Comfortable, Beautiful Surroundings, Good Breakfast
Reviewed By doctorbobsterLocated on a remote road and overlooking the water, the Sudur-Bar Guesthouse is a comfortable place to stay in this part of Iceland. We had a room with a private bath and found it to be everything we needed. The bed was comfortable (though the pillows were mushy.) The bathroom was modern. The breakfast was good. The host was friendly and gracious. The WiFi was solid. We enjoyed our stay and, returning to this part of Iceland at a later time, we would stay here again.

Reviewed By 55guille55Very nice and clean hotel. Staff was super nice. Breakfast was good and tasty (good fruit, bread and variety). I would repeat for sure. There is also a jacuzzi outside where you can enjoy the view while being in the jacuzzi

Good location, decent WiFi
Reviewed By BayjbStayed here for a night after coming up to the Peninsula early. Staff was helpful in getting me checked in without a reservation but definitely seemed a little thrown off by a walk in. Good street parking and good location to town and access to the sites. Single room is small but that’s to be expected. You can hear literally everything in the hostel, including conversation a upstairs. That was a surprise for some reason. The kitchen is available but sparse and the common areas aren’t very inviting. WiFi is just okay. For one night this was fine but I don’t think I would stay again. For the cost and no breakfast included and how basic this was, plus a shower door that doesn’t close, I think there are other options that would be better in the area.

Reviewed By W589RMdonnakGreat location. Very clean and it was also quiet. This bed and breakfast is a great value. Breakfast was nice next door. The coffee was very good also. We had a group of six with three rooms and we were all very comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Reviewed By CazWrightLovely location, we booked a studio room with views onto Kirkjufell Mountain, it didn't disappoint. The rooms were a good size, clean and well furnished, there are common areas for cooking and eating and there are several restaurants in the village although only Kaffi59 was open when we were there. we were luck to have a spectacular Aurora on one night we were there, however this was followed by a severe storm and the owner came round to advise us not to travel as it was too dangerous with winds close to 90mph, so we stayed an extra night and staff kept us updated with regards to the road conditions.

My, oh my!
Reviewed By dirkvoyagerYour own private cottage looking out to the Greenland sea, Mount Kirkjufell and Grundjafor. Small, bright, quaint, comfortable, warm, well equipped and welcoming. A nice detailed information book in the cottage. The only sound was sea based water fowl and wind. Warm wool blankets provided to sit out side. Supplied with coffee and tea, plus basic kitchen items. The bed comfortable, incredible comforters to stay warm at night. No USB ports, not an issue as we came prepared with 220 plug adapters and 220 to 110 converters. Thank you Anne & Sebastien.

The Old Post Office Guesthouse has recently (2017-2018) undergone major renovation and now most rooms have private bathrooms. The guesthouse is situated in the center of Grundarfjordur with a good view of the Kirkjufell mountain. Guests can cater for themselves in a shared kitchen.

Reviewed By ZamboMilIt's probably not by chance that the name of this guesthouse includes the word "OLD". Externally it's a badly shaped building needing strong refurbishment. However and most important, internally is good: rooms are not big but comfortable, common spaces (kitchen and tables) are quite wide, the position near Kirkjufellsfoss is perfect.

Einfach, preislich angemessen, ok
Reviewed By EisenbahnbaerDas Zimmer im Stöð Guesthouse war einfach, aber sauber. Der Ausblick auf ein Industrie-/Gewerbegebiet war grausam, es gibt aber wohl auch Zimmer mit Ausblick auf den Kirkjufell, wir hatten wohl einfach Pech mit dem Zimmer. Die Zimmer liegen im ersten Stock, man muss bereits im Erdgeschoss seine Schuhe ausziehen und geht dann auf Socken mit allem Gepäck auf der Treppe nach oben. Verständlich im Winter, aber schon etwas ungewohnt. Hatte etwas von Jugendherberge, genau wie die Gemeinschaftsküche, von der wir nur den Wasserkocher genutzt haben. Aber preislich für Island recht günstig, von daher insgesamt ok.

Homely house
Reviewed By habana999Lovely base to explore the surrounding area including kirkjufell. My room had a direct view of the mountain however it was too misty to see anything. The house was spotless and very accommodating and had all the facilities of a normal kitchen. Would definitely go back! You do need a vehicle to reach the accommodation however. A lot of facilities are closed in grundarfjordur on a Monday.
