In addition to an excellent variety of breakfast selections, the staff employee, Liz, was delightful. She was friendly as well as helpful. She was hands on, and even offered to help make a special waffle for me. It was a pleasant experience to encounter someone that enjoyed their job as well as showing an interest in the guests.

Needs some management attention

The resort has lost a step. TripAdvisor states there is laundry service however that’s not accurate. There is a bag in the closet indicating they have laundry service but you actually have to get coins and go to a neighboring building and use a coin laundry. The food is three star. Average. If you want a great meal go to the whitefish restaurant at the country club. No comparison. Housekeeping is upon request. Called to get extra plastic bags for the ice bucket (after I used one). Blank stare, did not comprehend. Never came. The housekeeping is marginal. Not really a cleaning. If you’re not going to clean the toilets then … please, leave a toilet brush for the customers to use. The car valets are great. The young lady at the coffee shop is also extremely courteous and friendly. Beautiful venue, but someone in management needs to kick it into gear. Overpriced. Maybe a B-.

Clean, neat and friendly

We were super happy with this hotel. The employees were all friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was exceptionally good, with lots of options and the breakfast area was huge. The room was exceptionally large. There was a nice table and two chairs plus a nice large chair in addition to the huge king-size bed. We also loved that unlike a lot of hotels the sink was inside the enclosed bathroom and not open to the bedroom. We will absolutly stay here again!

Jamie Saved My Girlfriend's Birthday!!!

Reviewed By Daytonod

A little backstory: My girlfriend went out to visit some family out in Montana and ended up having a horrible birthday and, in short, needed to fly home back to Denver for an emergency. We needed to get her a hotel for the night and a shuttle to her flight in the morning. I was in Denver at the time and trying to book all my gf's arrangements over the phone. Through all of it, Jamie at the front desk was AMAZINGLY HELPFUL!! Not only did he upgrade my girlfriend's room to a suite, but he actually went shopping and got her some chocolates, flowers, and fruit (she loves fruit) for her birthday. AND... I kid you not... He even spread roses over the bed...... I mean, come on. It was awesome and salvaged my girlfriend's birthday that was basically ruined by this family emergency. Seriously, this was one of the most amazing customer experiences we could have asked for. He went so above and beyond and I can't thank him and this hotel enough!

Grouse Mountain Lodge

Nice bones, but missing details

Reviewed By sandh035

My wife and i stayed at the Grouse Mountain Lodge for one night after camping at Glacier National Park for a week. First impressions were great, with beautiful common areas and nice amenities. However, you start to look at the fine details and things aren't quite exactly as nice as you'd believe while checking in. Our room we reserved was no longer available, so we were placed in a similar room with two queen beds rather than a King. Not a big deal, but oh well. Fast forward to checking in to the room and you have another good first impression with a very nice space, but you look closely and you start to see some holes in the wall (something was previously mounted and not filled back in), broken window shutters that had a temporary fix, and a cracked wall damage near the couch. None of which are deal-breakers, but it does temper your experience a bit. We also found a centipede near the couch, but decided against bringing it up as we had just been camping for a week, and although we didn't see any of them out there, it wasn't worth making a fuss over. Moved the car closer to the room and noticed a broken window on the way back in, started feeling a little disappointed in the place. No matter, we'll just shower and go out to get something to eat. Oh wait, a new $250 charge to my card popped up on my phone after I had already paid online? Better check with the front office. Turns out it's just a hold in case we wanted to spend some money at the bar or restaraunt. Well, they got us, guess we'll check them out. My wife and I got an appetizer that started off strong, but her entree was a bit bland. Mine was as well, but to a much lesser extent. Drinks were good though, but hey, that's an extra $100 we weren't planning on spending here. To be fair, we could have just ignored that and traveled back in town. Overall, I've spent less on better food elsewhere, but it was far from bad, and I've also spent more on far worse food. Anyway, a wedding was going on, so the noise level was high until about 10pm. A reasonable time for it to start to quiet down, and honestly while we could hear it, it wasn't too bad. However after there was a substantial amount of noise coming from above, and I was left to wonder if our original room maybe would have been placed elsewhere, keeping the wedding party together. I also certainly wouldn't want to put a damper on someone's special night. Anyway, there were a few fees charged after heading out as well. Disappointing.

2nd stay at this cozy mountain lodge

Reviewed By Karen55115

This was our 2nd stay at Kandahar Lodge. It’s cozy, welcoming atmosphere; friendly staff who want to be sure guests are happy; ski-in and out (shuttle also available to the main lift) brought us back. Eleven years later this stay met our expectations. Love the casual vibe and gathering space with wood burning fireplace at the end of a ski day. Continental breakfast is European style so good protein (and fruit and oatmeal) as well) to fuel the day. And if can’t spring for an exquisite meal at Cafe Kandahar (you must if you are able), the Snug Bar serves dishes prepared by the Cafe. Beds are firm and comfortable. Rooms very quiet and clean. Free snow bus takes you to town and back if you aren’t renting a car.

Comfort of Home on Vacation

Reviewed By Queences

Stayed here for our first visit to Glacier NPS. It was okay. As Ambassador elite, my expectations were a tad higher. On check-in, had to request a bunch of stuff for kitchen use; bathtub smelled like urine, "clean" plates and firks in dishwasher had crusts stuck, and trash can in living area had a used condom ? That being said, Rhona and her husband did bring up requested items and Rhona was very helpful. Jason was also very pleasant and accomodating if requests. We pretty much cooked for the most part of our stay and loved having a kitchen. Ended up buying some kitchen utensils and pizza pan and left it for next occupant. Has room to improve especially for prices they publish.

Absolutely wonderful family owned motel

Reviewed By Jdepu1

We are on a cross country road trip and we’re looking for a low priced place to stop for the night in Whitefish. Everything was crazy overpriced and we found this motel as we were driving around. It was absolutely wonderful. The woman at the front desk was the owner, Eva, and she was extremely helpful!! She gave us recommendations for dinner and where bands play for nightlife. She gave us a room specifically to know we could see the mountains across the way, and she was so accommodating. There was a cute bird in the reception area and a sweet older dog that followed her outside when she was doing laundry later that night. The room was wonderful, beds so comfortable, bright, clean, and exactly what we were looking for. The rooms are newly renovated and she even said they were finishing the last few before the tourist season picked up- the flooring was clearly new and it had cute wallpaper and freshly painted trim in our room. There’s also little chairs and a table outside each room to enjoy sitting outside. Would absolutely stay here again and again!
