Reviewed By bgfittNati is a welcoming host and a very good manager. Our experience is that he goes above and beyond to help his guests with everything from tour information to getting the right bus to Gondar. He sends helpful messages to you each day via whatsapp to check if everything is ok. The backpackers itself is quiet and friendly and our room was very large and functional. This is an great place to come and explore Bahir Dar.

Reviewed By Robert DI traveled alone to spend Timkat and I stayed 3 nights in Lalibela Homestay, a very clean & very affordable guest house at the entrance of the city. Deshew, the owner, who's also a good guide and will advise you about your stay, and his wife will make you really feel at home: it's effectively their home! We had nice talks & shared much more. Highly recommended! And the price of the room is the cheapest in town! Why pay more?

Hey Addis Hostel, This hostel is ideal for anyone who wants to better work, travel, volunteering, enjoy and relax the capital city Addis Abeba. The hostel boasts a fantastic location, surrounded by basic and great spots of the city. Hey Addis Backpackers hostel is located in the quiet near to the Megenagna square, 5 minuets walk to the light train station and the main road. Offering half panoramic city views and a view of huge Acacia tree from the second floor, this hostel is in an fine building with stone walls and includes one dormitory room for 6 sleeps also 3 more private rooms, one bedroom with 1 sleep and two bedrooms with each 2 sleeps. The rooms are characterized by a mix of rustic and contemporary design, with cement floors, woo-beamed ceilings and classic decor. Each floor has a shared bathroom which includes a shower. We offer a pick-up service from Addis Ababa bole airport and different bus stations to the hostel.

The staff was also so gracious helping us organize our future travel plans around Ethiopia as well as educate us on current events. Definitely a great backpackers destination and a comfortable place to stay!

Reviewed By 167abrhamgHad a great stay , thanks Location was perfect , close to a lot of bars and restaurants and a few minutes away from the Cathedral. The room was nice, clean and quiet. Breakfast was nice with a selection of warm and cold choices and sparkling wine.

Not your average hostel
Reviewed By manda322Hostel Ethiopia is not really a hostel at all - there is a room with two bunkbeds and another private room on the top floor of basically someone’s house. The common areas are a rug on the rooftop or a couple benches in their living room. I would say that the list of facilities isn’t accurate - they didn’t have an airport or shuttle service, breakfast was not included, and the kitchen is basically a kettle and a fridge and one sort of burner (that was usually in use for making their own food). There was definitely not a bar. There is wifi that will potentially work for sending a message or two, possibly loading email but not much else. There was no mozzie net so we did spend time mozzie hunting each night before bed. The shower was electric so we did have hot water, when there was power - there were multiple power cuts when we were there which is of course beyond their control but does affect your ability to shower when you want. There’s a main street nearby with some good bakeries and coffee, and Roomi Burger is not too far and can still make food even in a power cut, and was actually some of the best service we had at a restaurant in Ethiopia! All in all, there are probably better located and similar priced places to stay in Addis.

Other facilities: 4 bathrooms with hot showers, common area, fully equipped kitchen for guests to cook in, WiFi, great outside area to chill around, and so much more. Proche du lac, calme avec sa cour intérieure , toutes commodités ( wifi, eau chaude, cuisine commune, moustiquaires et repulsifs disponibles). Le personnel donne des informations sur la région. Les tarifs sont raisonnables pour les prestations proposées ( 160 birrs pour un lit dans un dortoir pour 4). Dommage que le propriétaire ai été un peu insistant, à mon goût, pour les excursions

Trying to be more than it is
Reviewed By Gerard OMy wife and I booked this on booking.com. However when you get there the photo on the website does not bear much reality to the building on the ground. The photograph doesn't mention you have to go on the back lane then another side lane then through a corrugated iron gate before you can get to the property- There are actually hotels in the centre of town with much better facilities are charging something like 50% of what this guesthouse charges STAFF-The one and only main receptionist that we met was quite friendly and helpful carried out cases in and out and did the best he could LOCATION-Just on the outskirts of the centre of town within easy walking distance which is a big plus FOOD-There is no food available at this property BEDROOM- Although the bedroom was quite large it was incredibly sparse no furniture of any kind whatsoever except the date, no wardrobe and chest of drawers know where to hang your clothes pictures very clinical and sparse- The bathroom unfortunately had no hot water- WIFI-the Wi-Fi worked occasionally

Die vom Veranstalter in Deutschland etwa 14 Tage vor Abreise bestätigten Hotels wurden vom lokalen Veranstalter Off-Road Ethiopia Tour Company aus Addis Abeba bis auf eine Ausnahme nicht gebucht. Wir bekamen in allen Orten Hotels mit niedrigerem Standard. Bis auf die schlechten Unterkünfte und die mangelhaften englischen Sprachkenntnisse unseres Driverguides war es jedoch eine empfehlenswerte Reise. Hier die Details und Erfahrungen zu den Unterkünften und Restaurants, in denen wir (1 DZ, 1 EZ) logierten: Bestätigt wurde Hotel Balayneh –untergebracht waren wir im Hotel Revda Gegen Mitternacht aus dem Schlaf geschreckt durch eine Pumpe oder Kompressor, danach kurze Zeit lautes Hundegebell, dann wieder Kompressorlärm, am nächsten Morgen gab es kein kein Wasser… Bettwäsche sauber, Bad unsauber, Spiegel und Ablage defekt. Zum Frühstück und Abendessen führte uns unser Fahrer in ein anderes Restaurant.
