Reviewed By Natasha LThe Abbaye is one of the most beautiful and hospitable hotels we have ever stayed. Not only is the location central to all things Montauban, it is also a historic monument of the city itself. Breakfast is incredible, a full French feast for those who are vegan and gluten-free like me or for those who are meat-eaters like the rest of my party. Crepes, poached eggs, lox, fresh fruit, baguettes and croissants — and that's just some of the food! We cannot thank our host, Sanda, enough. She was attentive, kind, and very friendly. She is a delight to speak with. I hope you get to meet her! All of the staff was simply delightful. Those working the concierge / front desk were incredibly helpful, polite and accommodating. We felt extremely well-cared for. Rooms were not only comfortable, they were also very clean with gorgeous views. There is free parking, coffee, water, juice, and wifi. There is also a small business area to print and fax. The artwork is quite eye-catching and the chapel is ornate and quite moving. Montauban is a gorgeous city filled with amazing people, history and yummy restaurants. Whether you stay at the Abbaye or venture out, you will not be disappointed. I never leave reviews yet had to make an exception for the Abbaye des Capucins. If I could give this hotel 10 stars I would. We cannot wait to return. Thank you for making us all feel so at home. Beyond excellent service with a view and delicious food. We will be back!! Merci beaucoup!!

Expecting a great stay
Reviewed By southernbelle007We had communicated with the hotel before our stay, and had asked for dinner reservations at the hotel, and lunch reservations at Le Fromage qui Rit. When we arrived we were shown to our room which had a beautiful river view. It was spacious, with a tub, shower combo. All was going alone fairly smoothly until we dressed for dinner that evening on the terrace of the hotel. I had checked with the receptionist at checkin and she informed us that our dinner reservations had not be made by the staff, but they could fit us in. We sat on bar stools outside and waited and waited for someone to place our drink order. Finally, we were served and waited and waited agin for a free table. The staff was scurrying back and forth trying to keep up and looked totally "in the weeds". We were not impatient or demanding in the least, but would have appreciated a drink refill or an update. After about an hour, still no drinks, We decided to cut our losses. It was almost 9:00 pm and most other dinner options were closed. I mentioned to the bar staff that I felt that they should give us the first drink free, since we had waited so long and been completely ignored. They had not offered, but did not charge us for the drinks. Here's where the fun begins. The only place we could find to eat was the Rendezvous a local outdoor gathering place with a take-out pizza parlor next door. I had on a dressy dress and heels, but felt okay since we were at least getting some dinner. The waiter and owner of the Rendezvous were so very courteous and pleasant. Since their menu was very limited, just snacks, we were allowed to order pizza next door and eat on their outdoor tables. It was a truly fun experience! I really think the Moulin needs a lot more organization and attention to detail. This was not the worst of it: on the morning of our departure we awoke to no water at all and no estimate as to when it would be restored. We never found out exactly what happened, but we left post haste without showering. I'm sad that a stay which could have been so memorable turned out so poorly. The town of Moissac is really picturesque and friendly. Post script there was a safe, but it didn't work!

Ok but a couple of problems
Reviewed By Lindylou201The restaurant was shut! In August! Apparently for staff holidays? Lots of fast food restaurants and shops only 1km away though. The air conditioning came on at 3am so noisy it woke us both up and we had to switch it off. Otherwise a good position and very clean.

Reviewed By Robert DWe stayed for the first time in Montauban. The hotel was just off the motorway and well located near to the town centre. The restaurant at the adjoining Ibis did excellent really good value for money food. We would definitely stay here again

I have travelled the length and breadth of France, the majority of times in 'budget-chain' environments: this was one of the best I have ever stayed in. Excellent, courteous, communicative-the presentation was outstanding. The staff, unlike the normal French attitude to service which consists of a series of shrugs and grunts, had obviously been well-trained; even the dinner each night was more than adequate and served with attention. It was a pleasure to stay here.

Reviewed By 181pamelamTravelling during Covid 19 was a challenge but this hotel was perfect...perfect location, perfect cleanliness and perfect for our needs. We had automatic check in, our room was suitable for our needs and the bed was comfortable. Located just off the A20 it was easy to find and surrounded by retail outlets with fast food if required. The secure car park left us with no worries for our overnight accommodation.

Lovely place to stay
Reviewed By GirlsgotaeatMy partner an I stayed for 1 night and it was absolutely delightful. The house is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Axelle, the hostess was lovely, welcoming and took good care of us. Once we had booked the communication was very good. As it is rooms in a house where the owners live, I was concerned that I might feel like we were imposing - but this was not the case at all - the house is so grand and spacious - and quiet. The rooms are stylish, clean and well appointed and we thought it was excellent value for money and only a short drive to Montauban. You can prebook an evening meal (which we didn't) and there was a lovely fresh continental breakfast spread laid on for us in the morning. Superb - will definitely return if we are in the area.

Good location from motorway
Reviewed By Kath SGood location from motorway, facilities excellent , comfy bed, fantastic shower , restaurant in site , reception friendly and check in very fast and efficient , only down fall is the corridors have no carpet so it's echoes very badly and you can hear the slightest of noise, woken several times in the night due to this ... Town is beautiful plenty to see and do and plenty of shops for food drink etc
