Nice hotel

Just spent 4 nights here with family as we attended a wedding. 1st may I thank the hotel reception for there concern and professionalism on the speedy response for my partner who slipped in the shower. Ambulance called and was at the hotel within 5 minutes .Thankfully all good. Nice hotel rooms very clean and hotel and grounds spotless. Food was hit and miss. We ate out every evening and breakfast wasn't that great. We did have lunch and me not being a great seafood eater struggled to find something filling so we ate out. Lovely hotel but wouldn't recommend to anyone with fussy eaters.

Just what we needed!

Firstly I consider ourselves very lucky in the fact that we even got away on our family holiday given all the airport chaos! The buildup was stressful and so overall I don’t want to or feel like we can complain about anything really. It’s the first holiday abroad we’ve done with our young children and it ticked all the boxes, we just wanted some time together in the sun with as little amount of stress as possible. Long gone are the days of a remote or adventurous five star honeymoon resort… what used to be top on the list of my priorities are very different going as a family. We chose the hotel because it was ten minutes from the airport, is walking distance to the town and the beach. All of these means it caters very well to families. The only negative thing I can say is that I was a little disappointed in our room. Given the fact that the hotel is four stars it just felt a little tired and in need of freshening up but the bedsheets were clean and if you want you can have fresh bath towels everyday. All the hotel staff are amazing- very attentive and approachable. From the reception team, the housekeeping, the bar staff and the restaurant waiters. The entertainment team create a great holiday atmosphere and seem to really enjoy what they’re doing. We stayed half board and I would say that the choice of food is vast and varied and seemed to cater for all dietary requirements. We didn’t have a bad meal time. All the tables are very clean and well presented. Staff are attentive and constantly removing plates that are finished with. It did became tiresome sometimes but with young children just makes sense and is far easier than going out to a restaurant every day. Everyone can just suit themselves and it’s all ready to help yourself. The pool is bigger than I was expecting and there were plenty of loungers. One thing I was expecting were towels for the pool however the only way you can get them is to hire them from the spa at €10 each deposit cash and you have to pay €1 each time you want a fresh one. Overall we’ve had a brilliant first family holiday abroad and it’s largely down to the hard work of the hotel and it’s staff. Salou is a lovey easy family friendly place to visit and it ticks all the boxes. We felt very safe and welcome.

Though good location near the beach. Extremely Noisy and overcrowded hotel!

First of all the pro's: - location near the beach - Good animation - friendly staff - food was ok Sadly there are more con's than pro's.. - this is one of the noisiest hotels I have ever been to, you can hear literally everything, people in the other rooms, in de hallway, flushing toilets and especially the banging of the doors! - WAY to overcrowded, especially ta the dining moments - our room was never clean, the maids were almost half an hour in our room while cleaning but the only thing they did was move the crumbs and sand around... - airco was also a letdown, ours was on the entire day on setting 3, the only thing that came out of the vent was a small Breese of 'cold' air. - as I said the food was ok, but many times cold... - 15 euros a day to park at the hotel is way to expensive, also the lots are so close to each other that it's difficult to drive in and out, and we were given a parking space by number, but almost everytime someone else parked at our spot... - rooms are small, there is almost no space to manoeuvre, Last of all TOO MANY CHILDREN!!! if you want some peace and quiet for your holiday, please don't come here.

Disappointing

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights at the end of May. The room was great with a lovely view of La Pineda beach and was clean. There was no kettle but there was a coffee machine with one cup each. We found the food to be limited. There wasn’t much choice, no where near the selection we’ve had on previous holidays. We stayed all inclusive but certainly wouldn’t bother with that here. There was only one choice of cocktail per day, which the hotel chose and unless you wanted to pay extra, we didn’t as we’d already paid for AI, you could only have that! We found the hotel to be very tight on AI, even getting water from the bar at night to take to your room was a problem! Unfortunately we had to leave early as I was very unwell and when landing back in U.K. we went straight to the local hospital where my blood tests pointed to having contracted E. coli. I can’t say for certain this was the hotels fault as we ate out once in Salou. As for the pool I for one didn’t smell chlorine at all so who knows?!

I stayed in hotel (half board) in May for 7 nights with my daughter. Food was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. Loved the way you can keep your bottle of wine in the cooler for the next evenings meal. Swimming pool life guard was the best I've ever seen. He was friendly and courteous at all times. He ensured sun beds were not hogged for the day by people who left towels on them and left for hours. Thank you Senor life guard. Other hotels and apartments should take note of this. Location was excellent with regular bus service to Cambrils, Salou, Tarragona and airport. Rooms were spacious and airy. Plenty of hot water at all times. The only small complaint I have is, hairdryer needs to be thoroughly cleaned to remove the sticky residue from sun lotion/after sun cream. I enjoyed my stay with you and am booked to return in October with my friend for 4 nights. Well done Hotel Augustus.

Nice hotel

We stayed in an economy room on the ground floor so it was a bit dated and dark. Apparently the more expensive rooms on the higher floors have been renovated and are nicer. However, everything was clean and well maintained and we had a good nights sleep here. The location is a bit isolated but has good access to the highway to Tarrogona. The property was lovely with a large swimming pool. There was lots of free parking on the property.

Very good family all inclusive

Reviewed By fitz24

Pros - Very good all inclusive hotels one of best we have stayed at in Spain so far. the food is good wide variety , Al a cart was very nice and the snack bar great too. We had a junior suite with 7 and. 2 year old lots of space rooms cleaned everyday, fridge in room -very handy and free pool towels! Robes and slippers provided nice . It is a very clean hotel the grounds are beautiful well maintained. Beach very close and really nice. Evening entertainment very good are favourite was Brazil night and mini disco. Jet 2 rep with blonde hair and glasses was super helpful and friendly nothing to much trouble. Cons - access to splash park is very difficult with a buggy you have to go over a rocky muddy hill and carry the buggy up the steps and you can’t gain access via the revolving door -you have to wait for bar staff to let you in who are very grumpy as they are busy. They should build a bridge and a wide door for family/disability access. Dinner time is late -19.30pm with children is such a long time to wait after a busy day - we never went the snack bar as access to the splash park was so difficult with are children we just hung around till dinner opened. Older Bar staff -2 lady’s and man at the main pool/bar are super grumpy very unfriendly and actually put me off ordering a drink. Other than that very good hotel would recommend to others .

Just ok

Reviewed By davina1979lee

The hotel is ok, pretty much what you would expect for an average spainish holiday. I wouldn't class it as 4 star, 3 at best. The food was pretty good, got a little repetitive after a week. However the restaurant is absolute chaos at peak times and it seems that rather than approaching the hot buffet and getting the item you want, people insisted on queuing the whole way around it, which I found bizarre. They do give you time slots but it doesn't seem like anyone takes any notice. Luckily we had booked an apartment and were in block 8 which had its own pool. The pool at the main building was carnage, towels down by 7.30am, some left out from the night before, despite the notices saying it wasn't allowed. Luckily the pool at our block was much quieter. Personally I couldn't have stood the noise at the main pool. There is an indoor pool but you are required to wear a swim hat which is a strange rule I have never come across, plus I can't get my hair in one so we didn't bother. The evening entertainment was a mixed bag. The thing that really spoiled it was the gangs of little brats running riot while their parents drank at the bar. I don't mind kids being kids but this was on another level and nothing was done about it. The bar menu was very limited, hardly any cocktails on the all inclusive just basic spirits and only beer or sangria at the restaurant, no wine offered. Overall, we wouldn't return, this holiday cost us £3500 for 3 people for a week and it was not worth it.
