Knuthenborg Safari Park

This is how a "ZOO" should be. Most of the animals have large areas to roam 'free'. So if you want to get close to wild and exotic animals, and not traveling the globe, this is the best solution. Especially for the animals involved, as they have a much better life here, than in small concrete cages that is the norm in normal ZOO's.
They also have a relative new play land with lot's of good entertainment and rides for the children. This is a definite winner.

We loved our trip to this Medevil center. There are daily tournaments with Knights, which was a real treat. Lots to see, do and experience. The kids loved it too.

Maribo Domkirke

A majestic Cathedral in a small, almost deserted town, going back to the Sta. Birgitta monastery days, surrounded by a park, lake and an old grave yard. Too bad the church was closed. There were some ruins close by , probably connected to the monastery. Peaceful place, good experience.

Fuglsang Kunstmuseum

This was an amazing find: a lovely museum of recent and contemporary Danish art in the middle of the countryside. But, even better, was the ambiance in which Fuglsang Kunstmuseum is situated. After exploring the art inside, we walked through the Gardens of the old farm and estate.
Allow enough time to talk a leisurely walk!
We loved Copenhagen but it was really great to get away from the city and see another Denmark.

Dodekalitten

Reviewed By supaken - London, United Kingdom

Visited in February expecting to enjoy a surreal experience on a parallel transcendental plane.
Found six concrete posts sticking upright out of the ground on an exposed hillside, two of which had faces carved into the tops with a third being work in progress. Could not understand why the posts were not carved on the ground then raised rather than raised then carved.
After all of the hype, this was a huge disappointment. There was nowhere to sacrifice misbehaving children or anywhere to have ritual sex - which was the original point of the stone circles of old.
It was so windy that you could not hear any music without bending down and sticking your head close to the speakers, and even then, the music sounded similar to the sad fog horn of a sinking ship.
To get there, you either walk through some woods from the nearby village or approach from the coast, park in a handicapped parking bay and walk across the hill top to the stones.
Hope you get more out of this place than we did. Our thoughts were that it was a stupendous waste of money and that the joke was on us for wasting our time to find and visit. We came, we looked and we laughed.

Nysted Havn

Reviewed By GOGASCH - Seoul, South Korea

We visited Nysted by boat after ten years years but could not find anymore the familiar atmosphere within the yachting community at the Nysted marina. The place seems to be dead even by end August. Not even the harbourmaster felt obliged to be present at the marina, no place open at night time, either.

Frilandsmuseet

Homes & outbuildings of mostly 19th Century rural Denmark sprawling over a beautiful patch of land. Very clearly signposted in Danish & English. Signposting introduced the occupants of each house, & gave an inventory of their livestock which personalised it & helped us to understand the history (my 12 yr old daughter was very keen on this).

Traveling from Copenhagen to Denmark. Had to cross the Baltic Sea on a ferry. Whole train drove right onto the ferry.
Then train passengers, like car passengers walk up to the level with buffet, duty free, shops.
Fun and a first time for me. Fun food too!

Peter Hansens Have

Reviewed By supaken - London, United Kingdom

Large variety of trees, shrubs, flowers and aquatic plants spread across a large garden. We went in July so missed the famous Rhododendron display. The garden has a maze of paths - you are given a map but we still got lost - which was part of the fun. Some of the trees were specimens that we had never seen before. The garden has several ponds and is home to a large population of noisy and visible bright green frogs. Ladies seeking their prince charming have a large selection of frogs available for kissing in order to find their man. There is no car park, so park in road outside.
