Hostellerie le Marechal

The Tranquility of a village at the water’s edge, right in the centre of town. Old, half-timbered houses, balconies heaped with flowers, weeping willows which dip their boughs into the Lauch waters… this is the heart of Colmar, the old quarter which is so picturesque that it has been called “Little Venice”. Constructed in 1565 on the fortified walls which encircle the old town (11th century), the Hostellerie « Le Maréchal » welcomes you to the center of this enchanting spot. Everything about the place has charm, tranquility, elegance and courtesy. Why not try a four poster bed from the yesterdays ? The owners, Family BOMO, will personally ensure your comfort. The 30 Rooms and suites are nostalgic, furnished with good brocades and antiques, but with 21st century conveniences : TV LCD HD (international chanels), WIFI, Minibar, Phone, Individual Air Conditioning, WC, Safe, Hair Dryer, all equiped with bath (some with whirpool bathroom) and shower (some with massage shower).

Historic Jewel in central Colmar

This was my third stay at this extraordinary little hotel. A charming receptionist helped us with the dinner reservation. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed. We had room #2 which is a small but nicely furbished double with a brand new bathroom. Nevertheless elderly people would not get out of the bath tub without help. Lavish breakfast buffet. As the location of this beautiful hotel is in the heart of the historic quarter called Petite Venise, you can easily have a walk around just from the hotel and explore the neighbourhood.

Colmar Hotel

The hotel is only a few meters from the station. Once setteled in, you will be amazed by the city of Colmar: its museums, its authenticity , its 'must see' like "le quais de la Poissonnerie", "la Maison Pfister", "le Koifhus", "la Maison des Tetes"... In december, during the christmas market, you will be blown away by all its lights and its fairytale scenery.

Charming Place

Very close to the railway station, this hotel is easy to find. The front entrance aesthetic lacks a little, being a parking lot, but the interior and the rooms make up for that. The breakfast area is large and nicely decorated, and they have a lovely and comfortable outdoor lounging area at the back of the hotel. The breakfast selection was good and most of the staff were very pleasant. The rooms were comfortable and colourfully decorated. The bathroom mirror could use better lighting. Situated where it is, it's about a 15 - 20 minutes walk to the old town and La Petite Venise. I enjoyed my stay here very much.

The hotel is situated just on the edge of the old town, close enough to walk to all the restaurants and attractions but far enough away to miss the happy crowds gathering around the restaurants and attractions. Rooms are comfortable, clean and well laid out with excellent bathroom space. There’s a kettle, coffee machine and fridge; basic needs are well provided for. The only downer is the intermittent nature of the Wi-Fi. Staff are super friendly and helpful, which makes the difference between good and excellent.
