Top 10 hotels in Benalmadena, Spain

August 20, 2022 Tonie Szymanski

While most visitors choose Benalmadena for its glorious beaches, there are plenty of other attractions to keep your family amused. Take a trip out to sea on a boat or a ferry; you can even go whale and dolphin watching. A cable car ride would make a welcome change, or perhaps a visit to Bil Bil Castle. The castle is distinctive with its Arabian architecture, and it hosts concerts as well as art exhibitions. Visit the Sea Life Centre, where you can walk through the transparent tunnels in the underwater park or watch feeding demonstrations; the centre even has a mini golf course. At the end of a relaxing day, Benalmadena becomes a great place for nightlife. Whatever kind of cuisine you are looking for, you are sure to find a restaurant that will suit your family's tastes.

Palladium Hotel Costa del Sol

Pure relaxation - rooms are small but hotel is amazing

Reviewed By RCB83

We have just returned from a perfect week here. The views are amazing and can be seen from the bar, restaurant, rooms, pool area - basically everywhere. The hotel is located in a very quiet and secluded area, however the bus stop is right outside and the reception staff will happily book a taxi to take you anywhere you would like to go exploring, should you want to. The hotel is styled and decorated to a high standard, and those standards aren't just for an initial wow factor - they continued throughout our stay. Staff really seem to care about the experience you have and the service you receive. Catering for Gluten Free needs was so refreshing with a large selection of items available (the most amazing breakfast pastries!!) plus pizza and pasta prepared to order if required. Food selection was varied and of a high quality. There are some minor downsides but if you are aware of them in advance they shouldn't impact your stay - drinks were small and bar queues could be long at times; however you could order multiple drinks at a time. Pool bar drinks were served in plastic glasses but all other drinks were served in high quality glasses that were correct for the drink (ie flute, brandy glass, large wine glass); I have found is often not the case on an all inclusive. Branded drinks and cocktails were available, but not all were included, which was frustrating. Be prepared to pay for all branded ice cream for the kids - only individual pots of vanilla / chocolate / strawberry ice cream are included in the all-inclusive, despite paying a full adult price for my 7yr old, which I felt was poor. We booked with Jet2 who advertise this resort as All Inclusive Plus, which I feel is very misleading. Having spoken to the rep, we were informed they had had multiple complaints regarding this but we felt like nothing would be done to address this. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the operator or the hotel but did put a slight damper on things. The family pool had a lifeguard in attendance at all times, pool towels are included and changed daily if required. There are 2 slides for children only, and a jacuzzi for adults only at the family pool. There is also a purely adults pool as well as jaccuzis up on the roof terrace for adults only (drinks chargeable there, not AI) The loungers and umbrellas were plentiful, even the busiest of days. The pool area is very civilised and feels very safe

Fabulous stay - AMAZING KIDS ENTERTAINERS

Reviewed By Bambi1983

Just arrived back from the Hotel Best Siroco, we were a group of 2 families (2 adults and a 10 year old girl). Location - Ideally located to wander to the Port, shops, bars etc. PERFECT! The local bus also takes you to Torremolinos, Fuengirola (has a fab market on Mondays) and more. We also opted to travel to Aqualand, this was fantastic and taxi from hotel was cheaper than the bus at 8 euros. Grounds - Very immaculate gardens, orange trees, huge palm trees, fabulous parrots flying about, in addition to some very adorable, yet loud, frogs (they remain in the water don't worry). Rooms - we stayed in room 154 and it was a lovely room however the air con didn't work and made for uncomfortable sleeping. We did mention to reception on 3 occasions and in the end we asked for a fan or room change, a fan was provided so this was then fine for us. The other family had brilliant air con so was just an issue with our room. The maids were prompt and rooms kept to a good standard. Our room also overlooked the entertainment which went on until about 11.30 so we enjoyed watching from our balcony if out daughter was tired and wanted to go to bed. For the Kids - The entertainment team were ABSOLUTELY amazing, I have no idea where Andrea gets her energy from (i was worn out watching her) but she was fantastic !!! They run activities all days excluding Mondays ranging from archery, water polo, aqua basketball, kids discos, bingo, and much more! We could not have asked for more from them. The pools are great also, a bit chilly in early June but i expect they will warm up nicely (bareable though). Beware there are no inflatables or balls allowed in the pool, this was a shame but understandable. For couples there are some fabulous loungers / beds away from the pool which have fabulous views and so comfortable. we sat there on evenings looking at the sea with our daughter while sipping a cocktail. (Pictured). Food - We stayed for 10 days and i was getting a bit bored with the food, however if you were there a week and popped out for a few meals you would be fine as it is not bad at all just I bore easily with repetition. I also found there wasn't much for the kids. They do however do amazing stir fries which are cooked while you wait so that worked well. Also we were half board, so they hotel let you pick daily between dinner and lunch so if we had a pool day we used lunch and went our for evening meal. There are some amazing place to eat in the marina so strongly advise wandering out anyway. Staff - the staff were friendly and polite and we had no issues at all. Entertainment - Kids Discos were great and the magic show was great fun for both kids and adults, I still have no idea how he did the tricks. Beach - We visited the beach just opposite the hotel and we found the sea was very rough and the sand was so dark it stained all of our belongings. We decided to head past the marina to Torremolinos beach which was much better and we hired a little peddle boat with a slide for the kids which was good fun. Overall I would certainly recommend this hotel, very good value, ideal location and amazing animation team!

Lovely Stay in June

Reviewed By carolinek561

Stayed here for 3 nights with my daughter from 3rd June. Had a superior room with front sea view. Our room was on the corner so we had a wrap around balcony. Superb view of the pool and the beach. We were bed and breakfast. Great selection of tasty food. Also provide a microwave if you need to re-heat, although my food was hot enough. Plenty of loungers at the pool. Nice food from the pool bar. Entertainment every night. We saw a singer and a flamenco show. Rooftop bar/terrace has wonderful views. Hotel has access to the beach and you can book sunbeds for the beach (free of charge) with reception. Staff couldn't be nicer - special mention for Ana at reception and also the guy who does the aqua fit and dj's on the terrace at night. Also did an aqua fit class (great laugh) and cocktail making class - no charge for these. Beautifully clean and tidy hotel. Would most definitely stay here again. Close to plenty of bars and restaurants.

The hotel is great, All staff are friendly, the animations team Work tirelessly with a smile on their face. The hotel is large with two buildings once you remember which one you are in it’s easier to find your way around ? The rooms are of decent size with a lovely bathroom with a walk in shower, it has a hairdryer and a magnifying mirror. Rooms cleaned daily by friendly maids. The hotel is suitable for wheel chair users as there are ramps and I noticed chair lifts into the pool also the pool had steps going into it as well at ladder steps. Pools have life guards, depending on which life guard was on duty, play inflatables were allowed in pool if an adult was in pool with the child but then towards the end of the week we got told NO inflatables at all even though they sell them in the shop! The pool opens at 10am and there was always a queue to get beds. The food is of high quality something for everyone from pasta and pizza station to salads and meats and fish being cooked fresh in front of you and the cakes well they are in abundance too. There was always a station with veggie options on too. The only thing I’d say could of been better was the labelling on some of the dish’s. There is an al a carte restaurant which you have to book (we didn’t go as we had a 5 year old with us) The breakfasts were brilliant ? The pool bar has snacks all day from burgers and hot dogs chips salads to crisps and ice lollies, cocktails and alcohol a plenty. It has a small beach to the side of the hotel, it is a slight way out of the centre I’d say 2 or 3km it was 7 euros in a taxi. The children loved the mini disco and the evening entertainment was the usual standard of a hotel. The hotel has a spa and a hairdressers. I would gladly return to this hotel.

Absolute Bewilderment!!

Reviewed By HappyGran1234

I have been holidaying at this hotel for the last 10 years, in recent years at least twice a year, now that we are retired and can go for as many holidays as we like , we do!! But our most popular destination is the Riviera in Benalmadena. Reading some of these reviews I feel quite upset for the staff, because in the 10 years we have been going there, we have never experienced any of these complaints . The staff are fantastic, from being welcomed at reception and all through the holiday! The restaurant staff are a bunch of the friendliest hard-working p eople ,I don't like to pick out specific people as you only meet the staff who work in your area, and we like to sit as close to the amazing view from the window as possible, but on this occasion I will say a massive thank you to Ana , Jairo ,Aurora, Brenda, Carmen and Franco who served at tables, also Pena the Chef, a most happy and friendly chap , Anna who keeps the buffet well stocked and all the others whose names I don't know but always returned your greeting with a smile. The restaurant is managed by Roberto,a very professional and friendly chap who always greets you with a smile .One of the previous criticisms 're the food, was they had to eat rice and chips for 3 nights!! There is always a carvery , with one of the following on,roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and gravy, Turkey chicken ,pork, salmon. On the griddle, there is always 2 types of meat, including steak ,cooked to however you like it, always some sort of fish.If none of those is to your liking and you don't like the other dishes , there is a massive salad bar with cold meats, prawns and crab etc! As for desserts ,again if you do t like what's on offer, there is always fresh fruit, and cheese and biscuits!! The staff at the pool bar are always helpful and polite!! The Culinerium, run by the lovely Esperanto is a very nice change, and we have never had any problems with the food there or The service, and have been on several occasions!! The only members of staff I can't name because I never met them were the housekeeping staff! You would come back to your room to find it cleaned and tea coffee milk and sugar rep!enished. As if by magic!! The rooms are getting a bit tired, but I believe hotel was due to be refurbished and the pandemic happened and everyone's plans went up in the air!! I have paid more for a B and B in the UK, but I know where I would rather be!!I We have just returned from a 3 week holiday at the Riviera and already wishing we were back there! Whenever we go, we always meet lovely people, some old friends and some new! Don't be put off by bad reviews, It would be my number one choice, and we have travelled the globe!! The only criticism I have is, what's happened to the breakfast Cava?? Used to love sitting on the terrace overlooking the sea with a glass of chilled Cava, a real holiday feeling!!

Nice hotel with great location

Reviewed By lhesky2010

We have just returned from a week away in this hotel . First impressions when we first walked in was it look lovely. We was greeted a nice man called Stuart who checked us in and told us everything we needed to know. We was given a room in Block 1 on the 2nd floor which on entering the room found it was quite small and quite dated but too be fair we did know that some of the hotel rooms are being updated at the moment. We went back to reception and yet again spoke to Stuart who said we could upgrade for 10 euros a night which would have been 70 euros , so he offered us a key to look at an alternative room on the 7th floor ìn the same block. On entering this room you could see that this room had been updated and was more modern but the bathroom was exactly the same and we didn't think it was worth an extra 70 euros so we just stayed in our original room. We had booked half board and we are glad we did . The food was lovely in the restaurant , plenty of choice at breakfast from a full English , a lot of choice for cereal , plenty of fruit juices , coffee and everything else you would want from breakfast. So after our day on the beach we returned to the hotel to get changed for the evening and go for dinner. The food at dinner was lovely , loads of choice from salad and soups to a full main course and plenty of choices . The only down side was the prices they was charging for drinks in the bar. We did find them a bit steep . One thing I will point out I there is an option if you are doing half board to swap your evening meal for your lunchtime meal, so if you fancy eating out in one of the lovely restaurants in Benalmadena then there is an option to do that. All in all we had a fabulous time at The Bali , great location, Bonanza Square 5 mins walk away and 5 mins walk to the beach down cardiac hill and also quite a few nice cheap bars at the bottom of the hill as well . We would definitely return here
