Great Central Base for Atherton Tablelands

We stayed at the Curtain Fig Motel for three nights on our road trip to Far North QLD. It is in a great location to access all the attractions that the Tablelands has to offer. The motel is only a couple of mins walk from eating venues in Yungaburra. The hosts Jane and Mark are very accommodating and friendly, Jane likes to cook so breakfast is on offer for $10 per person and will also offer to cook you a roast meal as well if you like. Fresh scones with jam was also offered to us upon arrival. We had the spa room which has a nice area out the front to sit at and is seperate from all the other rooms. The motel is pet friendly, the hosts have a Brussels Griffon that will come and say hi. It has a pool, WiFi worked well, bed was comfy, they are licenced so you can buy beer & wine from them. No netflix just free to air, but you can choose a DVD to watch from their very large collection. Open air car parking is provided at the back of the motel, if you have a long vehicle you will have to do a bit of maneuvering to park your car as it's a little tight especially if there are a few cars already parked, but there is also plenty of off street parking right out the front as well. The motel itself is not new, so is a bit dated. For our purpose of just needing a well priced place to sleep while we were out sightseeing the Tablelands all day the Curtain Fig Motel suited as well.

Could not speak higher of Sonia who went above and beyond to make my stay feel safe and homely. On the Wallaby feels more like a home than a hostel. One of the coolest hostels on the east coast. It’s also super forward thinking in terms of sustainability which is rare to find in accommodation. 10/10

Disappointing

Reviewed By Tracie A

From the luke warm welcome.from both staff we saw To the dirty shower screen , and make up stain on a towel. Missing washing machine that was advertised. Chipped worn cooking pots , very disappointing and Ordinary for an expensive advertised luxury resort. Yes the fire , view and breakfast food (except the stale scones ) and lovely bed were enjoyable - but you’d expect that for $500 a night. God smacked to be honest. The whole place needs a freshen up and the staff need to up their game. We won’t be back - ever. Btw we are long term locals.

This was our second stay at Gumtree on Gillies (we were there 3 years ago). This time we stayed in the Moroccan room and we really liked it. Lots of natural light plus the screened window above the bed opens to allow wonderful fresh air. Our host, Penny, was great as was the in-room breakfast (loved the fresh-squeezed juice!). Comfortable King size bed, super quiet room, great host.

Yungaburra Park Motel

Larger than normal, well equipped self contained rooms, some with full cooking facilities. Surrounded by great cafes and restaurants as well as numerous sites such as the famous Curtain Fig tree, Lake Eacham and Lake Barrine. Atherton is just ten minutes away.

Nice and clean. Really good service. Lovely owners.

Really nice and clean. Well looked after. Lovely gardens and amenities. It’s a motel and it’s a nice one. Close to pins and restaurants. Took our dog and she was left a gift pack of a blanket and biscuit which was a lovely touch. Only downside is that it’s a tad expensive for a motel. $25 extra for the dog.
