearly stands out.
The food was decorated nicely and tasted good. Service was friendly. Can definitely recommend this place.

We live in Denmark and get plenty of this kind of food, but we rarely tour this part of the country, so we felt like tourists. We just stumpled across this place and had a very pleasant meal.
There were lots of danish classics on the menu and the ones we had (biksemad and a plate of various fish) were tasty and well prepared. Prices were good.
Food came quickly and the service was friendly. They were very helpful, we needed a few things printed and they took the time to help us, and told us all about the establishment and local area in the meantime.

We have really enjoyed our meal at our car trip from Sweden to The Netherlands. The soups could be served in nicer porcelin (real European standard cups, smaller than at average Thai Restaurant). Though the food was of good quality and adjusted to more spicy upon our wishes.
Definitely worth a visit, though not a WOW-experience.

Dined at Hotel Saxkjobing Sunday the 22/6/2014 with 3 girlfriends from the UK. The restaurant had confirmed 5 days before that it was possible to cater for a vegetarian for the tasting menu. I had informed my friends about Claus Meyer and his impact on Danish cooking so they had high expectations.
When we arrived we reminded the staff about the vegetarian but it had never been mentioned to the chef so nothing had been prepared. The waiter was hugely apologetic. It was not a big issue and we opted for the ala carte instead. The chef kindly cooked a special main for the vegetarian which was slightly disappointing. They very kindly did not charge for it.
The rest of us were very happy with our food which was tasty and beautifully presented. We loved the fact that the focus was on sourcing local food from the Islands.
The restaurant is in an old charming building in the main square. The dining room is lovely and simply decorated with a nice Scandinavian feel. The prices are very reasonable however the service needs to be improved. The girl was extremely sweet and polite but seemed inexperienced and overworked which affected the service. The restaurant was full which is fantastic for a Sunday night.
Ordered a Lolland Kir Royal and received a sherry looking drink which was not very nice. When queried, it turned out to be an error and we received the correct Kir Royal for free as compensation.
When back in Denmark, I would definitely give the restaurant a second try. –and hopefully by then the service has improved and staff will be more confident.

A really lovely place in stunning settings however a pity that service and food was a disappointment.
We had dinner here on a Saturday night and did not know that there was a big dinner party in another room which probably explains why the service was non-existent.
The starters were fabulous but then it went downhill. Unable to get the waiters attention we waited 1 hour between starter and main. When the mains finally arrived the meat was uneatable with grizzle and fish and potatoes overcooked. We could not be bothered with dessert.
As we came to pay for the bill, we had to remind them of the drinks we had consumed because they were missing on the bill.
If you like to try this restaurant I would recommend asking if there is big dinner party on to ensure good food and attention from waiters.

Delightful family run restaurant near the centre of Maribo. The service was welcoming and although the menu was fairly minimal the steaks are outstanding. I loved that you could choose from a range of 3 sizes 150 grams upwards and different sauces to go with it. All perfectly cooked and served with the freshest of vegetables. All in all very delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant for both price and quality. They really deserve to do well.

The Cafe Xanthos does not look very impressive from outside, but when entering we saw that it was popular. Our order was taken relatively fast and our pizzas were soon on the table.
We were both very impressed. The pizzas were very tasteful and very well prepared.
Maribo is maybe not a place you visit except if you are coming from or going to the Rødby ferry (Denmark - Germany). If you are hungry and have time, stop at Cafe Xanthos for a pizza. You will not regret it.
