Not a Great Experience for Us
Reviewed By laughlovetravelwineMy stay here is probably against the norm but I wanted to share our experience. We were arriving in the evening and the owner provided us the door access code to get in as they do not have a 24 hour reception. This is more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel. On our way to Biarritz our car had a flat tire on the highway. So instead of arriving around 9pm, we ended up arriving at 1am via taxi. I wasn’t too concerned as we had the code to get in, but unexpectedly the gate to the property was locked! We searched and searched to see if the code actually accessed the gate, but it didn’t. I called the owner, but it was so late, so there was no answer. We were getting so desperate as it was so late at night that we started calling other hotels within walking distance. Fortunately, a group of party goers walked by and saw our predicament and somehow they were able to press a release button inside the gate lock and pry it open. Then we carried our suitcases up three flights of stairs to our room. We had requested an extra bed for our son, but there was none. Turns out the sofa is a bed but it wasn’t pulled out so my son ended up sleeping with us. Then we decided to shower as we had been at the beach earlier and there was no hot water. Apparently their hot water shuts off during the middle of the night. So, we had been almost locked out, didn’t have an extra bed and didn’t have any hot water. The next morning I spoke to the owner who was “nice”, but given what had just occurred didn’t even try to compensate a free night or anything or give us free breakfast for the rest of our stay. At the end, she even wanted to charge me for the extra bed our first night until I pointed it out to her that it wasn’t prepared for us. We stayed several nights and it was warm and it turns out that the AC in all the rooms was “under repair” so we had to leave our windows open. Let me tell you that Biarritz in August is packed and people are out partying until 2-3am and people start their business early. It was soooo loud every night and we were constantly woken up by motorcycles, talking, yelling and mopeds. The hotel itself is in a great location, but I wouldn’t stay here again. Too many negatives going for it.

Reviewed By Happiness773443Three sisters stayed at this hotel for few days last week, joined later in week by another sister and her husband. Absolutely charming. Could'nt recommend the place enough. Felt like a 'home' so charming, comfortable & old worldly. Felt like a family member immediately. All staff like "friendly sisters".. Garden & entrance so welcoming ....loved it all..Stay there. You'll love love it...?

Excellent Customer Service and a Great Hotel
Reviewed By Everywhere37We stayed at the Hotel Windsor in September for several nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our oceanview room provided plenty of entertainment watching the surfers and we loved the sound of crashing waves as the background sound. The breakfast buffet was expansive and excellent and the front desk staff was very helpful each day. After returning to the US with some small presents, including a wonderful Basque sauce that we found at the Biarritz market, we knew we needed more because it disappeared so quickly, I emailed the Windsor & sent a photo of the empty bottle and asked if it would be possible to get more shipped to us. Imagine our surprise and happiness when we received an immediate reply saying yes! Fast forward and within a very short time we received the sauce! We appreciate the excellent and efficient customer service from Sophie, who single-handedly took care of our unusual request. She saw this through from start to finish with a friendly touch and we're very grateful for her superb customer service! We can't wait to stay at the Windsor again and thank her in person.

Reviewed By kenny028Hotel au bon coin is a wonderful hotel -small(16 rooms) family run,and the family are very welcoming,helpful and go out of their way to make your stay great.breakfasts(fruit,cheese and cold meats,bread and cakes) are really good.rooms spotless and all COVID procedures followed.the hotel is in a quiet residential are but just off the rue de Verdun which runs down to the centre of Biarritz ,the beaches etc.on rue de Verdun there is a fabulous restaurant -le 0 Verdun where we had the best meal in 10 days in Basque country.there is also a wine bar l'art de vin which has a wonderful selection of 50 wines by the glass and jamon,cheese and a great lemon meringue.looking forward to returning to au bon coin and Biarritz as soon as possible.

Reviewed By O9709INrobmWhat a find! This wonderful 3 star hotel was our backup hotel when the Radisson Hotel in Biarritz was full. It's in a great location and the price we paid was fantastic. Our room was large and had 2 terraces. This is a beach hotel so the rooms are suitably furnished. Our bathroom was fine with a nice shower. The highlight of the hotel however is the AMAZING breakfast that they serve for only €15 per person, There's everything from vanilla crepes to fresh bread and pastries, cereals, meat & cheese, eggs cooked your way and plenty of coffee tea and everything else. The staff that we interacted with were all very nice. There's free parking as well as free wifi too. I highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a place to stay in Biarritz.

Leaving the hotel you turn left and you are 2 minutes from the beech and if you turn right you are in the heart of shopping heaven. Great restaurants and not to expensive. Will return 100%

Charming hotel in the heart of the old city
Reviewed By Edouard FWe enjoyed a few nights here in April 2022. The staff was friendly and very helpful, and they all made us feel welcome and like we were part of the family. The hotel is wheelchair accessible and our room was suitable for a wheelchair. Breakfast was excellent and relaxed. The bar in the evenings was also a great place for a last drink of the day.

Fluent English with smiles everywhere. Knowledgeable about anything to do with Biarritz and surrounding area. Excellent restaurant recommendations, and even managed to get us a table at the extremely popular Chez Albert on a very busy Sunday evening. A fabulous two day stay.

Mattress hard as a rock
Reviewed By pdunn802022The staff was great, the location is great, it’s nice and clean.all perfect until you lay down on the mattress . So hard and uncomfortable that I could not sleep all night! It is a shame because Mercure Hotels are usually great.
