Memorial Day 2022 was meant to get away from the crazy life we all have been enduring these past few years. Our stay was ok, room was clean and ok. We did not spend anytime in the hotel as we enjoyed the beach. Only on the last day after our boardwalk visit, after 2pm to be exact, we came back and inquired about the use of the restroom. We asked if the kids could use the pool even after we had checked out timely, the lady said yes and we were grateful as it was a beautiful day and we wanted to wait for traffic to die down a bit more. An hour into the kids playing in the pool the lady said to me that we needed to leave because we were no longer guests. We understood and politely starred gathering our items. Getting kids out of a pool takes time and the pool was only occupied by another family, whom they were playing with. My wife and I started chatting with other guests and the receptionist came out screaming at us, in front of our children and the other guests. She said that we had to leave immediately and to get out. We had been staying here for 4 days 3 nights. Barely used the facilities and I understand that is not their problem. The point is the lack of RESPECT, COURTESY, TACT!! Our kids were scared and asked why this lady was yelling at their mother. Completely unacceptable and this alone ruined the end of our family trip. We are very busy professionals who never would carve out time to write a review, but in this case, it needs to be brought up to management's attention. We love supporting small businesses and our State's economy by traveling. We do not find this behavior to be in line with even mediocre customer service. WE WILL NOT STAY OR RECOMMEND AGAIN.

Average Motel Stay in the Wildwoods

Reviewed By BAToland

We stayed at Olympic Island Beach Resort for a long weekend (Friday - Monday). Seeing that this hotel (really a motel) had 4.5 dots as a rating, I think I set my expectations much higher than they should have been. Below is a summary of pros and cons that will hopefully help someone considering booking this motel. To set the expectation of this review, I will usually stay at Hiltons and Marriotts when traveling. Pros: they offer a cash only discount which saved us some money, the room was clean (no obvious stains or bugs), the location is great - right on the beach, the pool area was nice and it is a big enough pool that you did not feel crowded, free parking, had a breakfast/lunch restaurant on premise (we did not eat in, but did get a few drinks from the takeout window), the TV had Direct TV service. Cons: the room was very outdated and small, there was a musty smell to the room, the lighting was not good (very dark), our room (217) was right next to the elevator so you heard the beeping at night/early morning, the bathroom was tiny, the pool was only open until 8 pm so no nighttime swimming, the advertised free WiFi was non-existent (the room was also a dead zone for Verizon data), the towels were old, thin, and tiny. Even with the cash discount, do I think I got what I paid for in terms of value? No. Was the room functional and a place to sleep at night? Yes. Should this place advertise themselves as a resort? Absolutely not - there were no activities or special touches that would make it a resort. Simply stated, this is an outdated motel that needs a lot of updating and should not cost nearly as much as it does. But that is just my opinion and prices are determined by demand. Would I stay here again? Probably not, but that is based on my typical standards for a hotel.

Dive motel

This is a dive motel. Our stay cost about $100 but it's not worth that. We only stayed here because it was early in the season and was the least expensive, supposedly decent place we could find for one night. It's a $40 motel at best. Our room had no heat and we had to call the desk attendant (who had gone home) to come back and try to fix it. He couldn't so we moved to another room. The heat there worked but one light didn't and it was a grungy room anyway. Dirty walls and thin, worn blankets. The internet worked and there was hot water. The best thing about the place was the bathroom, which was cool in a retro way. The decor had not been updated since the 1950s and we know that because it had the exact same tile, sink, and color scheme as a house we once owned and had to gut to modernize. This was the least expensive option in an expensive town, that's why we stayed here. We will not stay here again. One last thing: down the road a bit is the Vegas Diner, which we DO recommend.

Got to the check in desk at 3:15 (Expedia said 3:00 check in. We were told check in is at 4:00. I showed her the Expedia’s print out showing check in at 3:00 and I asked if we could check in now if the room was ready. We were told no! Check in was at 4:00 no matter what Expedia thinks. So we left and came back at 3:45 fearing a lot of people may get there at 4:00 and we would be at the back of the line. So we waited and waited. We were the only ones there and she was there behind the counter doing nothing except occasionally answering a phone. At 3:55, another man come in and went to the counter and asked if he could check and she said no. He asked when he can check in and she just said later! In the following minutes the lobby began to fill up behind us to the point it went out the door. At 4:00 she asked if she could help us (like she never saw us before in her life) I asked to be check in and she stopped and called someone and announced to whomever, “can you come up and help! We have a lobby full of people!!” . Like she could figure out that if she started to register folks as they came in, there wouldn’t be a ‘lobby full of people’! After we got to our rooms, which were very clean, we noted that this was a good place to knock off the rust, and if you wanted to, you could start with the rusty sink ( will try to add supporting pictures if I can figure that out) we unpacked and wanted to shower and dress for dinner reservations. I got in the shower after getting the water temp just right and after about 30 seconds. Someone in Trenton must have flushed a toilet as the water started coming out freezing cold. I readjusted the water then someone in Atlantic City must have turned on the washing machine and the water started coming out scolding! I kept readjusting the water temp and got out as soon as I could. Later I used the toilet only to find out you had to be double jointed to reach back and under the sink to reach the toilet paper roll. All else was good and may even have given three or four stars if it wasn’t for the person. At the front desk.

absolutely taken advantage of by this family

Reviewed By happyholidayn

We booked on trip advisor last minute. $429 for the room. It was absolutely the most overpriced stay I have every experienced. The hotel has shredded bath linens and toilet paper so thin that there is a strip of thicker paper to hold the actual paper together. The rooms are tiny. No one welcomed us to the room, it was the least welcoming and personal experience you could possibly imagine. I think these reviews are false and that they paid for them or something I'm contacting trip advisor about this. SHAME ON YOU to the family who runs this hotel. They are not friendly and fully taking advantage of people on holiday. KEEP YOUR PRICES STEADY and don't increase them based on demand when your hotel is a shanty.
