It's an ideal base for exploring the Kansai region; Kyoto's World Heritage Sites, Nara's temple and Koya-san's eerie graves are within 90 minutes by train. Top city attractions include the aquarium, Osaka Castle, Universal Studios Japan and the futuristic Floating Garden Observatory.

Excellent location, spotless rooms

Reviewed By ukjacek

This hotel is perfectly positioned, being under 5 minutes walk from Shinsaibashi station and shopping centre, and 10 minutes walk from Dotonbori. The rooms are compact, but spotlessly clean. The staff are wonderfully helpful and efficient. Lots of freebies available such as pocket wifi rental, ramen tasting and cookery demonstrations. We will certainly stay there again.

My buddy and I used Hotel Port Vita as put accomodation when spending 9 day in Japan this month and couldn't have been happier. It was perfectly located for a visit to USJ just a 5 minute walk away and City Walk where there you can find both local and western styles food (stick local!) It was only 3 train stops to the Osaka Loop Line which served the most popular locations in the Kansai area. This included Osaka itself, Kyoto and Nara. The furthest of which was about an hour away. It was also only about 3 hours to Tokyo. The hotel room itself was spacious and very well equipped. The staff were brilliant and spoke very good English (we did try basic communication in Japanese) I wouldn't hesitate to stay again here even if we didn't intend on going to Universal Studios. Thank you so much to the staff who were exceptional polite throughout our stay

Great Stay and Spot On Location

Reviewed By globetrotterswannebe

We stayed here recently with family of 4 ( 2 young kids of 10 and 7 yo) during a recent visit to Osaka. Our primary focus was Universal, although we only visited Universal for several days and did some other excursions. We found the hotel to be a great stay and would highly recommend it. It's all about location here as hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to Universal front gate and across the street is the subway/train station to explore all of Osaka and also Universal Street Walk. Hotel was very clean and although I'm not a fan of big corporate hotels, this stay felt more family oriented. They have a Lawson's downstairs which was great. We opted to pay for their breakfast which was good. Stay was expensive however and I think we paid over $400 USD per night.... so you get what you pay for..... Room was large with big bathroom. Came with fridge and safe. Highly recommend this hotel on your next stay.

Great location in Osaka

Reviewed By Robert V

I stayed here 5 nights in mid-March of 2020 in Rm 1729. The first night to myself and the last 4 nights as part of my tour group who arrive the 2nd day. I was originally was going to be in a single deluxe room on the 18th floor(top floor) but they moved me into my assigned tour group room to avoid having to move me later. I had the brief opportunity to see the single deluxe room before moving me into the two double bed room. It was spacious compared to my two double bed room. The rest was the same. Anyway, upon entering the room you pass the bathroom on your right. You open the door outward. The sink is on the right and the shower on the left. The shower has a folding door. There is a typical Japanesse plastic seat in it that you can move. There is no tub in the shower. The toilet is at the back of the bathroom I think on the right. The bathroom is only big enough for one person at a time outside the shower. I should mention so you are not shocked but toilet lids in Japan are heated. Japan is big on toilets with lots of features. Last there were large bottles of bath gel, shampoo, and conditioner in the shower. Opposite the shower is a small rack where you can hang your clothes up. Interestingly it is a very small opening to the rack that. You access the opening that is parallel to the wall. A bit unsual but by Western standard but it is available. There are two double beds in the room on the right. There is only about 18 inches or 40 cm seperating them. One bed's side is against the wall and no walking around on that side. The other bed side has space to walk around since there is a desk next to the bed. There are several USB power connections with on/off swiches for each above and between each bed. I am not sure but there may be a night stand between the two beds. Opposite the two beds is an LCD TV mounted on the wall. The only English station on it was the Bloomberg channel. There is only about 3 feet between the foot of the bed and the opposite wal. I n the very back of the room are two chairs and a small table between them along wit hthe desk I mentioned earlier. The desk has a good size surfance to work from. You will find the remote for the TV, AC/Heat, and other other remote(never figured out what it was). The TV remote was easy to figure out. The Climate control remote took a little figuring out but once you turned it on and set the temperature it was straight forward. It can get rather toasty if you want it to be in winter. The hotel has a restaurant. I ate all my breakast there. They have Western and Japanese breakfast. Western would be scramblled eggs, sausage links(more like hot dogs by US standards) fruit bread slice, etc.. Japanese would be like salad, sushi, fried rice, and a lot other items. Due to the coronavirus they were serving it out in pre-portioned small plates with plastic wrap on them. There was also Minute Maid Orange Juice. I am uncertain if they serve lunch/dinner there since we did not eat there and we were the only people there due to the coronavirus issue going on. But they did serve ramen in a chicken broth at night at 2130 which was great as a snack before bed. You could also get some drinks like ginger ale along with it. It was free. It was really nice and I really liked it. I should menion there is a drinking stand you can access all day near reception that serves Minute Maid Orange Juice, hot tea and several other drinks. We did not take advantage of the hot spring in the hotel but they are there. I think they are on the 2nd floor and possibly the 3rd floor. The hotel is located in a great area. Lots of restaurants nearby serving a large variety of Japanese type cuisines, such as tempura, noodles, sushi, etc.. The sidewalks are VERY side and flat. You can easily find the pedestrain walkways to cross the streets. It was a lot of fun walking down the street checking out the restaurants to see what they had on their menu. I should mention there is a tower on the street nearby that changes color. I took a taxi to the hotel from KIM or Osaka airport. It costed me about $170 USD using my credit card. It took at least 25 minutes to reach the hotel. You can take from what I understand is a shuttle bus from the airport that drops you off at the nearby subway station and then you can walk to the hotel. I almost forgot to mention the supermarket that is very close by to the hotel. If you turn right from the hotel entrance and go about 70 meters you will come to a very sizeable supermarket by Japanese standard. They sell fruit, produce and all the usual stuff here. I bought some apples and oranges here. Be advised the store would not take credit card. Only cash. There is also a 7-Eleven a little further than 70 meters from the hotel but in the direction to the left of the main entrance. The street forks and can not recall which one you go(possibly the right). Anyway you go down the street and it is on the left side. The staff at the hotel were very confident and courteous to me. The staff knew English to a certain extent. One guy at the front desk knew English very well. Overall, I really liked the location of the hotel with its proximity to various restaurants, supermarket, and 7-Eleven. I also liked the 2130 ramen snack and breakfast was nice choosing between Western and Japanese stuff. The rooms with 2 beds are a bit small but what big city hotel isn't. I would certainly stay here again since I enjoyed it very much my stay here.

The hotel is a big convention centre with a lot of tourists from around the world. It is a very big building and you can’t miss it. The hotel was nice and it did a job for a nights stay but the room was very basic and had tired furnishings. It also advertises that it had a pool, but this was closed. The hotel also advertised a gym for guests but this was an extra charge which wasn’t advertised when booking the hotel via hotels.com. There is a free shuttle bus which was handy to head to Osaka station as it is quite a walk otherwise.

Covid 19 TRAVEL BAN from Australia Poor customer service

Reviewed By andrewkM3984EZ

As you are aware, the coronavirus pandemic that has effected all of Asia and travel from Australia has now been restricted with a compulsory 14-day self quarantine period upon return. Despite making a reservation with this hotel on November 25th 2019, prior to any hint of a pandemic occurring, this hotel has refused to offer a refund for the cancellation of the trip. They also refused to give us credit if we rescheduled a trip back to Osaka when the pandemic is cleared. I totally understand that the situation with the reduced tourism & travel during the pandemic period and how it will affect the hotel's profit margin, the pandemic is not something that we could never foresee. Cancelling the whole family trip it's not something that we were hoping to do. Even if they kept the money they gave us credit for a future reservation, that would have been the better compromise for us as we were looking forward to fly into Japan to be part of the Cherry Blossom festival some day. Despite numerous communications with this hotel, they have not changed the decision. If we ever travel to Japan again for the Cherry Blossom festival, this hotel will never be one that we will ever stay because of their lack of compassion. Good Luck with your occupancy for the rest of 2020. Osaka, you should be ashamed of Hotel Hankyu Respire for its poor customer service
