Top 10 Lodges in Georgia, United States

April 18, 2023 Renato Branum

While Atlanta is the anchor and capital of Georgia, you can aim in any direction to find distinctly different regions – from the tail of the Appalachians in the North to the rolling Piedmont hills and on down to the seaside marshes in the East. Atlanta lays claim to the state’s number one attraction – Stone Mountain State Park. They say it best - “Serious fun. Endless adventure.” Just 15 minutes from downtown, the world’s largest exposed granite dome is surrounded by 3,200 acres of natural beauty and stimulating activities for every member of the family – sky rides and hiking paths, laser shows and pedal boats along Stone Mountain Lake. Golfers tee it up, while red foxes dash across the fairways in a state where the Masters Golf Tournament creates revered green-jacket memories every year. It’s a long downhill ride down to historic Savannah, a ‘stone’s throw’ from the Atlantic and a virtual step back in time to Southern architecture and stately squares. St. Simon’s and Jekyll Islands offer barrier island beauty and a wonderful combination of outdoor activities, historic sites and artistic culture. Originally the private winter playground of wealthy northeasterners, Jekyll Island stretches along 10 miles of coastal beaches and inland marshes. Cycling and walking paths wind under moss-laden oaks, and a tour of Millionaire Village takes you back to those Cornelius Vanderbilt and J.P. Morgan days. The kid-friendly Summer Waves Water Park adds man-made fun to natural water sport activities. Coastal golf courses and sophisticated St. Simon’s Island appeal to moms, dads and vacationing couples.

Amazing getaway

Reviewed By jrjohnc

This was a very unique place to stay. There are different places to sit and enjoy the views of the river and the waterfall! The room was super clean and had everything we needed for our stay. I really appreciate the extra heater switch in the bathroom!!! The bed was super comfy as well. The couple that runs it is very nice and sent us information about things to do around the area and restaurants in the area. We we’re going g to Helen to eat at a specific place one night and she sent me directions with a scenic route that was beautiful. Helen was only 44 minutes away. We enjoyed our stay and it was very quiet, peaceful and romantic just what we needed! We enjoyed slow dancing on the low deck!

Disappointing

Reviewed By atd2013

We rented a cabin, did not receive enough towels for the week. Spoke with a cleaning person who stated she would bring over and leave our exchange towels on the porch, she never brought us towels. Bed was comfortable. Pool: very disappointing, area was dirty, weeds were taller than the shrubs around the pool, pool was dirty, there was a vacuum in it but not on. Restaurant: excellent server, good food, bar service was awful. Customers were getting up from their table and purchasing their beverages from the bar faster than the bartender made the drinks for the servers. Very disappointing that they would treat each other like this. We had to wash, dry, and put away the kitchen items we used per sign in the cabin. After reading this, I purchased paper products to use during our stay. There is a restaurant with kitchen available - the items should be sanitized in between customers. Hot tub: the bar on the hot tub was broken, held on with a bungee cord.

Railfan Fun!

Great location and cute, clean facilities! My railfan young nephews were delighted by everything! I wish I would have known to bring our own cups and utensils. I assumed because there was a microwave and keurig that those would be available. We saw maybe 10-12 trains during our one-night stay. Definitely we’ll return for more relaxing fun!

QUITE AND RELAXING.....FRIENDLY STAFF

Reviewed By Bert R

WE JUST GOT BACK FROM FLAT CREEK LODGE TODAY 6/4/2017 IF YOU WANT A QUITE AND RELAXING PLACE TO STAY ..THIS IS IT.This ad is a little misleading. the dairy is closed.the peacock and ginny pens are closed..carts are not workingThe only recreation was fishing in the several ponds... they have bikes for riding around the property. The staff is very friendly....rooms are clean and the food from the restaurant was excellent.the rib eye and hamburger steaks were cooked to perfection. The rooms each has a theme and are very rustic...no tv...poor cell phone reception in the rooms. They do have wifi and you can make calls if you are using it.They will provide you breakfast each morning and also provide free ice and fish bait.we would go back again just to get away from it all. We enjoyed feeding the ducks and swans. We also enjoyed the sound of the one working water fountain in the evenings when it was on.All in all we enjoyed our stay/The owners need to improve the curb appeal and get some much needed maintenance done on the fountains and lodge exterior. ONCE YOU TURN OFF THE MAIN ROAD YOU WILL TRAVEL DOWN A DIRT ROAD APPROX 5 MILES THAT IS IN NEED OF SCRAPING....TAKE YOUR TRUCK IF YOU HAVE ONE INSTEAD OF A CAR. The picture of the lodge is several years old.A little maintanence and repair and I would give them 5 stars.

You cancel my reserved cabin!!

I reserved a cabin with My Mountain Cabin Rentals in GA. in July for a 5 days with the family in Christmas. My son is exiting the military in 3 weeks after been deployed to Qatar to help with the military exiting from Afghanistan. All was planned for the trip and I receive a phone call from Tracy in My Mountain Cabin Rentals that the reservation was cancelled because the owner of the cabin wanted to use the place in Christmas. This was a low blow and a I don't care about your reservation with a deposit. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU RESERVE WITH THIS PEOPLE. Did not even offer a discount on another one of their cabins. Not a very professional site to rent your cabin from. They don't care if your plans are ruined. Now is very hard to find another cabin with a mountain view in the place that we wanted to rent. KARMA is my best friend. I hope they really have a great time in the mountains. Merry Christmas!!!

South Georgia Hospitality and Big Bass Fishing

Reviewed By Companion18773227009

South Georgia retreat in Adel, Georgia. This small retreat offers some of Georgia’s finest bass fishing in their varied, privately owned and managed lakes on the property. Bass fishing is offered with accompanying guides only, and this is a welcome requirement. These experienced local guides (who use their own boats) know where to put guests on large fish and help with all aspects of fishing. Generally, guests are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment and tackle, which most bass fishers would prefer to do anyway. All skill levels are welcome. We caught and released over 40 bass during a day and a half of fishing, ranging in size from 2 lbs to 6 1/2 lbs. A lodge and a separate cabin are offered. We stayed in the 4 bedroom cabin which was appointed much like a small South Georgia home one might visit. Four bedrooms of king sized beds and separate bath and showers. We were very comfortable. Each hearty meal is provided in the dining room of the small lodge and is comprised of perennial southern favorites. There isn’t a menu of options, but we loved everything they cooked here. The large property of Live Oak Plantation is beautifully maintained and is a perfect setting for morning and evening strolls. Be sure to admire the cattle on the property while out walking…some of the finest beef cattle in the nation. This experience was excellent and Live Oak Plantation will become a frequent location for us to visit again and again.
