Three Day Layover in the Adelaide Hills

Reviewed By B3582WVsimond

After a few unsuccessful attempts to visit caused by COVID we finally made it. The view from the Balcony Apartment was amazing. Secluded in the Adelaide Hills the scenery from our room was just what we were hoping for. The balcony apartment is spacious with a good sized living/lounge/kitchen area, leading to a large bedroom and ensuite. All of the required food preparation and eating utensils are well catered for. The breakfast provisions in the fridge were ample and fresh. The bread and fruit was a nice touch and welcomed after a days driving. A couple of small things perhaps. In the summer months a fan or air conditioner would be a welcomed addition in the bedroom. The single air conditioner in the living room was ok but did not provide that cool environment. The Retreat is definitely heading to five stars and we will be back for sure.

Great place for a clean, well appointed weekender. Accomodation was exactly as described - family friendly, but the resort room was perfect for a couple for a few days. Short walk or drive into Hahndorf and walking distance to wineries and a lovely gin distiller.

An Amazing Place To Stay in Adelaide Hils

Just got back from two nights at the wonderful Mount lofty House. How lucky are we to have this gem 13 minute drive up the freeway but a whole dimension away from reality. We were there for my husbands birthday. Not a special one but decided we needed a treat and we certainly were not dissapointed. From the moment we were met by the amazing Chris to the moment we checked out, we were made to feel special. It was like staying at a country house party from days gone by. From Chris' tour or the house to our 7 course degustation dinner at Hardys Verandah it was all first class. Attentive staff, cool cocktails, roaring log fires and terrific food. What more can you want.

The beds are a disgrace

Reviewed By max g

I would invite the owners of this establisment to take a night away from home to see what the beds are like. They would then not expect guests to sleeping on them. Its been a long time since we have encountered such an uncomfortable mattress lucky to be 4 inch depth - not even a topper to attempt to try & hide the feel of the springs digging in to you. Its under the banner of CHOICE HOTELS alleged high end Ascend brand - not a great advertisement for them I wouldnt have thought. We have had better beds at small country locations who try to improve their properties on far less income than the Haus group of hotels does. I would respectfully suggest its time to put a bit back in instead of just taking all of the time. The room was clean

So comfortable and luxurious. We stayed for 3 nights and it was cold and rainy outside but we were so snug and warm. Easy parking, easy access and friendly easygoing staff. Checkin was easy. The pub and restaurant is right down stairs so easy access to great food and drinks. The room was very comfortable and the decor luxurious. The bathroom is huge! Highly recommend for a stay in Crafers and Mt Lofty area. A lot to see and do in the area - Mt Lofty lookout and cafe, Mt lofty house(ask for a look around in the hotel, it’s a Sofitel property but the house is beautiful) the Botanic garden I attached so a great place to take a wander.

Beautiful Cottage

We had such an amazing time staying in one of the beautiful cottages. It was such a lovely quiet area and only a short walk in to town. Vanessa was very helpful and we loved chatting with her. We loved sitting outside having a cuppa and watching the birds in the gorgeous gardens. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our very relaxing stay. We could not fault anything about the place and would happily come and stay again when we are in the Adelaide Hills

We had a bad experience here

Reviewed By VS298

I think our room was the worst on the block, the one nearest the road. Reception was closed, which is always a worry for possible problems, and we had to phone someone to get a keybox code. Unluckily for us there was a group of what seemed unsupervised children next door - the walls are thin - who screamed and shouted with abandon until about midnight, meaning we couldn't sleep until then either. There were ants crawling across the bathroom floor and it didn't seem spotlessly clean. I think the rooms on the 2nd floor at the back would have been better all round, but we won't be coming back here, for sure!
