Charged double and housekeeping barged in with a Do Not Disturb sign on the door during a late checkout

Reviewed By KJLD612

We stayed here for two nights. Overall, it was a comfortable place for a short stay. The hotel decor is modern, the room was clean upon arrival, the AC worked well, hot water and shower pressure were great, and the downtown location was convenient. Two complaints: 1. This one is minor. We were charged twice, but we understand mistakes happen. They apologized, and it's likely an easy fix. Hopefully it'll be settled and our credit card will be refunded within a few days. 2. My spouse is a platinum Marriott member eligible for perks such as late checkout. We requested a late checkout for our day of departure with the front desk staff, but somehow this didn't get communicated to the housekeeping staff. We had the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. My spouse was in the bathroom, and I was in the middle of changing clothes when a maid knocked on the door and quickly entered before I had a chance to answer it! I explained we requested a late checkout, but there seemed to be a language barrier so at first she misunderstand and stood there nodding her head and saying yes, we needed to checkout. This is the second Marriott property this has happened to us at recently, and I cannot for the life of me understand why this isn't an easy communication and top priority to double check before entering since it violated our privacy. Not cool.

Not worth the price

This has been a stop for us on many, many trips. But this hotel is sadly showing it's age and they want over $150/night for an average at best room. It's just time to reinvest some of that money into carpet upgrades and better furniture. For this much money we'll find a better place next time through Paducah. Had a one bedroom suite, where the bed was next to the door to the hallway, and I mean next to the door. I felt like we were sleeping out in the hallway!!

Homeless Issue

Reviewed By Mobile09263570027

The hotel was nice and quiet as usual for Embassy but it is situated in not great area downtown chaos and homelessness. Felt totally unsafe to go past valet as a group of them constantly asking for anything and following you. Even one hit a patron of hotel for no reason. All staff could do was laugh. Then 4th street live down the block a joke, everything closing down and seemed dirty. Seems like another San Francisco soon.

I will stay again

Reviewed By KKJACKS

The location was easily accessible to I65 as well as I264, very convenient for my work commute. Very accommodating check-in process and they were able to upgrade my room for my Hilton honors status. I enjoyed the 1 bedroom king room, room 828. Space to spread out was appreciated, even though I was traveling alone. The hotel was clean in all areas, although the carpeting is dark and looking rather worn. The hallways to the rooms also seemed compact and dark. The room itself was fine. I was most impressed that the property has sufficient water pressure, even on the top/8th floor! I hope if they do a remodel they do NOT switch to low-flow and low pressure sink or shower faucets. (Many Hamptons have switched to those styles, much to their detriment. I’m not a fan of form over function!) I had a few issues, but they were resolved with care and timeliness. My room only had 1 regular shirt hanger, and 2 pants hangers. As I left for the evening, I requested a few extra hangers and they were waiting for me upon my return that evening. Alex knew right where the afternoon shift had left them and quickly delivered my extra hangers and also provided me an extra sheet. The AC unit in the room (central AC) was making a high-pitched squeaking noise, beyond the typical loud unit sounds found in most hotel rooms. I made a call down that first night and Alex was very willing to relocate my room, but I was hesitant as I appreciated the location of my room and had already settled in for the night. He could hear the sound over the phone and said it definitely wasn’t “normal.” I wore my earplugs and chilled the room as cold as I could get it before turning off the AC for the night. The next morning mentioned it to the front desk and upon returning that evening the AC issue was resolved no issue. I’m glad I didn’t have to move all my stuff, but admittedly did NOT sleep well that first night. I did notice some noise from the UPS large jets at the airport, but it was handled with either earplugs or being exhausted enough to not notice. I used the treadmill once (good condition) but did not take any meals in the downstairs grill. Many evenings there was plenty of guests taking advantage of the on-site dining room, so it must have done the job. There was somewhat of a dank, musty type smell in the entry-way and lobby area. It smelled a bit old, so perhaps they need to clean carpets or consider very light air freshners. I will certainly choose this location again for future work travel in the Louisville area.
