Snacks such as popcorn are put out in the lobby in the afternoon. I was astounded by the free breakfast, as good as it gets in this type of motel. Not just cereal and coffee. Hot oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, variety of teabags, bread, fresh fruit, pastries, juice. Several nearby eateries within walking distance & a convenience store across the street. The mini-fridge did not work but the clerk quickly put in a working one. Great attitude. Staff were all polite and accommodating. Masks are not currently required in SLO, but they should be.

Reviewed By GR-CA1On New Year's Day, after a long road-trip, we arrived at Hotel Buena Vista to a friendly front office receptionist. Our room was located upstairs and down a drafty path right next to the freeway where every car going by could be heard. It took several hours to heat the room to a comfortable 70 degrees while running it full-force at 90 for four hours. The bathroom toilet and sink had hair in it from a previous stay. The decor is so mixed and matched--painfullly old and dirty looking carpet. The furniture looked like a mish-mash of furniture I've seen sitting out in my alley-way. The pros: Nice new-looking recliner, Hallmark channel, microwave and refrigerator. After giving the room a chance, I called the front desk staff who offered to proved us with a different room. I was too tired to mess with moving luggage, our cooler etc...with only a hope that it might be better so we decided to stick witht the room. I would not recommend this place to anyone wanting a clean welcoming space.

Reviewed By solitarydudeIn fact, the entire property was clean - even the dog areas. Also, it is steps from HWY 101, so it is extremely convenient. Lastly, as signaled, there are several places around the property to walk dogs.

Clean but uncomfortable
Reviewed By sunsetstripstanThe room was clean, the bed was uncomfortable (cheap mattress) and EV charging was quoted at $10.00. The walls were thin and we got to listen to our neighbors yack through the night with music. The paint and surfaces needed a big touch up and the TV is small. For $90.00 a night this is a bargain? Your decision.

Reviewed By joanne CWe have stayed here before and the price is reasonable when it is not a holiday weekend. This time there were bed bugs and I got bit the first night. I told them the next morning and they moved us quickly. The 2nd room was good. It is noisy, so bring your earplugs. The floor was sticky in the first room. Don't expect much water pressure. They do not have milk for your coffee only powdered cream.

I booked this place and called the front desk for a few questions regarding checking in/out. I spoke with Jerry and he was so relaxed and friendly (in the genuine way..not the forced way). So far this seems like it's going to be a charming stay with a very accommodating staff. I am looking forward to visiting my college town and staying here :)
