Restaurant La Cordee

Restaurant La Cordée is all about good food. We fire up our stoves every evening and open the doors at 7pm. Using a wood burning Josper Oven to cook our meat, fish and vegetables, we work to provide authentic dishes that reflect our love of good taste. Ou

The food was exquisite- well prepared, innovative, well presented. I'd go back for an anniversary dinner or birthday dinner anytime. Unfortunately we just wanted dinner (not fine dining) but verbier had just opened for the summer season and not too many places were open yet. But more unfortunately the restaurant had not received its wine shipment and the CHEAPEST wine on the menu was 65 Swiss francs. (We live in Italy so that's Super Tuscan pricing.) We had a nice bottle in our hotel but the restaurant corkage fee was (gasp) 70 francs. The owner was accommodating and offered to reduce the fee to 50 francs but "no vale la pena ". If you're up for fine dining that goes beyond fondue and Italian places- highly recommended.

Bagnes Commune is VERY big: not only Verbier is its final destination. There are many possible stops in charming places. Carrefour Bruson is typically an original place. Nice owner, very humorous, creative in the interior design and in the dishes he proposes (carrot fries!) a well mastered menu including the 'incontournable' burgers. His Lunch plate is also always very tasty, plate well served, good choice of wines. Guests are in Wallis, also in international atmosphere of a London migrant in Swiss Alps. Dad welcomes you, Junior cooks, does Mom decorate this interior design jewel? Many visits and lunches all were enjoyable, this constancy also deserves applause: Thank You Carrefour Bruson!

This restaurant opened last year (2010). It has a very intersting menu - mostly as the name indicates fish and meat. The cuisine is very creative and the chef uses very fresh ingredients. If he doesn't have something fresh he doesn't serve it! Prices are reasonable and the staff are delightful! Tables are well spaced and there is a nice little garden for outside dining in the summer. the location right next to the UBS on the Place Centrale is perfect.Their fricassé of gambas is great - shrimp are already peeled and the sauce is very tasty. The "Boulliabase du Chef" is lovely - again, very fresh fish and you can taste each different fish instead of having them swamped by the taste of the sauce. There is a plat du jour each day at lunchtime.Average cost of a meal for us, including 3 courses and 50cl of open wine was around 130frs for two. However it wasn't really necessary to have the dessert!! But my husband said the Tarte Tatin was the best he ever ate!

We attended for the second time the Verbier Gestival and dined here twice. Make sure you make advance reservations as this restaurant is very popular and most people want to dine outside when the weather is fine. Inside it feels just a bit claustrofobic, it is warm and there are many flies. The staff is very friendly and attentive although they are very busy. The quality of the food is very good and the portions are generous. We had very vood salads that came with the maincourse. Good Wiener schnitzels, veal curry, entrecote, gazpacho andaluz and nice desserts. Extensive and wine list with very expensive wines if you chose one out of Switzerland. We will come back.

We visited Chez Dany for Sunday lunch as a group of 6 friends. Booking is essential during ski season. The experience is second to none. Beautiful location and views across the valley amongst snow capped for trees. Friendly and efficient service and the menu is exceptional. Particularly enjoyed the baked Brie followed by the steak. Only negative was that we couldn’t manage to ski anymore after a fantastic jeroboam of Rose! A must-visit when in the 4 Valleys!

We visited Le Couloir after our first day of skiing in Verbier. The staff very incredibly welcoming and super friendly. We enjoyed a delicious local Pinot Noir whilst perusing the menu. We shared a tapas plate to start, followed by a couloir burger and shredded pork curry. The portions are huge but very very tasty! Strongly recommend this place if you are looking for comfort, warming plates. Enjoy.

The place looks very popular and it is certainly well deserved. Simple luminous decor, friendly service and a menu with semi sophisticated dishes, made of good product (many of them variations around Herens beef), that would be successful in any big city... this is a simple recipe but a good one. We had an excellent dinner there and would certainly come back at a next opportunity. All this doesn't come cheap but remains acceptable.
