Yeah Barcelona Hostel

Clean and comfortable

Reviewed By Foxtrot90

Stayed here last week with 3 mates in a private room. Got to the hotel early and were offered a bag drop which was great. Room was fine, everything clean and tidy and good value for money. Location was pretty good as near a lot of sites and landmarks, note it is a good walk to the beach. Were told on the second day from a guy on reception when stopping us whilst on way to our room that we had to wear the room band when entering the hostel (not had to do that in any other hostel or even on the first day?) but fine no problem. Overall, good value for money.

Basically okay. The rooftop saved the experience. That was supercool. Bud improve the staff with language and add more furnitures to the rooms. But the staff was really friendly and flexible. Main values are location and rooftop.

Brilliant place to stop

Reviewed By David M

The location was ace and although Madrid is massive it's close-ish to the places I wanted to visit. The hostel is self is very popular and it's clear to see why, it's clean , Lots of community rooms, rooftop bar which wasn't open when I needed a cold bevy . Reasonable space under bed to put luggage. They also offer tours and bike rides Don't get tricked on Hostelworld or Agoda saying there is a spa, don't think that it's free as it isn't its 10 euros for a hour and you have to pre book. The room it's self was smart enough and I went in with 7 other clampetts. You do get your own privacy as you have your own curtain you draw across which is good because at night your left sweating like a lizard so have to resort in going commando . I saw that there was air conditioning but it didn't feel as if it was on so you wake up with a sun tan and dry mouth. The perfect way to get over the heat was to dive in the showers which at the time of using didnt want to get hot. You get free Wi-Fi, cooking falcilities, fridges (downstairs) and I heard that if you get up early enough you get free churros. Good hostel and it's constantly well kept by the cleaners. Would deffo stay again as i felt safe in this hostel

Bastardo Hostel

bad experience

Reviewed By meH7026CC

The only thing I can say that was good is the location. There was no warning that the Hostel would be under construction, which caused an unbearable noise. The kitchen was under construction. The drain in my bathroom was clogged, spurting water out (to the room, inclusive) and was clogged during the entire stay. Even though I reported it several times. The staff is not friendly at all. And very regular cleaning.

How to ruin your Barcelona trip: Stay at the Generator Hostel

Reviewed By carolinehull2525

My experience at the Generator Barcelona was truly awful. Hostels are supposed to be easy, efficient and cheap places to stay. However, the Generator is none of those things. My trouble began when checking in. They claimed to not have me booked for 3 nights, despite my email which confirms I had a reservation. They proceeded to charge me 450€ (because I was not in the system) even though I confirmed I would pay 350€. That is completely unacceptable. They scrambled to find me a bed and put me in the most repulsive room with obnoxious roommates — one man came back drunk at 5am, vomiting and crying. My roomcard rarely worked and needed to be replaced several times. The pictures the Generator posts online are extremely deceiving, as the rooms are tiny, VERY hot, there are no lockers nor curtains. Staff members were very rude and not helpful at all. They took no accountability for their mistakes and made it seem like I caused the issues. Don’t they work in the hospitality industry? My stay at the Generator was anything but hospitable. Every other guest I spoke to also had poor experiences. Not to mention, after paying a ridiculous amount of money for a hostel (which should be cheap) I saw random people sleeping on lobby couches FOR FREE. So while I paid a ton of money for a tiny and uncomfortable bed, some people slept for free on the couch. Because my room was so awful, I found it easier to spend time in the lobby with my friends. However, when we tried having a conversation at a table, the front desk man rudely told us to shut up meanwhile there were loud and drunk people stumbling through the lobby at 3am. So you’re telling me, we cannot have a calm conversation with my friends, yet it’s okay to be loud and overly intoxicated? I will never recommend this hostel to anyone. Even if it’s your cheapest option - don’t go.

TOC Hostel Madrid

Very pleasant experience!

Reviewed By 350katarinaf

I have stayed in many hostels before but at TOC it was the first time I stayed in a shared room ( female only). I was a bit worried as I didn't know what to expect but it turned out great. The hostel is awesome, has friendly staff and is the most modern hostel I have ever stayed in. The rooms were quite nicely soundproofed as you couldn't hear much from the hallways as it is usual for other hostels. In my 6 bed female room, we had 2 toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 showers - it was enough. :) I will be coming back, definitely!

More hotel than hostel

This is more hotel than hostel There are no cooking facilities or places for food storage. Food is prohibited in the rooms. The staff are efficient but not very friendly. On the plus side it is immaculately clean, comfortable and spacious. But our reason for choosing a hostel is because you can make a snack and meet people. There is a rooftop bar which would be lovely in warmer weather and there is a restaurant area where breakfast is served.

Do not believe the pictures with the filters, the rooms are in awkward condition and really really not worth the money. The staff behaves inappropriately, and the price really does not reflect what you get. It is better to stay away, pay a little more and get a reward ratio that is worth it.
