Reviewed By GeeJay9Stayed overnight. The emphasis in this modern and well-positioned hotel is on 'large': big room, king-size bed, big shower and bathroom and all very comfortable too. There is a gated carpark. Although there is no restaurant in the hotel, there is one (see separate review) in the Campanile hotel just across the road. The Kyriad tokens for a complimentary glass of wine each in the restaurant were much appreciated. The hotel is situated in a large, commercial estate on the edge of town and good restaurants in the immediate vicinity are very thin on the ground, although there is a Buffalo Grill (not tried ) less than 5 minutes walk away through the tunnel under the elevated expressway. Altogether a good hotel experience and we shall certainly be staying here again.

Reviewed By geekleGreeted by "No guests are checking in today." They were mistaken. Reception ran up the stairs to check on a room for us. I wanted to love this place but much to be desired. Flies on the ceiling, they obviously were not expecting us. Stained carpet. Wish we had stayed elsewhere.

Reviewed By PA_AUDEThe room was ok, a little bit dark. The bed was extra-large. The size of the bathroom was sufficient. Very convenient : the proximity of the restaurant that is relatively cheap. I will come back without hesitation for a new trip in Gueret.

Reviewed By Jacky HWe stayed here after finding the place through France Passion. This is a very quiet spot with well looked after grounds. We had a very delicious meal here consisting of goats cheese salad following by a huge pork chop. This was food from their farm and it was cooked beautifully. It was a reasonable price too.

Reviewed By 111nessWonderful little stop over on our way south. Our room was beautiful and very big. We arrived very tired but left very well rested. The little town is fabulous and our hosts booked us into a fantastic little restaurant for supper. Breakfast was very lovely. Would highly recommend.

Major Roadworks
Reviewed By SPR-ambleWhen we arrived there were major roadworks on the street which meant that the main road leading to the hotel was closed. Overnight we had to park on a side street opposite and wheel our cases across a muddy road. The roadworks started again at eight o’clock so getting out was not easy. The décor has been described as “Wood and Gold”; the breakfast room could justify this description but was still rather shabby. In our bedroom there was no gold and the only wood in sight was where the paint had been knocked off the skirting. The room was large but very much in need of redecoration and some TLC. Perhaps when the roadworks are completed the hotel will have a major update. The bed was king-sized firm and comfortable, the shower good, two useful hooks to hang cloths in bathroom and the water was hot. Well you might say what more do you want for one night! A pity the toilet flush needs maintenance and the arrangement of furniture in this large bedroom was awkward. That the view from the window was of extensive roadworks hardly matters as they did not work at night. Though the restaurant, “Au Bœuf” was good and friendly (See separate report), breakfast was a bit slim, the ham had nearly run out and there were no other cold meats, and only a little cheese. We saw no staff in the breakfast room and there no replacements of food; there were lots of people after us!

Reviewed By 626ShelleyPWe stayed here for 3 nights during a road trip around France. Dom the owner is a very friendly and amiable chap who never stops smiling. The place itself is basic but clean and the breakfast very limited, but the restaurant boasts a good menu with large portions. It’s perfectly situated to visit Abusson, the wolves of Chabrières and Gueret. All in all a very good place to stay on a budget.

Reviewed By Nigel710Stayed here for one night whilst travelling around the Limousin area. Our room was huge and decorated to a very high standard. The shower was amazing and the huge bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was a variety of the usual goodies and the coffee ( served in soup bowls ) was excellent. Overall, a great country location which although slightly higher in price than some of it’s peers will not disappoint.
