Le Tartard

Used TripAdvisor to locate a 'nearby' lunch venue and this came up. We arrived at 15 minutes before closing and had 2 dogs but met with a warm and welcoming greeting. We did not realise this was a tartare restaurant, I was thrilled, my sister was not but is up for new experiences. We opted for the beef (us English don't do horse rabbit or even duck quite so happily). My sister and her husband had the plat du jour, I had the classique. I had never eaten this before but oh wow! It was divine. I had lovely fritte with mine, the others had gorgeous potatoes with courgettes and aubergines. I had a recommended glass of red wine with mine that was delicious and perfect. The atmosphere and surroundings were fabulous even if the wall art was slightly disturbing. What a wonderful experience...(the pineapple tartare for desert was beautiful too).

Popped in here for a lunchtime bite. Place was just filling up with locals. Having had a great meal here can see why they come. My wife had roasted camembert with very tasty roasted potatoes and toasted bread alongside a salad. I had a marvelous chicken and bacon risotto. Best one I have ever had. 2 glasses of Affligem and 2 wines. Came to 50 euro. Impeccable service and great chef. We will be back.

This restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is well worth a visit. We had the set lunch from a very short menu: two main dishes (both fish) and a single dessert option, for 16.50 a person. That might seem a little pricy, but the food was superb. Perfectly cooked fillets of dorade with aubergine cooked two ways; I particularly liked the spicy, smoky aubergine puree. The dessert was based around chocolate -- I'm not normally a fan of chocolate desserts but the combination of bitter and white chocolate, coffee ice cream, and crunchy "crumble" was excellent and beautifully presented. Note, if you're greedy you might be disappointed by the portion size, but it was perfect for us. Friendly service too. When in Perpignan this will be top of my list for lunch.

We visited here as we were staying nearby and it was said to be vegetarian friendly on tripadvisor; whereas the other three restaurants at this location did not seem to be at all. It's a bizarre setting for a high quality restaurant, in the middle of an un-finished commercial estate / holiday resort - it seems to be one of those locations where investment didn't materialise. It was a Friday night and it was very empty, which was eerie but the waitress came to us and, although she had little English and we had a reasonable amount of French, there were still some things lost in translation, such as me saying I was vegetarian and the resulting Goat's Cheese Salad came with bacon on it.The service was slow but it was good value and the Chef, who was possibly also the owner, was very attentive and well mannered, checking our food was in order and even getting stuck in to moving tables around when a group arrived that wanted to sit outside and there wasn't anywhere ready for them.

We’ve loved the place, the staff welcoming, the food and the 6 cats. They are all different like humans and they all leave together in this place: « Les Arestochats ». They move from a table to another giving to us their restful and their energy. If you travel in Perpignan, take a moment to have a lunch or just a drink in this unique place.

We arrived with the help of GPS promptly at 12noon today, simultaneously with two or three other French couples and families. The location is unprepossessing, in the middle of a row of car dealerships, of all things! The maitre d'hotel and other staff were already stationed outside and gave us a really warm and sincere greeting. It was unbearably hot and humid, and while the outdoor seating was appealing, we opted to sit in the pleasantly air-conditioned interior. It's a lovely spacious airy room, with generous tables generously spaced, with good table linen and attractively set. There is tasteful background music which, after noticing it once, truly receded into the background, for once. We declined an aperitif and began examining the menu. We opted for the daily €25 menu, which offered some choice, though we both ended up ordering the same thing: an excellent tuna tartare piled into a shallow bed of tomato gazpacho and topped with minislices of poached peach, of all things! Sounds strange but it worked beautifully. The starter was followed by a delicious main course of fork-tender filet of veal on a bed of girolle mushrooms, cameralized carrots, and potato mousse. To top it off, one is invited to head over to an over-the-top dessert buffet, created by the chef de cuisine who is a pastry specialist, with no fewer than two dozen choices. We each had about five mini-portions which were divine. The €25 menu is served at weekday lunch, when it includes a quarter-liter of wine, a beer, or a half-bottle of mineral water. Next time -- and there WILL be a next time -- we intend to explore the more elaborate menus, all of which looked fantastic. Service was among the best we have ever experienced, and I go back to the days of La Cote Basque and Café Chauveron and Lutèce! It was friendly and smiling, without being obsequious or false, and very efficient, without any obnoxious over-hovering or pretension. The pace was perfect. Franck Séguret, the chef de cuisine, made the rounds of all the tables -- many guests in the restaurant, which began shortly to fill up, were clearly regulars -- and he proved to be a truly charming and accommodating man who surely sets just the right tone for all of his numerous staff. We are already eagerly planning our next visit to the Clos des Lys.

Chez Christopher

My husband and I had an unplanned lunch here after a lazy two-hour pause at Caliceo, just next door. We were pleasantly surprised by the food, deco and service. Hubby had a huge perfectly-cooked steak with equally nice fries, and I had a plate of various types of sushi. I am Japanese-American and tend to be quite fussy about how sushi is made. Despite my uncertainty, the grains of sushi rice were still whole (which is a good sign), the rice was cold but not dry, and it was well seasoned. The fish melted in my mouth. Then I tried the makis. I chewed slowly and could not identify what I was eating. Then I smelled it -- strawberries! Totally unexpected. My taste buds were absolutely titillated. I do not know if my mom, who is not a hyphenated Japanese, would like it, but I am still raving about it 7 months later.

In a nutshell, the €39 evening menu (without wine) is astonishing value for Michelin star quality, and I say that with the backing of a fair amount of experience. We also stayed at the Best Western hotel just down the road. L'AbSix is located in a lovely wooden building. Ambience is perfectly acceptable and table-spacings are comfortable. Service was by an enthusiastic young man with wobbly but well-intended English (no Spanish or Catalan) who did his very best to make sure we ordered what we really wanted. Every single dish was highly inventive, perfectly in equilibrium, well-presented, and full-flavoured. The langostine ice-cream (starter) was astonishingly inventive, while the foie gras ravioli was a flavour-bomb. The entrecot was perfectly medium (in France!!!), the bouillabaisse was another flavour-bomb, and the veal in brioche crust sublime (could have had a bit more sauce). Be careful of the chocolate souffle for dessert - it is huge. If already full, the delightful glazed cherry invention was innovative and more delicate. Wines are reasonably priced.Would go back there in a heart-beat.

Service was very slow & one of our main courses was forgotten..So two of us were finished our main course before the third person got hers..Food was OK & we got one free desert because of the delay of one meal..Staff were friendly & apologetic over the mess up...I won't be back....
