Top 10 Resorts in Andalucia, Spain

April 26, 2023 Randal Brittian

Distinctive architecture, sun-drenched resorts and eclectic small towns dot Andalusia, a dry, mountainous region of southern Spain that maintains echoes of its Moorish occupation. Spring and fall bring balmy temperatures, ideal for visiting Seville's cathedral, the world's largest Gothic structure, and the 1,200-year-old mosque in Córdoba. Romantics love Granada, home to the fortress of Alhambra and an inspiration to the late poet Federico García Lorca. Don't miss a dip in the sea along the Costa del Sol.

Fantastic Service and Location!

Spent two nights here over a weekend, from arrival to check out we were greeted and hosted by big smiles and friendly staff. A special thanks to Daniela Kewitschi and Sam Bigome who greeted us on arrival and helped us with bookings and local knowledge!! (tough to find spaces at the best restaurants and clubs, make sure you speak to them). The check in staff & valets Natasha Chepou, Josefina Pineto who assisted with helping track down our luggage the airline had lost (It arrived a day later, with the team at Don Carlos following up once we had given them the details as well as making sure we had all the toiletries needed) Overall it was a very pleasant stay and we were well looked after, parts of the hotel are slightly dated and could do with touch ups, but the cleanliness, location and access to the beach (& Nikki Beach Club) were exactly what we were looking for! Thanks to the team, and will definitely be back!

Great premises, great location, fantastic beach - impersonal service

Reviewed By honeybee134

Very efficient - apart from impolite hostess seating in the main restaurant which lead to long waiting times to get a table on the terrace. It seemed as if we were there to serve hotel staff and not visa versa. Great vacation nevertheless.

Outstanding view, very friendly staff and magnificent hotel

Absolutely amazing!! my family and I have been there several times in the last 2 years and we have enjoyed every single one of our stays. The hotel staff are exceptional and the morning buffet is just amazing. The hotel itself is magnificent and the view you get to the sea can’t be beaten by anything . Since we are frequent guests we even got upgraded to the Seaview Suite room, it was simply outstanding. The room was giant, the balcony was huge and the view again is just too good. The weather in Malaga is always great even when we go in slightly colder periods of the year. Thank you so much!!

Lovely hotel for those both with and without children!

Reviewed By Zippythailand1

Lovely hotel, beautiful setting. Excellent food, lots of space for sunbathing and grounds and pools all lovely. The staff were all excellent, but in particular Meri and Dani at the children’s club were amazing with our son. He had never been to a kids club before and they put him at ease straight away. Every day he would come back with all the lovely things he had made, he didn’t ever want to leave! We stayed in the red level which was lovely, with food and drinks available all day. My only negative of the hotel is the mattresses were incredibly hard and uncomfortable.

A brilliant long weekend wedding!

Reviewed By bevvv97

A fantastic trip from start to finish. We stayed from Friday-Sunday with a wedding in between on the Saturday. The facilities were great! Huge, clean and cool pool, great restaurant with yummy poolside meals, great selection at breakfast and a staff who were extremely accommodating and friendly. Rooms were also impeccably clean and had everything you would need for the weekend; shower worked well, air conditioning worked well and room was spacious with a safe. The rooms were also incredible value for money, meals at the restaurant were cheap and so was breakfast. As for the wedding, the staff at ilunion hacienda mijas exceeded all expectations. The event was organised brilliantly from start to finish. Staff were extremely attentive to guests and their needs, constantly supplying people with food and drinks, always smiling and friendly which makes all the difference, and just generally very pleasant. We all had a great time and commented on the quality of the decor, food and ambiance. The ceremony by the pool was beautiful with views out to the coast, the canape area was also beautifully decorated and so was the indoor food/dance hall. Overall, what a beautiful place to stay for the weekend AND host a wedding! Will definitely be recommending to all family and friends. Fantastic job all at Hotel Ilunion Hacienda Mijas!

Parador de Cadiz

A new Parador for a new century. A new building representing a new, updated architecture, in which light, space and noble materials are key elements, with avant-garde lines in which the most diverse shapes and materials - wood, marble, steel, stone and glass - are combined to give this new icon of contemporary architecture its shape. Light invades all corners, and the ocean turns into the horizon, from which any spot of the new Parador can be seen. Modern and warm rooms, with impressive terraces flying over the city and the Ocean. The swimming pool and Spa area is located on the second floor. Here, guests can enjoy the best panoramic views onto the bay of Cádiz

Beautiful views from our room, food lousy at best.

Reviewed By JorgeV1234

This hotel from the outside looks like it's under construction but don't be deceived once inside it is well maintained. Our room had a beautiful balcony with outstanding views of the ocean and the park next door. The shower was incredible with fantastic water pressure. The room was clean with modern touches like electric blinds. This was the positive, the negative was their food. We ate at their upscale restaurant my wife and I had the pan seared snapper which was tasteless. The bread was old hard and cold. Our friends had the papardelle and seafood paella the pasta was overcooked mushy the paella was so bad my friend couldn't even finish it. Complaints to the waiter were met with a shrug and a comment that "we are still learning". During the two days we had the breakfast buffet the Spanish omelet was dry overcooked with raw potatoes in it. The Tazita del Atlantico restaurant had good ham croquettes but that's the only positive we can report. After staying at the Gran Miramar in Malaga this was a let down in quality of food.
