Was Ok. a bit far from anything in town centre

The room was budget but had the basics, free wi-fi, I didn't take the breakfast options so won't be able to comment on that, as most motels/ hotels in Japan, You will need to pay for cable T.V. Thumbs up for their staff being able to understand and -to some extent- communicate in English.

Tsu Station

This Hotel is perfect if you travel and stop at Tsu station. It is located right in front. It is correct for the price. The room for my taste too small. The breakfast is fine and has many amenities to catch at reception.

Garden Villa Shirahama

Favourite hotel in Japan!

Reviewed By lucyroseroberts

Loved it here! Was a great hotel with cute little quirks that show that the hosts love the local area. Was sad to leave and go back to Tokyo. I have allergies and told them in advance. The food was incredible. I find it very rare for allergies to be catered for in Japan so it was a wonderful surprise the effort they put in to the food. The meals were incredible and so much food! The host speaks very good English which is a handy plus if you are a tourist.

Takayama Wan Wan Paradise

Hotel

Remote location but a unique stay

Reviewed By Tripdogg

Due to the Autumn Festival in Takayama I had trouble booking an affordable hotel. This is 40mins by bus out of town. But a stay among dog lovers is unique, the room was excellent and although the restaurant only served set menu for dinner quite pricey I did not regret my stay here.

Yutorelo Atami

Very nice food. No shower facilities at our room.

Reviewed By Lunasolhk

We stayed one night at Atami before we head back to Tokyo. It’s quite an uphill drive up to hotel from Atami JR station. Free parking available and strongly recommend you have a car to reach this hotel because of the uphill winding drive. Room: Our room is on the 4/F which have quite a nice view. To our surprise, there is no shower in our room. Only a sink and a toilet. So this mean if you want to take a shower, you can only go to the hotspring. I think we overlooked it when we made our reservation as they did list it on the website, that only a limited number of room will have shower facilities. Food: Both the dinner and breakfast are super yummy. It’s Japanese style but with a twist of morden/western touch. We really like it. Food are fresh and tasty. Dinner + breakfast are served at specific time slot to make sure not everyone come at the same time. Hotspring: It’s has an outdoor and indoor hot spring, a Jacuzzi plus a sauna. Relatively small but nice. Staff: Friendly and speak okay English .They try very hard explain to us each dishes at dinner and breakfast. Others: The foot hot spring is nice and you can relax while enjoying the ocean view. You can also chose your own colour/patten of yukata plus size which is nice. There is only one elevator and you might need to wait a bit when it’s breakfast time or check out time.

If you've stayed at a Japanese hotel before then you don't need to read on. If you haven't then it's an experience.

Tip 1: All rooms are "smoking rooms" so if you're a non smoker then take an air freshener with you. Tip 2: There is only one single solitary power socket in the room, so along with your international power adapter, bring a 4-gang power bar with you to charge all of life's iNecessities. Tip 3: Turn the fridge off at night, it seems to go into gurgling spasms just after you've wrestled yourself to sleep with a rice pillow (See Tip 6). The fridge is also empty. Tip 4: There are vending machines on floor 2 if you're Japanese or American. The British correctly call this the first floor. Anyway if you go to floor 5 they have the same items for sale but cheaper!?!? There's also a microwave there, if you're bored of pot noodles. Tip 5: Bring a laundry bag. The rooms are so small there's nowhere to put anything, the wardrobe is deep enough to house 4 shirts. Seriously. Tip 6: If you like rice pillows then you're fine. If you don't, then bring your own. Tip 7: You don't need the desk chair in your room, you can comfortably use your laptop on the desk while simultaneously sat on the bed, the room is that narrow. Tip 8: There is no free wifi on the floors. There is however wired LAN access. It's slow, yes but it's free and does work. There is however free wifi in reception which is good enough for a VoIP call ie Skype or FaceTime Audio. In your room you can pay ¥500 for the SoftBank ISP WiFi.....or bridge your wired LAN connection on your laptop to act as a wifi hotspot so you can use your iPad and iPhone. Or download "Connectify". Tip 9: Don't bother with breakfast. Tip 10: Beware the hot water. It comes out hot enough to make tea. Tip 11: Give the coin operated room pay per view porn a go, the money in the coin bin goes to the maid. Honestly. Tip 12: Don't be shy, try the toilet and it's dazzling array of "spot-on" functions. Tip 13: If you want a quieter stay, ask for a room at the front of the hotel, as at the rear is the mainline train track. Although to be honest the trains aren't loud. Embrace the hotel and enjoy Japan in general. I've stayed in several Japanese hotels, yes they are quirky but the staff are lovely. Crazy, but lovely. This place is no different. The tips above are meant to be humorous but it's fine to stay here for a few days. I stayed a week, and the staff were great. Breakfast could be better but I'm not a breakfast person, and the Japanese prefer different fare to us Westerners. The orange juice is decent enough though. Then grab an ice cold coffee from the vending machine on your way out the door. There is also plenty of free car parking if you've hired a car.
