Top 10 hotels in Dewey Beach, United States

June 29, 2022 Layne Dawes

Delaware's Dewey Beach is a spectacular sandbar community - on one side is Rehoboth bay, and on the other side there are the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Dewey Beach itself is a small town of less than 400 people, but it has become a popular tourist destination for anyone interested in water sports and beach vacations, and is the perfect spot for a relaxing family getaway. If you get tired of Dewey Beach, which is pretty much impossible, Cape May is only 30 miles down the road and Brandywine Zoo and the historic Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard are right around the corner.

This little motel is fabulous. Just wanted to get away before the holidays. Booked over the phone and arrived 3 days later. Location is great and right on the bay. Could watch sunset from our bed. This was there last weekend open until March. The room was spotless, smelled fresh and every attention to detail was met. Then you open the curtains and it is pure heaven. Our room was 108 perfect. Close to free ice....soda and snack machine. The front desk was very kind and friendly. Cannot wait to book The Bay Resort in Dewey Beach De again and again. Thanks for the memories.

A gold standard hotel

I checked into the Gold Leaf Hotel exactly at check-in time and I had to pee. I ran inside to check in, doing my best not to be doing the pee dance and failing. I signed my paperwork, got my key and ran upstairs to my room. I say all that to say I did not get the normal verbal breakdown of the property but I’m pretty sure it's because I visibility had to pee. Other than that the staff at the front desk is super friendly and was able to check me in quickly. The room was large with a table and a small couch with a sitting area. I love that the fridge has a freezer attached. The gym and breakfast area was closed due to covid and the pool as well as sun area was under construction. Plenty of parking onsite with a covered garage that goes up as far as the hotel does which is 4 floors. Steps from the beach though it was a little too cold to go during my trip. Very dog friendly area. All in all a very nice hotel that was clean, larger than it looked, and in a great location with the fun Nalu Hawaiian Surf Bar & Grille being right across the street. Would 100% recommend!

Not friendly

I booked a room around 11:30 am and called around 1:30 pm to state my trip to visit a house for sale was cancelled and asked for a refund. They refused and had a 72 hour prior cancellation policy. I asked since I just booked a couple hours prior and they refused to add the person was very rude in her commenting back. I asked to speak with the manager and he was not there she said she would check further and called back and said he said no. This was hardship enough for us as we were on our way to Dewey from upstate NY around 100 miles into the trip and since the viewing of the house was cancelled there was no sense in driving 200 more miles to stay a night and drive 300 miles home with 2 small dogs. I was not told that there were no cancellations allowed for the same day booking not that I thought I was going to have to cancel. Although I wish I waited as apparently they had plenty of rooms available when I called. Very poor customer service and lost a customer who frequents stays in Delaware and am looking to move to the state eventually.

The location is great, a short block from the beach. Free parking on the lot, with a shower outside to rinse off sand. Very kind and helpful staff. We got there a few hours before check in time, we weren't able to check in early, which was fine, but they let us park there while we went to the beach. After the long drive, we needed to use the restroom but they don't have one available in the lobby or anywhere before checking into your room, so that was inconvenient. While the room wasn't fancy or up to date, it was mostly clean, however the fridge was definitely not clean, we were missing a flat sheet on one of the beds and the shower wasn't great. Water pressure and temp ok, but the shower head sprayed water in odd directions and was obviously old. Bathroom was very small with no counter space. All the negative aside, it was as we expected for the price we paid and all we really needed it for was to sleep, so it was perfectly acceptable for our needs. We'll definitely stay there again if we come to the area.

Great location and very helpful staff

Reviewed By RJHaskell

We had only two concerns, one minor and one major. The bottom line though is that the staff was more than accommodating. The AC unit didn't work in one room, but staff comp-ed us one of the two nights we were there. And the other concern was a bit of mold on the shower curtain. Otherwise, it was a very good stay.

The Dunes Rehoboth Beach

The Dunes Rehoboth Beach is a quiet, clean, family-oriented property with proximity to all the attractions of Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach. The Dunes is in an ideal location; only a ten minute walk to the beach, a quick trolley ride to the Rehoboth boardwalk, and walking distance to the restaurants and bars of Dewey.

Great staff, very basic and lacking accommodations

Reviewed By Nascargjrl88

First off, Amy and Belle are super nice and kudos to housekeeping. This was our first vacation in 5 years... Never again at this hotel. We've stayed in nicer hotels with larger rooms and pools for much less. For a pet friendly hotel, there isn't rally anywhere for your dog to do his business unless you walk along the busy highway to the neighborhood behind. What little patch of green there is at the hotel, you're likely to step in someone else's stinky business. So much for please clean up after your pet! Our double room was incredibly small to accommodate a dog crate even after rearranging furniture. You can barely move in the tiny bathroom. Very noisy being right on the main road. I don't know about the renovation that supposedly took place, seemed pretty lacking all around- especially the exterior. The nightstand USB/AC outlets didn't work. The shower and sink were old, outdated, and the shower curtain smelled funky. The dog shower on the premises is a converted mini tub with an old, leaky hose. It is centrally located and within walking distance of downtown, although getting in and out of the parking lot was sometimes tricky. Aside from the aforementioned staff, this hotel is only good if you need basic accommodations during the week. Otherwise, definitely not worth $200 for weekends.
