We are staying at the Libava Hotel and its restaurant, Zivju, was an incredible surprise. There were 3 of us and we all ate different things - the herring appetizer with chopped quail eggs and beetroot was absolutely amazing. Pork steak with roasted potatoes, carrots, onions, and a special orange, slightly curried sauce was superb. My vegetarian meal of risotto with locust chips (never heard of them before but they were excellent) was again terrific. The meringue dessert was delicious. The combination of very original combination of meat, herbs, unusual vegetables, etc. takes this restaurant ouf of the norm and into the top, top tier of food. AND it was quite reasonable. We recommend it very highly. Also, our delightful, friendly waitress made it a highly personable experience.

Had dinner there during our visit to Liepaja. The food was fantastic, especially the pork shank with oven browned boiled potatoes and sauerkraut. Haven't had this dish and this good since we could visit our Latvian grandparents. And to top it off, the meal along with some excellent Latvian beer was about 12 euros!!

Wonderful cafeteria to enjoy world of different pastries, cakes and buns There is quite nice choice of main course, too.Great location in the very center of LiepÄja. Drinking (excellent quality by the way) coffee you can enjoy traffic Bd people passing nearby next to the large windows of cafeteria.Not very cheap, but worth any cent spent. Recommend!

Came here by accident, you can have quick and cheap lunch, but have no idea how you can order if you donât know latvian- the menu on the wall is latvian only. The lady behind the counter is not very talkative, nor too happy about your visit, but the food is cheap and quite tasty. If you want some time travel - take dessert - those metal cups are definately from soviet times :))

I had both lunch and dinner at Oskars since I stayed at the hotel (Amrita).Food was execellent and the service was also very good from the young but ambitious staff.I had a beetroot carpaccio with chèvre cheese as a starter and their classic planket steak, perfectly served medium rare as ordered. It is hard to find this restaurant unless you stay at the hotel (which is also good since recently renovated) so I can really recommend this restaurant.They offered a 4 serving degustation menu (tasting menu) for only â¬19. I did not try it this time but will do next time since it is worth returning to Restaurant Oskars. I can strongly recommend this place!!!

I love this place. There is the most friendly hostess, the best sweets and very good coffee. We even tested this place once coming with 10 kids (0-10 yrs) The test was passed in highest level :)

We enjoyed our set menu at Eur15 pp. Starters were delicious â wife had pumpkin soup with black truffle oil and I had a cheese, beetroot salad. Mains, the lady had fish croquettes and I the beef cheek with mash. Dessert consisted of hazelnut and almond tart and I had panna cotta. The starters were both beautiful, mains were good though could be worked on a little â my wife found the fish to not taste, well, fishy and had a strange consistency, and my beef cheek could have done with a couple tablespoons of gravy as it was a little dry though the cheek itself was beautifully succulent. My panna cotta tasted more of cream so that needs a little work â I appreciate theyâre not the easiest to make due to setting time but if thatâs an issue then perhaps look to offer something else such as cheesecake, a slice of black forest gateau etc.As others have mentioned, service was a little slow though the waitress was professional, friendly and spoke good English. We could see the two waitresses were run off the feet and didnât stop. However, one thing that niggled us slightly was that despite not having a reservation, we were only offered one table which wasnât exactly to our liking since it was right next to the bar. We arrived just before 6pm on a Saturday but during the two hours we were there, the restaurant was never more than 60% occupied, and the tables by the window we would have liked to sit at had two tables empty whilst we were dining there. Guess itâs a moot point for some but niggled us a little.Overall though, the points Iâve raised are minor and we enjoyed our meal and drinks. Would defo recommend and weâd be back in a flash.

Had one of the best dinners in Liepaja here last week. The potato-carrot mash , and chicken breast, and rotbeet was superb! If you happen to be walking in this part of the town , be sure to stop for some dish! It will be worth it!

There was nothing special about the food we ate which included pasta, pork chops and ribs. The most enjoyable part were the fried potatoes with rosemary. Although I was given the wrong order this was rectified with a free drink and a further 20 minute wait. Eating in the outside terrace was nice.

The visit was nice, restaurant is in the centre of Liepaja. The food choice is big, mainly it has potato dishes, but you can find meat, fish and even woks. The portions are quite big, one jacket potato was enough for one person's dinner. The beef burgers were huge and tasty but had a very soggy lower bun because of the sauces and juices in it. All in a, I would recommend this place because for it's uniqueness
