Positive points : The personnel is very kind and helpful when needed :) , a big thanks to Valerie and her family. Beautiful views of the mountains. Negative points: we felt that the chalet is not in good conditions, our room and several common pieces had many dust and cobwebs.

Lovely site

Reviewed By 25RuthC25

Stayed here with friends in our campervans as we were in the area to watch the Tour de France. The site was lovely and shady, welcome in the 38 degree heat and ideally situated for the town of Bourg St Maurice and all its amenities. The staff were helpfull, shower blocks were clean , the top one near reception is the better of the two and has a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is fresh bread, croissants, pain au chocolate available on a morning , if pre-ordered. There is also a snack bar although we didn't use it. There are lots of cycling routes to choose from directly from the site including a cycle path which takes you past the swimming lake. There is a tv room come games room located near the snack bar too. All in all a lovely convenient site in a lovely area.

Clean, basic and very friendly

Reviewed By victoriamL8401TL

The accommodation is perfectly practical and functional but not luxurious. Great location to explore this side of the Alps. The best thing about this hotel was the staff. They were exceptionally friendly every day and very accommodating. We arrived very late (10.30pm) and grumpy after a long transfer form Geneva airport on New Year’s Eve. The relief when the chef stayed to cook our dinner was unquantifiable! It was a lovely meal as well! Food very good - breakfast & dinner. Would stay here again and would recommend despite being basic.

Dirty and they don't care

Reviewed By Geri301

Spent a night in the hotel during our Alps motorcycle trip. The location is very good if you are an avid biker. The owners were nice as we did the check-in and got our rooms. First things first, I put my gear in the room and headed to the bathroom to wash my hand. As soon as I opened the tap, the water with all the remaining of hairs and other dirt started to come back up in the bathtub. I directly went down to ask for another room but was told they are full and someone will come. The owner came a bit later and told me it is not their fault as the previous users did not tell them there was a problem. Note that they should have noticed immediately if they ever would have cleaned the tap in the first place as this caused the overspill in the sewage. After about 20 minutes he somehow cleaned it and told me to be careful as he could not totally solve the problem. So no shower that day... Rooms are otherwise dated and the hotel must have gone through the last renovation about 20 years ago. Dinner was good though but breakfast very basic. View from the room is stunning as you can see the Als unobstructed. Overall I would not recommend this hotel at any time, but especially not during a Covid risk period as cleaning is surely not a priority.

Stayed one night on a motorcycle tour......OK

Reviewed By LondonMetcalfe

Stayed one night in July 2020 as a group of 7 on a European Motorcycle Tour. Nice room, decent enough space and lots of hot water in the shower although the seal on the door leaked water onto the floor. Room I'd describe as compact for one let alone the 2 that the beds indicated, but fine for a one night bike stop over. Bikes parked out front seemed OK. Used the bar and terrasse for wood fired pizza supper which was tasty and drinks all fine. Breakfast acceptable but in no way exciting the following morning. No staff in evidence at breakfast time though, all stuff laid out, a fridge there too and all help yourself. If you need this location and its just one night then it would be an OK stop over on a bike tour, I wouldnt stay more that one night.

Fantastic location for a week of snowboarding

Reviewed By 965borisd

We went skiing in Les Arcs and we could not have asked for a better place to stay than the Chalet des Sangliers. Kat and Stu proved themselves wonderful hosts and excellent cooks. The breakfasts was very extensive and there was nothing like coming back from an intense day of snowboarding to find some delicious afternoon cake or cookies waiting for us. The three course meal every evening gave us a tour of the Savoy’s finest dishes and never failed to impress us. The chalet is very well equipped. The rooms are comfortable, the bathrooms are very modern and there is a wide variety of entertainment, ranging a hot tub and a sauna to board games, a Playstation and a Netflix application on the tv. The distance to the slopes was never a problem. It is a three minute drive to the funicular and Stu brought us there as early as we liked and was ready to pick us up whenever we returned. We never had to wait and he had no problem coming for a pick up twice if we decided to split up in the afternoon. We cannot recommend Chalet des Sangliers (and the fully catered option) enough. It will be difficult to find a better place to stay when going to Les Arcs.

Les Balcons du Molliebon

Charming and comfortable guest house, with wonderful and gracious hosts

Reviewed By AnotherJadedTraveler

Stayed overnight in late July with my teenage son & older daughter as we were following the Tour de France bicycle race in the French Alps. Had not selected the dinner option as I thought we would eat in town. That was not a good plan! We arrived cold and wet and Chris asked us if we wanted to stay for dinner. We eagerly accepted and little did we know what a joy it would be. I told her that my daughter did not eat meat, but did eat fish. Chris said they did not have fish but made some suggestions which sounded delicious. So we sat in the cozy reception room and had our pre-dinner drinks with a couple other guests also following the Tour. The dinner Chris & Fred prepared was an homage to traditional, simple French cuisine - and was amazing. They prepared a separate meatless quiche starter for my daughter. Much of the produce they grow or harvest locally. The main course was lasagna - very large pieces and delicious. And for my daughter - surprise - a delicate fish prepared with a sauce that was out of this world. Then I realized why dinner was a little late - Fred went to town to get fish for my daughter!! After the lasagna came the cheese board and then a chocolate cake floating in cream for desert. My son - who is not small in size nor appetite, said it was the best meal he ever had and he could not eat more! The view from the guest house into the valley towards Bourg Ste Maurice is lovely. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms have been updated. Chris and Fred are warm, wonderful people and I would stay again in a heartbeat.
