Terribly disappointed!

Reviewed By Seayeaitch

For the want of a mail ! Excellent hotel, superb location, wonderful facilities but only one person on reception ! The logic beggars belief. A simple plug for the bathroom sink was missing, no one available to look for it! They did offer to provide me with another room , but after traveling all day arriving unpacking and settling in the last thing you want to do is to repack and relocate rooms. Apologies are fine, but the point is often overlooked, we choose to stay in good hotels that have a certain reputation, one assumes that behind the scenes management is good that cleanliness is paramount in fact with the Scandic Park, reputation one expects facilities to work. It’s disappointing to learn that when a problem is highlighted then there are no staff to manage.

High quality throughout

A perfect place for a few days of relaxing and self-pampering. The spa area is very big and didn't feel overcrowded even on a day with full occupany (public holiday). The location by the fjord means you can go right into the sea for a cooling swim after your "sauna experience". Great staff!

Worst stay I have ever had at a hotell. Room next to a concert

Reviewed By espenmartinsen

Worst stay at a hotel i ever had, my room was literally next to a concert in a room without isolation. It was so loud in the room that it was, impossible to sleep/rest or even just be in the room. The hotel should atleast have the decency to give a heads up.

Beautiful historic hotel in the center of Sandefjord

Reviewed By avman67

This hotel is housed in a building built in 1690. So there is a lot of history behind it. The outside of the hotel needs a bit of upkeep, but the inside is fully renovated and looks beautiful. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Furnishings are in the general theme of a royal hotel. So chairs and couches are posh and bedspreads have deep purple or red colorings. You do feel like royalty when staying there. The lobby is not large, but staff are welcoming and kind. If you need anything just ask. They know a great deal about the area and can work out almost any problem quickly. Prices are generally high in Norway so this hotel is about average for the surrounding area. The bathroom is nice and comfortable. Plenty of space to shower and clean up in the morning. There is not much ventilation in the room so during warmer weather I expect rooms to be rather hot. Even during the warm spring day I was there the room was a bit stuffy by the end of the day. There is a window that can be opened if you like - however I had a cat with me so doing so was not an option. The opening created would have allowed the cat out. So much of the stuffiness in my room was my own fault. We stayed over the Norway 17 May celebration. So our breakfast was very special for the day. It was absolutely wonderful with many delicious choices. But others should not expect this same level of breakfast when they come since this was the national holiday breakfast. If you do happen to come for this event, enjoy the champagne served with breakfast and all the traditional Norwegian items you can sample. There are also parades that start right outside the hotel - so don't plan on sleeping late. The cannon will wake you up for sure. I would love to return to this area again and I would choose this hotel right away.

Stayed for three nights attending a wedding. Room good with very comfortable bed. Could use a bedside table on both sides of the bed though. View from the window not so good - straight into a building site at window level and quite close. The breakfast offering was incredible with a very large selection on offer. Did eat one night in the restaurant which excellent. Prices reasonable and staff friendly.

Lovely, unique home from home

Reviewed By rphobson

Delightful, unique and characterful hotel, about as different from a chain hotel as one can imagine. Ronne was a very welcoming host, and always happy to help answer my touristy questions. The room was large, clean and warm (November in Norway!) and beautifully decorated with a mixture of old (antique furniture and paintings) and new (kettle, hob, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and the entire bathroom). The kitchen facilities within the room were perfect for our catering requirements (mainly making tea, coffee, porridge, toast etc). The hotel is situated right by the harbour in a very old and lovely part of Larvik, with the whole city within easy walking distance. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and very much hope to be able to stay there again sometime.
