Value for Money

Sky Motor Inn is a good option for drivers exploring Blue Mountains. It is located a short 3 min drive to Katoomba town and just outside the Great Western Highway. Check in was fast and staff gave a quick run down on the places of interests with helpful suggestions. Room is of decent space (we booked a Family Room for 5 which comes with one large bed, 3 single beds, a dining set and bathroom) and clean. Place is quiet despite it having high occupancy rate (judging by the number of parked cars).

Olde World Charm

A real nod to the character of the 1930s and 40s, dark and moody. We had a comfortable stay for two nights in a Queen room with a hot breakfast included. The room was cosy given that the original design and concept was kept true to the era but all the amenities were included. The bed was very comfortable and the linen crisp and clean. The bathroom was spacious. The hot breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Items were topped up by the staff when you requested. Hard to beat for $19 each. Check in experience was what I expected. Staff were pleasant and engaging and explained everything in detail. A venue true to it's rating. Would stay there again

Definitely stay here, it's wonderful! Warm, cosy and welcoming. Easy parking, close enough to town. Absolutely beautiful house with a fantastic innkeeper - Annette is friendly and so knowledgeable about the area. Super clean, and a very comfy bed. The kitchen is well equipped and it's so nice to be able to prepare a meal and sit at the communal table. Mature guests, not a party house. Unbelievable value for money. I'll definitely stay here again.

Public corridor areas cold. Lounge comfortable could do with a nice open fire for the winter months! Breakfast very good, staff friendly and welcoming. Great having parking on site. Reasonable rates midweek stay.

Need to be brought back to life

The good things. Really close to town and main Street. The best were comfortable enough and had the basic amenities you need. The not so good things . The motel (just like the town it self) was extremely dated. We went peak season so paid a fair penny but it was a bit over priced for its condition. It smelt if mould and wet, the carpets were stained and looked ruined. The shower had absolutely no pressure and was hard to wash in.

Great family room with a slant

Reviewed By AllPlanet

My family spent two nights here and found the room size comfortable. My girls loved the bunk beds. Great location within walking distance to sites, cafes, art places..etc. management tired but friendly. The floor had a slant on it and it was like being on a ship but I guess that is the charm of a semi historic property. Would stay again without hesitation.

We booked this for location and restaurant, location of what we needed was great, cleanliness was average the room smelt musty and obviously the curtains had not been cleaned for some time nor were they moved for cleaning behind the curtains, went and asked about the restaurant and breakfast which is no longer in operation however is still advertised on the website and in the hotel information in the rooms. trying to organise some form of dinner was minimal due to no availability for uber eats or other alternative options.

Close to attractions and views

My husband and I stayed one night (a Sunday) in late Feb 22. We booked a Grand Deluxe room. The room we received was 'Bass' and it was on the lower level with a door out onto the gardens, and if skies were clear you would be able to see the canyon views out the window. The bed was set at other side of the room so 'in bed' you would not see the view. It turned out that it was mostly rainy/foggy the night we stayed so I wasn't disappointed. Looking at the hotel it is hard to tell what rooms would be what category, as when booking there is a range of rooms from Deluxe, Grand Deluxe, and so on but the images shown for each room look pretty much the same for many of the categories... the explanation I had was that grand deluxe would have courtyard or balcony and have a view... if the sky had been clear and maybe if we'd booked a couple of nights and were looking forward to lazing in the room looking at the view I may have been disappointed with this room vs the pictures of the room on the website. I think the balcony rooms would have had better views, and if you had a choice probably rooms at the other end of the hotel (as it is quite small there are only a handful of rooms on each level) would provide a more expansive view... but I don't know what category rooms matched to what location. As for the room itself, it was 'classically' decorated in keeping with the hotel vibe. The room was comfortable, had a little couch and a tv which you could view from the couch or from the bed. The bed was comfy, although I do wish hotels offered firm pillows as a standard option. The room had a shower which had good pressure. The gardens outside the room were pleasant. A good thing about the hotel is that you have access to the amenities at the sister hotel Lilianfels literally less than minutes walk across the road. This had a heated indoor pool we used, there are change rooms there to use to get into bathers etc so you don't have to walk over in your robe. The change rooms were ok, everything worked and the spa in middle of the change rooms was lovely and hot. As you look closer it all definitely is in need of some maintenance... cleaning grout, fixing some fittings, re-painting etc, but all satisfactory. There is also a games room including a huge billiards/pool table which was cool to have a go on (my husband appreciated it much more than my meagre skills did). We had breakfast included in our stay and that was upstairs on-site at Echoes in the morning. A nice selection off a menu for a hot dish, and then some fruit and pastries also brought to the table to share, and included barrister coffee. Views from the restaurant were expansive, if you were going to have dinner (which we didn't) I'd recommend requesting a table at the window! Overall I would recommend Echoes, although glad I shopped around to find a good deal as it isn't a 'modern' hotel and at full price not sure the room and view I got would have been worth the price.
