Considering the previous reviews we thought that we would give this a go.After recently moving to chaumont we thought this would be a good evening to try this restaurant with my parents that are visiting from the UK.How wrong could we have been!!! Service was zero, not really the waitresses fault but she seemed to have way too much on her hands. We ordered 3 medium steaks which when brought out looked appealing to the eye until you tried cutting in to it. Considering we ordered 3 medium cooked steaks, I got the impression that the chef must have been in a hurry to leave, that or she decided to go and cook the Steaks on the bonnet of the car after this stiflingly hot day at 35 degrees. All three of them were literally raw and tasteless.Something to be said about being a vegetarian!! My wife had a gratin which she said was nice, although the first attempt from the kitchen arrived full of lardons and was swiftly sent back.Didn't stick around for pudding and won't be back in a hurry!!

Once inside the castle grounds, there was the choice of a small café serving sandwiches, the fancy restaurant at >35 ⬠or the "pasta buffet" with seating outside. Looked nice on the description with starter, vegetable juices, all-you-can-eat pasta with different "home made" sauces, fruit and icecream. But such a disappointment. We took one spoon of the couscous + canned vegetable starter "antipasti" and left the rest, just loke most of the people at the tables around us. Same thing with the vegetable juices. The taste was just off. Pasta more than al dente, and very watery, and to that a number of strange, and watery sauces. The duck + mustard + honey sauce was ok to the taste, but full of cartilage that had to be put to the side. Home made? Sure, but lacking all motherly touch and quality. Coffey was sopposed to be included butthe one small coffey pot was not sufficient to serve all the guests.Positive point: the strawberry ice cream! At 16,90 ⬠/ person (veg soup and coffey included, May 2013), it would have been a lot better to eat in town or just settle for a simple sandwich!

What a great choice of menus, we were really happy with all the food that came on our plate. We ordered the Gazpacho, and fish in mains, both were extremely delicious. We were also served an amuse - bouche of grilled tomatoes stuffed, which was a perfect starter to a good meal. We arrived late, when only a few locals were still dining, a reservation is recommended. They have table seatings inside and outside as well, and a great wine selection. The desserts in the menu were great as well. It was worth the trip from Montrichard, as that's where we were staying.

Located in a glass 'gazebo' within the grounds of the beautiful chateau we were amazed at the craft and beauty of the cuisine served in this fixed price menu referencing the seven deadly sins. We arrived fairly late in the lunch service and it would seem the only waitress was under resourced... she was run off her feet while the food was brought through by another waiter from one of the adjacent buildings... criticised by another reviewer. Perhaps not an ideal arrangement but the food was absolutely sensational my entrée 'Pride' was a prawn broth served with wasabi crisps and emulsion, with soba noodles. Just gorgeous. Both our mains - pork and lamb were beautifully cooked and presented. My café gourmand a delightful selection of little deserts with coffee - sensational. My husbands desert a fun little arrangement and quite delicious. All this including a bottle of wine for 98 euros... Just amazing.

Charming ambience, seating inside and out. Setting on the banks of the Loire delightful.Good selection of local wines. Excellent bread. Difficult to fault. Well worth the detour, although 1.7 one from Mosnes as the crow flies, 15 via the bridges at Chambord or Amboise

The Hauts de Loire offers another equally inviting dining experience where guests can enjoy authentic, flavoursome dishes for both lunch and dinner. Chef Remy Giraud demonstrates his versatility through his deliberately selective menu adapted to the seaso
This review is for the relatively recently opened Bistrot, where we had the set menus (starter, main, dessert). The setting is lovely, rustic-refined, the food overall very good, the escargots excellent and very generous. The service was, well, very French, and unfortunately, not in a good way. When you eat at a top restaurant, one expects that the waiter is able to describe the dishes and how they are prepared, especially if the (English) menu is not particularly illuminating but just a google translation. Calling Croustillant de souris dâagneau crispy lamb shanks, and then explaining that it's lamb shank that's crispy is just not very helpful. Ditto the Médicis with traditional sugar?Unfortunately, the waiters were too busy (short staffed) and thus harried. Let's hope that these are kinks that will be worked out.

Outstanding food! Alexia guided us thru the menu and made excellent suggestions. Result: We LOVED everything! We had a sausage appetizer plate, one duck & veggie plate, one bacon & goat cheese plate, bottled water, 2 glasses of wine each and two desserts......all for only 85 euro! Outstanding value, too! Meats are sourced from the local butcher, who happens to be right next door. They only have 6 or 7 tables and had a steady flow of customers, so reservations strongly recommended. A bit off the beaten path and our GPS would not locate it, so we called for directions - it's on the same street as the church. We left stuffed! Would definitely return. Bravo!

First the restaurant looks, at first glance to be unimpressive, donât be fooled. The food and service were quite good, it punches well above itâs weight. The menu is relatively simple and understated with a simple selection, but prepared, cooked and served impeccably. The narrowish wine list provided sufficient selection and the prices were good. All in all, a very good meal enjoyed by all.

The restaurant is in a pleasant market square. It is very traditional in decor. The food is excellent. We had asparagus soup with crayfish ravioli, salad, veal kidnets, and steak. Ecellent service. Totally full when we visited.

One of the best meals that we have ever enjoyed, we tried one of the menus as opposed to the a la carte offerings which looked fabulous but the middle menu seemed to encompass a choice from many of the dishes and the excellent mainly Loire wines certainly balanced the dishes. The service was impeccable everything superbly timed and friendly knowledgeable waiters and sommelier really added to the occasion.Truly a night to remember especially for the little touch commemorating my birthday celebration
