Stunning hotel

Reviewed By I1765QSsandrao

This really is a stunning hotel in a central location. Outside a typical upmarket French hotel very clean and smart, inside simply stunning all chrome and glass, never seen so many mirrors. The room was super smart with a huge in-room wet room, very comfortable with everything you could need. Breakfast was amazing, the best ever. and private parking just a short distance away. Provins is very pretty particularly the medieval area which is within walking distance of the hotel, also within walking distance a delicious Italian restaurant (name forgotten sorry). Highly recommended, we were only there one night en route but would have liked to stay longer, a really lovely hotel.

Let me add my voice to the constant and well deserved five star reviews this place receives. The charming Francine and Jean Jacques (and their two beautiful dogs) offered the most personal of welcomes and their home is an extraordinarily beautiful oasis. A wonderful breakfast and a great location from which to explore this perfect town. We had a nice dinner at Table St Jean (a recommendation from our hosts) and our stay could not have been more pleasant. Highly recommended

Tiny and cozy

Great option for 1 night on the road. Great breakfast and comfortable beds. But really small room, maximum 2 nights or it gets really tight, especially with kids and even worst if it rains! Nice village to wonder around and eat really nice

Hotel Le Clos Saint-Jacques

A taste of North Africa.

Reviewed By 1NigelT

We arrived in Provins without a hotel booking, so walked around on the hunt. A very helpful local estate agent printed off some directions so back to the car and away. We avoided the old centre of the town and decided on the Clos St. Jacques on the main road. Down the drive to a collection of buildings. The hotel was being renovated but we were shown a small room with small bathroom, but both fresh and clean. The most impressive room was the dining room and as the owners were Algerian, the cuisine was North African. A cool starter salad and then lamb tagine for my wife and lamb brochettes with couscous for me. Both were perfect and were accompanied by an excellent red wine, Cuvee de le president ! We both slept well and the next morning looked at the old town, bur agreed we had picked the right hotel.

Fabulous place and fabulous owners

Reviewed By JanRSF

We stayed two nights in the Medieval Suite which was very large, had a king bed and large modern bathroom with a fancy multi function shower. The room is beautiful with stone walls, leaded windows and ceiling beams. There’s a covered patio where we were able to enjoy a glass of wine even though it was raining. The grounds are beautiful and they host weddings and events. They offer dinner several times per week and we were lucky to be there on one of those nights. They offer several entrees and several plates. We had melon with ham and heirloom tomatoes with mozzarella to start. We both had duck breast followed by creme brûlée and chocolate mousse. We had a bottle of Chablis. The three course meal is 25€ and very delicious. Veronique and Olivier, the owners, were great and Olivier was the chef. The property is well located to downtown restaurants and shops, a few blocks from The Rose Garden and at the base of the hill for the old town which can be walked to. We hope to return, we would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful location but accommodation felt like students dorm!

Stayed for one night while travelling through France. Accommodation provided at short notice through Office de Tourisme in Provins. Given room at rear of property on 1st floor which whilst large was plain, cheaply furnished and had very little in terms of soap/shampoo or any of the usual finishing touches that make chambre d'hote different and frequently a joy to stay in. No real criticism just a sense of little care or consideration for guests.
