This hotel was not fancy; the rooms were basic but absolutely spotless. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was nice. The most amazing part of our experience was the incredible hospitality of the staff - so kind and welcoming at every turn. We have traveled extensively, and I simply can’t recall ever feeling this degree of genuine hospitality. Such a treat! Would surely stay there again.

Disappointing 2.5 rounded to a 3

Not usually this long-winded... The pool area was not as relaxing as I’d hoped. One of the staff members talked so loudly at the upstairs restaurant, which is open to the pool below, that it was a disappointment. Elevator nice to have. Dinner with two types of noodle dishes that were very average, 3. Breakfast 7-10am was not geared toward a Western clientele, with only a couple of egg items and fruit. Vienna-type sausages truly tasted like rubber. Worst breakfast ever. Another breakfast at the hotel was an overcooked omelet, toast with jam, fruit and orange juice. Served in the enclosed dining hall on the 4th floor. There is also an open-aired seating area between the two eating areas. The other guests were extraordinarily loud, especially in the hallway outside our Room 101 which is next to the elevator. My daughter had Room 112, which is directly across from the elevator and adjacent to the front lobby. Room 101 also backed up to the street where you enter the property, so that was loud with tourists constantly talking. The hotel also had flashing lights flashing on a palm tree directly outside of the window, and the curtains were shear which made the room bright when you were trying to go to sleep. Choose different rooms on the 2nd or 3rd floors.

Friendly staff with clean rooms and a good breakfast. Plus first hot shower I have had at a hotel this trip. The beds are very hard and a double is just two singles pushed together but still a great stay right on the river.

Demoso Lodge

Lovely stay

Reviewed By Nick D

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Demoso Lodge last week. We had the 2 best nights sleep out of our whole trip there. Although the nights were cold the staff thoughtfully provided an extra duvet in case we needed it. The lake was quite small due to lack of rain when we visited but it still attracted several bird species each morning. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and enjoyed each meal very much. If they don't have something on the menu the first night they might be able to get it for 2nd night as they did for us with the fishcakes. They will do laundry for reasonable price if you ask.

Amazing getaway in Loikaw!

Reviewed By Robin5272

It was one of the most memorable trips I've had with my family in Myanmar. Our 3 night stay at the lodge was worth every bit of the trouble of having to drive 11 hours from Yangon. I can see why many people choose to fly instead, but driving has its own charm. This boutique lodge is a meticulous crossover between modern western chic and subtle Asian design elements, resulting in unique style and coziness. It's location is perfect. If you're into running, you'll be rewarded for bringing a pair of your running shoes as the lake in front of the lodge offers a great scenic jogging trail. It takes 1 hour to the ethnic village where you will see the long-neck ladies; 40 minutes to Pekon where you'll have a spectacular, serene view of Inle Lake. The hotel features a spacious dining room surrounded by big windows through which natural light shines. Though the menu is not a big spread, the food was consistently tasty and was served by accommodative staffs. The walls are decorated with a mesmerizing photo exhibit of a Myanmar ethnic tribe known to wear facial tattoos. On my last night, the lodge even organized a small presentation to help us understand the tradition of facial tattoos. Highly recommend the lodge to anyone who plans to visit Loikaw!!

Superbly helpful anager and staff in a beautiful non touristy place in Myanmar

Reviewed By bobinathens

This is a real find. World traveler and managerTerrence speaks English and several other languages fluently and is a great story teller. He is also a great resource for travel in Myanmar. He will arrange superb trips to the surrounding countryside with a young woman from on of the local tribal groups. He also arranbged trips closer in through Loikaw. There are few if any tourists in this beautiful part of Myanmar. The Hotel is spotless. The rooms are large. Wifi is strong. The included breakfast is magnificnt, with European and Myanmar choices. Other meals are as good. The staff is beyond helpful and charming. Terrence also helped us arrange a small boat for the 8 hour trip way up to Inle Lake. and Nyaungshwe. That was one of the highlights of our Myanmar trip. If you do that, then you do NOT need to schedule another trip to the lake when you get to Nyaungshwe.

Still Call Thingaha My Home

Reviewed By ditsywitsy

After having spent several weeks with my Thingaha family over the last two years there is no way, no matter how good the deal I am offered, that I would stay somewhere else. Owners and staff are absolutely fab and the ambiance, particularly that of the dining room beside the mist covered river at breakfast, is still spine chilling. Having watched every stage of the fruiting of the longan tree outside my room for two years, I await eagerly to see the flowers again when I return in January, and then, to eventually the taste the bountiful harvest mid-year. What is surprising is the small number of foreigners who actually stay here. Locals, be they government, NGOs or families on holiday, love this place.

We stayed at a small house on the lake side. You can walk along the bank but not so clean. The hotel is a bit old style and lack some tender touch. The internet is not working well. We enjoyed the pineapple juice as it is in season. The city is cute and tidy. There is a coffee shop on the main street. The pagoda on top of a mountain has great views.
