Reviewed By splurgeindianaThis is lovely bed and breakfast, conveniently located to the beach as well as shops and restaurants. David greeted us and was very attentive during our short stay. We never met the owners of the place, but that didn’t detract from our experience. Our room was very nice and stocked with everything we needed. Very, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was simple, but fresh. We will definitely return and hopefully stay longer! Thank you for a great time!!

Hotel Nichols is located in the heart of downtown South Haven, but after you walk into our doors you may not feel the need to go anywhere since you will have everything you need; complimentary made-to-order breakfast daily between memorial day and labor day and a staff that is ready to cater to you. Also included in the room rate is a happy hour consisting of wine, beer, hors d'oeuvres and other tasty options. Happy hours are Friday and Saturday from 5pm-7pm. We recently finished renovations to our Green Room, now known as Haven Room. As well as our Blue Room, A.K.A Webster Room. We Would Stay Here Again!
Reviewed By Kimberly KWe were in town for one night to hang out with some friends and we all stayed at Historic Hotel Nichols. We enjoyed some wine during happy hour Friday night and then walked to a local restaurant for dinner. The sunset over Lake Michigan from the bluff at South Beach was spectacular! We drove around the area site seeing and then returned to Historic Hotel Nichols and enjoyed visiting in the lobby which overlooks a downtown street. We stayed in Room #9, The Haven Room. It was nicely decorated and the king size bed was comfortable. In the morning, we enjoyed donuts and fresh coffee in the lobby before walking to a restaurant for breakfast. Maegan and her staff are very friendly and it was a pleasure to engage them in conversation. She and her staff are also very knowledgeable of the history of Hotel Nichols which was very interesting to hear. My husband and I commented that we would certainly stay at Historic Hotel Nichols again. Oh, and the cookies in our room at check in were yummy! :)

Situated on a harbor just 1/4 mile to Lake Michigan, The Inn at Harbor Shores features a marina, waterfront restaurant called Plank's Tavern, dockside bar, full service spa, Rise & Vine- a coffee shop & wine bar, area shuttle, meeting & special event space, a line up of entertainment and events, 12 miles of walking trails, water sports rentals with launch, bicycle rental, beaches and shops within a 5 minute drive, and championship Jack Nicklaus golf course (hosting The KitchenAid Sr PGA Championship on even years 2012 through 2024). All guestrooms at The Inn feature a sliding glass door leading to a private balcony, undercounter refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, all Michigan art, and more. Reviewed By 22juleebThe hotel itself is pretty nice and clean. My kids liked the pool and the indoor/outdoor hottub. The fitness center was small but nicer than most hotel fitness center. The restaurant was OK and with very limited hours (but we were there in late March). We booked a family suite because we needed the separate bedroom, but ended up with an accessible suite and we were told that we couldn't switch rooms (which we requested as soon as we saw the bathroom). It had an accessible shower which was even with the bathroom floor so water got everywhere (we have kids, which is why we got the family suite). There was also no way to stand under the water the shower unless you were sitting in the shower chair. There was very little water pressure. We've stayed in campgrounds with nicer showers. There is one towel rack for a room that can fit 6 people. It sounds nit picky but lack of space to hang things up is one of my biggest issues with some hotels. There was no where to hang Towels or swimsuits. The closet only had a bar too low to hang most things. There was a light that stayed on if you opened the closet door. There was also a light in the bathroom that never went off. There was no mirror in the bedroom. The location was good but that room was definitely not worth what we paid for (and it wasn't the room we reserved).

Horrible nightly disruptions
Reviewed By Kenthecarman06Very disappointed. PEOPLE BEWARE! There are active nightly trains here. Stayed 2 nights, Friday and Saturday and each night was woken up @ 2:30 am by a train conductor blowing his horn. I explained my displeasure upon checking out and was told(verbatim) " I will let the gm know, but we can't control the train schedule."(with a very smug attitude). I replied, I understand that, but you can also be transparent and let guests know, nightly disruptions are not uncommon due to frequent train activity. No where upon booking reservations was this me tioned. What was supposed to be a relaxing getaway, turned into a non-sleeping exhausting weekend. And then not to be offered any kind of discount or apology for this issue. People, please be aware before you stay here!!!!!!!

Reviewed By indianasunshine261We stayed at this hotel last year and booked again this year. Four of us on a girls weekend. Hotel is very clean and the staff is great. John went out of his way to accommodate us and gave us lots of suggestions and helpful tips. THIS is what customer service is all about. Thank you John for all you do!! Also the woman running the breakfast in the morning was super. Sunday she was understaffed and but she kept on hustling and had a smile on her face. Great job all!!

Nice size room n comfy furniture
Reviewed By ljretiresWe were greeted by very nice person. Found out they had pool but we didn’t use it. When we came back inside with our suitcases we noticed they had a outside fire pit and barbecue grill. It was surrounded by a wall for a little privacy. Room was nice and roomy. It had a couch which was comfortable so was the bed. There was a desk with a partition that would block the light from where the bed was. The TV was in a weird spot. Refrigerator had no freezer compartment but they did have ice maker. We were on the second floor. Shower nice but towels were rough n small. The AC or heating unit was very noisy. Rugs were clean. They had a safe in the closet. Even had a shelf above AC unit.

A nice place to visit
Reviewed By 4HfriendI had a two night stay here with family members. The location was great--a two mile straight shot from the hotel to the main shopping/restaurant area and the beach. It is across the street from the lake. There was an indoor pool which we did not use. The breakfast bar was well stocked and had some hot dishes as well as the usual items. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay here on a return trip to St. Joseph.

Reviewed By RichS6789I had a reservation for Sunday, May 29, 2022. Went to hotel and front desk said they were oversold by 3 hotel rooms; and had no room available for me. They offered for me to stay in Holland (45 mins away) or at an unsafe sister property in South Haven (They said unsafe not me!!!). At that point, I was 4 hours from home with no place to stay. What is the point of a reservation without an available room? Prior to my reservation date, the hotel sent me multiple emails stating there would be a full day charge for a no show. But when they were a no show, what do I get back in return? A 45 minute trip to Holland with $4.60 a gallon gas? Really poor customer service!!!!!

Great location for concerts at Four Winds.
Reviewed By UrsulaRulesWe stayed at the RI New Buffalo while attending a concert at Four Winds. The hotel was clean and in great condition. The staff was friendly, professional and helpful. Our room was right off the elevator and we never heard a sound. There was a nice variety of options for breakfast and the coffee was delicious! We will definitely stay again!
